But when we reached the center of the crowd and I asked her again, more formally, she didn't respond. My genuine smile changed in an instant, and I bit my lips, calling her again to hear her rejection in her voice. Surprisingly, she said, "yes." I was left in disbelief, staring at her blushing and her beautiful smile. It felt like I was about to have a heart attack.
When she confessed, "I don't know how to dance," I initially thought she was lying. However, it turned out to be true; she stepped on my feet more than twice. I tried hard to coordinate with her, but the pain disappeared when she smiled and apologized, saying, "Sorry, I told you I don't know how to dance." Her cute face was all I needed to endure the pain. I lifted her a little in my arms.
Then, she opened up about her feelings: "Actually, I got this sense that I only need you. She paused, looking into my eyes with disappointment, and continued, "If you need any help from me, just ask, and I will do that for you." "I was going to tell you that you are also special to me," I began, but applause signaled the end of the song. "And you always will be," I muttered.
When she asked what I said, cut off during the applause, I remained silent, smiling. I couldn't muster the courage to repeat it.
After that, my father started his speech, a typical wish for a good future. I hope to make you proud in the future too, I said with a soft smile, not to fool everyone else but myself. Father called me for the worst thing I like to do: "pictures." I excused myself from Ember and returned to the spotlight.
When I left Ember alone, my eyes never left her for a second. I saw a waiter approaching her with a drink, and I wished I could stop her. Our eyes met, and I signaled her not to take it. She put it back, and the relief washed over me. "Sir, look here," a reporter called, and as I took my eyes off Ember, she was gone. I excused myself and searched for her, but she was nowhere to be found.
I couldn't let her go like this. "Ridiculous, really ridiculous. What is she thinking? How can she talk to me like that?" I heard Chloe rushing out in anger from the balcony. I had a gut feeling Ember was there because no one else dared to make Chloe angry except from one person . Who is not in this event for some reasons.
On the balcony, I saw a beautiful scene, two moons in one shot. I wanted to see more, but I couldn't ignore Ember shivering in the wind. I took off my coat and put it on her. "What a relief," she said, but then she realized she wasn't wearing any coat. She turned to see whose it was. "Adrien," she said when she found out it was mine. "What are you doing here? You'll freeze out on the balcony," I said angrily, and Ember could feel it. She smiled sillily and said, "Thank you for your coat, Adrien." I controlled myself and maintained my emotions. "Okay, let's get inside, or you will die here," I said with a hidden smile, and Ember could feel it. "Sure," she said with a chuckle.
Ember stood from her place but wobbled, and I held her in my arms. The look on her face and the silly smile when she was about to fall, I couldn't decide if I was angry or not. I picked her up, and she amusedly asked, "Hey, wait?" I replied angrily, "What?" I composed myself, got angry again, and she said something sillier, "Can I take my delicious plate with me, please?" with her cute puppy eyes. "I will make this available in your room, okay," I said, unable to stop myself from blushing and smiling.
