8. Not a withering flower but a phoenix

Daniel spent most of his childhood being jealous of Silver for stealing his mother's love from him.

Nevertheless he had learned the hard way that if he hurt or disrespect Silver, his mother would punish him as if he had hurt his own flesh and blood.

But before that, at the time when Daniel didn't even know what a mother's love is... Silver who was 4 years older than him, was already sitting on his sit... Daniel was 2 years old and things had been even more chaotic than last year.

Scarlet almost lost control of her powers the night she heard Fredrick bad mouthing her.

She told the guards that the king has a very private matter to discuss with her and that if they dare to interfere in their "special time together" she wouldn't end it with only getting them fired.

After making sure that the whole floor is empty, she calmly walked in Frederick's office.

They were still talking about how to kill Scarlet since it would be difficult for a professional assassin to get close enough to even stab her.

Frederick's felt a vengeful aura surrounding him.

He looked up, his eyes widening as he made eye contact with Scarlet.

'How much did she hear...?'

She was wearing black again but at least she had made an effort to tie her hair up in an elegant way this time.

No matter how many times he would lay eyes on her, she was still beautiful...even more now that she had matured a little and her innocent look had turned into a walking sex god...she was still only 19 and it often made him wonder just how much more her charisma would increase...it wouldn't take long for her to become a sexy beast that could easily get any man of her choice.

However this beauty was quite troublesome in most occasions...like when he would catch another man looking at her with puppy eyes while blushing as if she was a real goddess.

His possessiveness couldn't accept another man looking at his woman like that and the thought of her tossing him aside sooner or later didn't make things any better.

It always fascinated him how a monster like her had such a pretty face. He wondered if all those greedy men would still fly around her like insects if they had known how scary she actually was.

It would be a lie to say he wasn't afraid of her, her aura always gave him goose bumps and pretending to be a loving husband and not getting caught red handed wasn't an easy task.

He deeply despised her... specially since her beauty wasn't her only good quality.

she was smart, competent, powerful and strong. not only physically but also emotionally.

she never needed him and her followers clearly looked down on him, whispering how she deserves a better and stronger man.

Now that his love facade was being slowly uncovered, she wouldn't let him live. It was simply too late to be repentant after years of manipulation.

He had learned this lesson from an early age as a royal :

"kill or be killed"

It was heart-breaking to think he had became exactly what he promised himself not to back then but there wasn't any other way he could think of.

Scarlet was wearing a smile he had hoped to never receive at least not in this lifetime.

Her red lips curved upwards in contrast to her crescent moon shaped seductive eyes.

A smile that would sweetly whisper in your ears:

"I got you now!"

Fredrick instinctively took one step back.

His companion was a high ranking magician and they had said that Scarlet's body has been withering like a delicate flower, so he didn't know what to expect from their battle...

Had it been 3 years ago both their heads would have already been rolling on the floor...

His wishful thoughts came to an end when the magician tried to block her attack, only to be pierced to the wall while suffocating.

The magician stared at Fredrick, asking him for help without saying a word, not knowing that they were in the same boat and both of them were going to drown with no exception...

Fredrick couldn't take his eyes off of the magician as he took his last breath with his eyes staring at him blankly.

"My my... It seems like my dear husband has forgotten about my existence."

Scarlet was still standing in the door way but she started to walk slowly towards him.

She always liked to take her sweet time walking towards her pray, watching their face shrivel out of terror.

Fredrick tripped over his chair as he tried to make a run for the window...He had forgotten that Scarlet was never a flower to begin with, she was a phoenix...

Rising from her ashes in a never-ending cycle...

"Don't come any closer...you...you monster!

 step back!

I said step back!

demon! you're a demon!"

Scarlet halted and smiled even more gorgeously showing her pearl like white teeth, her eyes still maintaining their crescent Moon shape...

"Oh now you're just hurting my feelings!"

"Weren't you the one who asked for help from the said demon?

Asking a monster to give you what you could have never achieved on your own, not even in a million life times...

I wonder which one of us is more of a monster..."

She was originally going to kill him, but seeing his pale and dull expression made her want to see that helpless look on his face again and again.

Just like a cat playing with their pray before killing it, She too wanted to see him struggle to survive, to be desperate and crumble under the pressure.

"From now on you're the sole ruler of the kingdom you wanted so bad....Let's see how long you can keep it up...

Try to surprise me, ok?

I will have no choice but to kill you if you don't entertain me well."

"Good luck!"

She said winking at him and knocking him out.
