Chapter 20 (Jasmine)

I woke up with a start because of the dream I was had. You would think that after everything I would be used to having nightmares and yet here I was scared awake by another nightmare. I relaxed a little when I realized I wasn’t alone.

After we returned from the prom, I convinced my mom to let me sleepover at Jared’s place, it’s cool that he gets to live alone but I know that I can’t cause I’d be too scared anyway yes, she agreed and here I am wide awake beside him. I didn’t want to wake him up but I couldn’t go back to sleep so I carefully got out of bed without waking him up and walked to the kitchen.

I searched the fridge for milk, my mom always gave me warm milk when I had a nightmare and couldn’t go back to sleep. I found the milk and poured a little in a glass and I was going to heat it, “Jasmine…” I heard Jared’s voice behind me, “Why are you down here” he asked as he rubbed his eyes still sleepy.

“I just came down to get milk, I couldn’t sleep” I replied as I heated the milk, “Was it another nightmare?” Sometimes I get scared of how accurate he is at these things. I just looked at him and he understood, “You should have woken me up” ,he said and walked to the counter where I stood. "Are you okay?" he asked and held my face. I just nodded since he was standing so close that I couldn’t speak.

He just kept looking at me like he was frozen or something as he looked me straight in the eyes like they were the most interesting thing in the world, “You make it so hard to hold back, so hard” he whispered as he caressed my cheeks, “Huh?” I asked and I think that brought him back.

He cleared his throat and moved away, “Finish your milk and let’s get you to bed okay” I nodded and drank the milk which had been heated by now. I washed the glass and placed it back in its position after I was done with the milk and we both walked back to bed. I couldn’t get what he said out of my head. What did he mean by that anyway?

We both got under the covers and he opened his arms which I gladly moved into. “Sleep well princess” he whispered and I felt a light kiss on my head. I relaxed and tried to get all those bad thoughts and nightmares out of my head. Nothing would happen to me once I had Jared, I slowly drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
