Where Is Maya?

"Katerina," Nathaniel called out as his path crossed with the lawyer.

"Yes, Mr. De La Rue," she asked formally.

"Have you seen Miss Miller? If I am not mistaken you are friends," he said, pretending as if he didn't introduce the pair to one another.

"No sir, last I saw she was safely in your arms, dancing," she said as she raised an eyebrow at him.

Nathaniel shook his head, he didn't want people to worry.

Maya was probably somewhere, mingling with others.

"Find her," Nathaniel told his bodyguard. "Her guards should be with her, she shouldn't be difficult to spot."

Nathaniel wanted to say that she should have been in their sights the entire time, especially with the looming threat, but he didn't want to risk others hearing of it.

"Jay," Nathaniel said as he waved his friend over.

Jay quickly jogged up to him knowing that it would be bad to keep him waiting when he already looked so unsettled.
