The Sin Of Outer course

THE SIN 0F OUTERCOURSE

SCRIPTURE READING: Proverbs 5:18-23

Prov.5.18 - Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth.

Prov.5.19 - She is a loving doe, a graceful deer. Let her breasts satisfy you always. May you always be captivated by her love.

Prov.5.20 - Why be captivated, my son, with an immoral woman, or embrace the breasts of an adulterous woman?

Prov.5.21 - For the LORD sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes.

Prov.5.22 - An evil man is held captive by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him.

Prov.5.23 - He will die for lack of self-control; he will be lost because of his incredible folly.

God Himself designed sex and sexual intimacy for enjoyment by the married and also for the purpose of procreation. As part of sexual intimacy, there are certain acts called "foreplay" that set the stage for the actual penetrative act of sex. These acts include, kissing, caressing, petting, smooching, fondling among others. All these acts are called "outercourse". Outercourse is defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as "sexual activity between individuals that does not involve vaginal intercourse".

The verse 19 of our scripture reading for today tells us that "Let her breasts satisfy you at all times". Being satisfied with the breast of a lady is not a penetrative act of sex. As seen in the verse 18, it is a way of enjoying with the "wife of your youth". How can you enjoy touching a lady's breast or allow your breast to be fondled by a man you are not married to? To engage in fondling and kissing with someone who is not your wife or husband is contrary to the word of God. Again, such intimate acts outside of marriage are wrong because it can excite both partners so that it breaks down their defenses which can eventually lead to sexual intercourse.

Do not be deceived by the empty philosophies that are geared towards justifying certain sinful acts. Outercourse is the reserve of the married and not the unmarried. Be grounded in Christ and avoid the sin of outercourse.
