“Yes, I paid this year so she could have a hot lunch at the new day care center. She goes to pre-K until noon and day care until three, usually. Today they have an in-school day for teachers so she’s at day care until three. They’re open until seven in case we need them. But we plan to pick her up every day at three.”
“Mrs. Schwartz, I haven’t made Zach his breakfast yet, would you and Bobby like to come in and share breakfast with us?”
“I need to get home. Priscilla is picking me up at nine to go to breakfast before we hit the sale at Marshalls but I’m sure Bobby could eat.” Mrs. Schwartz laughed.
“Bobby can always eat,” Jason said. “Take Mrs. Schwartz home and come back for breakfast. I still have to make the home fries, so you have time.”
Zach and Jason walked arm in arm back to the front door and into the house. Jason cut the potatoes and put them in water to par-boil. He cut up the onions and put them in the pan with the bacon grease. They sizzled.
