Chapter 12- Injuries of flesh heals not the feelings that were killed.

Dongmei was admitted to the hospital due to heavy blood loss and several other complications that followed her after the fight. The lady stood by her side all the time while she was being treated. Dongmei looked young and fragile. She was ashamed after hiding herself behind a girl who looked like one from a wealthy background.

"Madam, You have paid the bill and also spent enough time with my Miss."

"Please! don't harm your body!" The driver was annoyed as he was in the same hospital as his Master. It won't take long for The old Bai to find this thing as there were several visits from all sorts of people. From Business Tycoons to the little janitor of the Bai Group. Not all of them were able to talk to the old Bai but they still came to show their concerns.

The lady turned deaf and approached the doctor who came out after checking Dongmei. He thought a senior doctor like him didn't need to check the girl in Hanfu. But the lady insisted. He spoke hiding his annoyance, "The girl is fine. The cut is quite deep though!"

"You just need to avoid water and change the dressing daily."

"And don't forget to give her medicine on time." He reassured the concern on her face for the girl.

"You!!! You are useless." The lady yelled. "Why is she not awake?" She asked.

"Miss Li, she is just sleeping because of the pain-Killers." He replied panicked with the comment.

She replied in a low voice, "Oh!"

"Then I want to run all sorts of tests required." She commanded.

"There is no further test required!!! Miss Li stop making things difficult for us." The doctor spoke losing himself.

They started arguing that it was necessary and turned into a huge scene. Bai Shouyi came out of the lift and was accompanied by her mother. She was in a solvency state. So many things happened in such a short time. She was scared of how things turned out that day. she had not expected the best day for her daughter was now the worst day for the entire family.

The first thing she did once her husband was admitted was calling her mother Bai Shen. She was Dongmei's maternal grandmother and also a distant relative of Bai Wenqi. They had come down to go back to the Mansion, as Wenqi wanted to stay with his beloved son that night.

"What is the fuss all about?"

"Is it a hospital or some market for animals?" Bai Shen shouted as the staff and patient gave them the way which led to the lady. They all knew her and didn't dare to offend either side. The Director of the hospital immediately took over the situation and sent the senior doctor away and turned to Ms.Li, "We will do all the tests you request for." He spoke politely.

"What is going on here?" Bai Shen asked after spectating the whole thing.

The director was astonished to see Bai Shen and Bai Shouyi down in the lobby. "Madams, There is nothing wrong."

"Just a little misunderstanding." He spoke smoothly with a smile hanging on his face.

Everyone went back to their work, leaving the lobby emptier than it was. Shouyi was staring blankly at the entrance. She had cried earlier, her pretty face was swollen like a radish. She spoke, "Mother, let's go back."

Bai Shen gave a disgusted look at the arrogant lady and was about to leave when she saw the lady speaking to somebody behind them, "Ayee, You don't need to come out."

"Rest inside." She said patting the head of the person.

"Mom?? Grandma??" The voice spoke in a sleepy yet tired tone.

Both of them turned as they recognized the voice, It was Dongmei. She was standing in a patient robe and her hands were wrapped with bandages. She looked tired and was standing like a ghost in front of them. Her bridal makeup was wiped off by the nurses which now showed her real face. Innocent and delicate.

"I guess I am too tired. I even see Dongmei in the hospital."

"Mom, We should hurry back. I don't know how she must be feeling all alone." Shouyi cried nudging Shen's elbow. Shen stopped her and said, "She is Dongmei. You idiot?"

"Dongmei, what happened to you? How come you are here?" Shen asked as she approached her in panic. Shouyi looked at them blankly for a moment then. Then ran towards Dongmei with heavy steps and mixed feelings, She was startled and scared to see her in this state.

"How did you hurt your hands?" She asked as a huge drop of tear fell on the ground followed by streams. Li Zhen was pushed behind, she looked at them as her heart sank. 'What a loving family!' she felt the sentences all that while.

She jumped into the conversation embarrassed and explained, "Actually, I ran into some bad guys today."

"No one was helping me."

"But this girl stood up for me and protected me like a shield."

"She got hurt while fighting with them."

"I am deeply sorry."

"However, you would be proud to know, that she fought well. I did not expect that from her."

She said laughing to comfort them. At least did she know, she was adding oil to fire. Here the driver was about to eat up his finger as his veins were about to burst. The anxiety made him faint. His fall grabbed the attention of the mother-daughter who was standing like angels beside Dongmei.

"Dongmei? You know what did you do?" Shen scolded her.

"I don't understand. Why are you being such a troublemaker huh?" Shouyi turned to her daughter and slapped her in rage." Li Zhen covered her wide open mouth with shock. Shen stopped her from giving another slap, "What are you doing? she is injured."

"Injured? my foot!" Shouyi was furious as she untied her bandages without taking into consideration the pain she was in. Dongmei cried helplessly and did not fight.

Li Zhen grabbed Shouyi by her wrist and pushed her away. "Enough is Enough!"

"What kind of mother are you?"

"Your child is hurt. Does that mean you will hurt her even more? just because you feel frustrated?" She yelled embracing Dongmei who seemed to be stumbling.

"I don't want a daughter like her."

"Ya!!!! Didn't your grandfather say? You cannot leave the mansion until you are married."\

"How dare you step out?" She yelled again looking at Dongmei like crazy.

"It is because he said that. They all ganged up against me when you people left me coldly. They were sending me to Bai Welfare house."

"I don't know. How did I end up at a hospital?" She answered trying to keep her voice as low as possible. Shouyi was about to jump on her for another attack when a voice silenced the lobby, "Stop it!"

"Madam Shen, Take my daughter-in-law back." He said. It was the old grumpy Wenqi.

Dongmei trembled at his sight and fell on her knees right there. As he approached her, they were already gone. Dongmei looked at her mother's back disappearing. She wondered if she was her real mother or were the family she used to belong to today was her? She raised her eyes and look up at her grandfather.

"Please let me see my father." She begged, tears had covered her face as if she got wet in the rain. "My servant told me, My granddaughter saved you today." He asked in a toneless voice.

Li Zhen nodded with joy. "She was super cool at that time." she praised thinking he might be a reasonable person to talk to. He knew him, 'The richest old man Bai of the nation.'

He nodded without showing no sign of joy, pride, or amazement.

"Then, Can you afford her living?"

"Don't get me wrong. I will pay you her expenses."

"Just let her live you."

"Be her guardian."

"That's all I ask you." He said presenting a proposal as if it was his business dealings. Just like a business dealing carries no feeling. Only profits.

"You will be able to return the favor and also gain economic benefits."

Li Zhen was taken aback, 'The family is mad.' She thought.

"Are you looking down at me?"

"You know who I am?"

"I am Li Zhen. The fourth-generation heir of Li Group."

"How can you speak to me as if I am your servant?"

Dongmei was still shedding tears, as she heard her grandfather ignoring her and throwing her in the hands of other people again.

"If you don't agree to keep her then I have no reason to talk to you."

"I will! Even if you didn't ask me. I was about to take her away anyway. I was hesitant at first. But seeing how you people are treating such a fragile girl."

"It is unacceptable."

"Miss Li, Don't get me wrong again. I said I would pay you her expenses. It's not that you cannot afford a person's living expenses. It's that you cannot afford Bai Dongmei's Living expenses."

"This is also a way that I will be able to answerable to my son who is in a coma right now."

Li Zhen spoke proudly, "I will treat her better than you." Wenqi nodded relieved hearing her answer and said, "Then, Please take care of her from now on."

"She is of marriageable age."

"I hope you can find a groom for her too."

"So that you are not burdened for long."

"You can send me the invitation. I will come if I get time." He spoke coldly making it sound gentle.

Li Zhen could not believe what he said, "you are abandoning her?"

"Not really!!!"

"Okay! I will take her with me. I will send her wedding invitation too."

She turned to Dongmei who doesn't seem to be in herself. Dongmei dragged her knees and held his leg. She begged him again, "Please let me see my father."

"Do you want to see your father?" He squatted and pinched her cheeks tightly.

"In your dreams!!!" He yelled in her ears which made her faint on the ground.
