Episode 10: Jail Break

When Joseph, Frank, and Nick woke up, they went to see who made it to the next tournament round. They walked into the wilderness part of the city, saw all sorts of wildlife, and wondered if any duelists were with them. One duelist spotted them through his binoculars and thought Frank looked like an easy opponent for him to handle. When Joseph, Frank, and Nick reached a pond, the duelist spying on them approached them. The duelist said, "Hello, my name is Rick. And I challenge...." Rick pointed at Frank and chose him as his opponent. Frank pointed at himself and said, "Me?"

Rick said, "That's right. We're dueling, so draw your cards, and let's get started." Rick drew his first five cards and saw he drew Enchanted Javelin, Judge Man, Baby Dragon, Red-Eyes Black Dragon, and Gravity Bind. Frank said, "Forget it; I'm not dueling you." Rick said, "Oh yes, you are. I'm not giving you a choice in the matter. Walk away, and I take all your coins, and you get disqualified." Frank said, "Fine. I won't back out. But first, what's the wager?" Rick said, "Since I have seven coins and you have four, I wager three of my against you." Frank said, "Agreed." Frank and Rick threw three coins onto the field and bet them. Then Frank drew his first five cards and saw he drew The Eye of the Dragon, Cold Wave, Super Villain Ren #1, Hannah, Heatgirl's Secret Identity, and Monster Maker. Joseph said, "Cross your fingers and hope he wins."

Once the duel started, both their life points began at 8000. Frank drew Super Villain Yuck from his deck and said, "I play Super Villain Ren #1 (1550/600) in Attack Mode. And I'll play her with Monster Maker. With Monster Maker combined with Super Villain Ren #1, Ren's new power gets activated, allowing her to create a monster token once per turn. Then Ren's hands glowed, and she made a monster token (200/400). I'll lay 1 card face down. And now I'll fuse with Super Villain Ren #1. Activate duel armor!" Then Frank fused with Super Villain Ren #1, and his armor turned into the same clothing Ren #1 was wearing. Then Frank started to fly just like Ren #1, and he had all her powers. Frank said, "I'll end my turn." Rick drew Overdrive from his deck and said, "I'll summon Overdrive (1600/1500) in Attack Mode and blast your armor away!" Then Overdrive destroyed Frank's armor, and Frank lost 1550 Life Points, bringing him down to 6450. Frank said, "When Super Villian Ren #1 gets sent to the graveyard, I can summon Super Villain Ren #2 (1700/2100) in Attack Mode. And since this is Ren #2, her old powers are gone, but she has new ones. I can now change your monster's type from Earth to Darkness or any other type I choose." Rick said, "I'll now lay two cards face down and end my turn." Frank drew Super Villain Techno from his deck, and his Monster Maker activated and made him another Monster Token (200/400). I'll now sacrifice one of my monster tokens to summon Super Villain Techno (2200/1300) in Attack Mode. And just in case you're relying on your face-down cards to save yourself, I'll play Cold Wave, so now you can't activate them. Techno, attack his tank!" Super Villain Techno destroyed Overdrive, and Rick lost 600 Life Points, bringing him down to 7400. Frank said, "Now, Ren, attack him directly!" Super Villain Ren #2 attacked Ren directly, and he lost 1700 Life Points, bringing him down to 5700. Frank said, "I'll end my turn."

Rick drew Shadow Spell from his deck and said, "I'll lay 1 card face down, and I'll play a monster in defense. Now. I'll activate Gravity Bind. This trap prevents all monsters with more than three stars from attacking. That ends my turn." Frank drew Super Villain Lisa from his deck, and then his Monster Maker made him another Monster Token (200/400). I play Hannah, Heatgirl's Secret Identity (1100/1600), in Attack Mode. And I reveal The Eye of the Dragon. This trap shows your hand and your face-down cards to me." Then Rick's field and hand glowed, and Frank saw he was holding Judge Man and Red-Eyes Black Dragon; his defense card is Baby Dragon, and his two face-down cards are Enchanted Javelin and Shadow Spell. Frank said, "Even though Hannah's a 3-star monster and therefore can attack, I won't because your face-down cards are traps, so I'll end my turn." Rick drew his card, and Frank saw it was Saggi the Dark Clown. Rick said, "I play Saggi the Dark Clown in Attack Mode, and I'll switch Baby Dragon to Attack Mode too. Now I reveal Shadow Spell to trap Hannah." Then, a whole bunch of chains trapped Hannah. Rick said, "Now she can't change her position, and she'll lose 700 points." Then Hannah, Heatgirl's Secret Identity, lost 700 points, bringing her down to 400. Rick said, "Dark Clown, attack with dark light!" Then Saggi the Dark Clown destroyed Hannah, Heatgirl's Secret Identity, and Frank lost 200 Life Points, bringing him down to 6250. Rick said, "Now, Baby Dragon destroy his Monster Token." Then Baby Dragon destroyed one of Frank's Monster Tokens. Rick said, "OK, I'll end my turn."

Frank looked at his deck and thought, "There has to be something in my deck that can turn this duel around. Even if I have a minor lead." Frank drew Super Villain Muffy from his deck, and his Monster Maker created another Monster Token (200/400). Frank said, "I'll switch Super Villain Ren #2 into defense mode. Next, I'll sacrifice my monster tokens to summon Super Villain Muffy (2500/1400) in Attack Mode. Now, you have three all-powerful monsters to deal with. And the only thing stopping them is your Gravity Bind, but Muffy can take your Red Eyes and your Judge Man. Neither of your monsters can attack as long as I have my powerful monsters in play, and you can't activate Enchanted Javelin without me attacking, which I cannot do." Rick said, "I'll find a way to beat you." Rick drew from his deck, and Joseph saw he drew Total Defense Shogun. Joseph said, "Sorry, but he's too powerful to resist your Gravity Bind." Rick said, "Fine. Then I'll pass this turn." Frank drew Superhero Communicator from his deck, and his Monster Maker created a Monster Token (200/400) for him. Frank said, "I'll sacrifice the token I just got to summon Super Villain Lisa (2000/1300) in attack mode. That ends my turn." Rick drew from his deck, and Frank saw it was Harpie Lady. Rick said, "I pass again." Rick pulled Super Villain Flamer from his stack, and his Monster Maker made another Monster Token (200/400) for him. Rick thought, "If I discard my Gravity Bind, he'll ambush me, but if I don't, I can't activate my trap or attack with my powerful monsters." Frank said, "I'll also pass again." Rick drew from his deck, and Joseph saw it was Harpie's Brother. Rick said, "I'll pass again." Frank drew Jail Break from his deck and thought, "Hey, this could be the card I need. Jail Break is a trap that can destroy all traps on the field. Might be my only chance." Frank said, "I lay 1 card face down and end my turn." Nick said, "They're getting nowhere like this." Joseph said, "Well, maybe that face-down card will help." Nick said, "Maybe, but what if Rick plays that."

Rick drew from his deck, and Frank saw it was Megamorph. Rick said, "I play Megamorph. This card will double Baby Dragon's power since my Life Points are lower than yours." Then, Baby Dragon's power increased from 1200 to 2400. Rick said, "Baby Dragon, destroy Super Villain Techno. Then Baby Dragon destroyed Super Villain Techno, and Frank lost 200 Life Points, bringing him down to 6050. Rick said, "That ends my turn." Frank drew Super Villain Tech Head from his deck, and his Monster Maker made him another Monster Token (200/400). Frank said, "Time to attack. I reveal Jail Break. This trap destroys all traps on the field like your Gravity Bind and Enchanted Javelin." Then Gravity Bind and Enchanted Javelin got destroyed. Frank said, "Now I'll sacrifice my Monster Tokens to summon Super Villain Tech Head (2300/2800) in Attack Mode. Attack Saggi the Dark Clown!" Super Villain Tech Head destroyed Saggi the Dark Clown, and Rick lost 1700 Life Points, bringing him down to 4000. Frank said, "Now, Super Villain Muffy destroy Baby Dragon!" Super Villain Muffy destroyed Baby Dragon, and Rick lost 100 Life Points, bringing him down to 3900. Frank said, "Now, Super Villain Ren #2, attack Rick directly!" Then Ren attacked Rick directly, and Rick lost 1700 Life Points, bringing him down to 2200. Frank said, "I still have one more monster left. Super Villain Lisa, attack him directly!" Super Villain Lisa attacked Rick directly, and Rick lost 2000 Life Points, bringing him down to 200. Frank said, "Not bad. But you didn't win. And now it's my turn."

Joseph and Nick both cheered for Frank since he almost won the duel. Joseph said, "Frank is going to win. I don't think anyone can come back from this." Rick drew from his deck, and Joseph saw it was Ryu-Kishin Powered. Rick said, "I'll play a monster in defense mode." Frank saw Ryu-Kishin Powered disappear and appear on the field. Frank said, "I know what it is. My Eye of the Dragon shows me all your face-down defense cards, and you're no longer holding Ryu-Kishin Powered. I have this duel won." Frank drew Super Villian The Shadow Devil from his deck and said, "Super Villain Ren #2, destroy his defense monster!" Super Villain Ren #2 destroyed Ryu-Kishin Powered (1600/1200). Frank said, "Super Villain Lisa, attack him directly and finish this duel!" Super Villain Lisa attacked Rick directly, and Rick lost 2000 Life Points, bringing him down to 0. Nick said, "Frank won." Frank picked up the six coins they set on the ground and added them to his collection, giving him seven total and leaving Rick with four. Rick said, "I may have lost three coins, but I still have four and am still in the tournament." Joseph. Frank and Nick left and went to find another duel for them.
