Chapter 34: Lights, camera and action

Jin drove home. He felt dreadful about leaving Yuna alone, but his heart and mind conflicted. Minyu was at the back of his thoughts. The only question that remained was; did he still love her? He couldn't answer it. His heart wanted him to turn around and comfort Yuna.

"What am I going to do!" he slammed his fist against the steering wheel as he stopped at the traffic light. "Please, if there is anyone who can hear my thoughts. . .I need some guidance."

He jumped in his seat as his phone started ringing. Shit! he thought, that scared the shit out of me. . . He struggled to fish his phone out of his breast pocket. Finally, retrieving the phone, he answered, "Good Evening."

"Jin, darling!" a sweet voice said.

Oh, no. . . Not Minyu. . . His heart sank. She was the last person he wanted to hear from. "Minyu, to what do I owe this pleasure?" his voice strained.

"You don't sound happy with me," she replied softly, "I wanted to know if we could have lunch tomorrow?"

She was right - Jin was not happy to hear from her. He was unsure about his feelings and trying to decide between his head and heart. Hadn't he told her he would contact her when he was ready to continue this relationship? What was it with this woman?

"I am sorry, Minyu," he said slowly, trying to keep the irritation out of his voice, "But I cannot have lunch with you - I am going to be very busy."

There was silence at the other end of the line. Jin suspected Minyu was trying to gain composure over herself before throwing him with fake tears and the 'you are mean with me' voice. He was not in the mood for this fake love.

"Jin. . .sweetie. . ." she said extra sweetly, "This is me we are talking about - your fiance- you have to make time for me."

"Goodbye, Minyu," Jin said and ended the call. He was disgusted with the way Minyu was handling herself. He could almost see the truth Namjoon had mentioned to him; countless times.

A honk brought him back to reality. The next stop was his mansion, which would be waiting; empty. Why wasn't he brave enough to ask Yuna to stay with him - then again. . . they are only working partners, and he needed to get his emotions in check. Why am I so worried about her? he thought, driving home.

His mansion gates opened slowly before him. He should try very hard - her smile appeared in his mind's eye; somehow, he felt she was hiding a lot of sorrow deep within her heart. Is that the reason?

He couldn't explain why he was attracted to this young woman. He sighed as he rode onwards to the front door of his mansion. He had to figure this out quickly before either woman damns him. Of course, the enormous mansion towered over him; the darkness sent shivers down his spine. How different would it be - if he had a loving someone waiting for him?

He pushed the thoughts away as he climbed the steps. He couldn't afford to lose sight of what was important; his company. He closed the door and dragged himself up to his room. He was exhausted, which he found strange. . .his head thumped from all his thoughts.

He fell onto his bed, and a sigh escaped his lips. He would shower in the morning before work - but for now; just sleep.

*****

Namjoon jerked awake from a loud screeching noise. It took him a few seconds to realise where he was. I am at Yuna's apartment, he thought and relaxed. He heard a door creak, "Namjoon?"

"Yes, I am awake," he replied sheepishly.

"I am so sorry," Yuna said as she came into view. "I forgot that my alarm - "

" - You do not need to apologise," he said quickly. "I will get ready to take you to school."

Yuna blushed at his words. It wasn't what he meant but how he had said it. She nodded and went to put the kettle on for coffee. She was afraid of what the day would bring. After school, she had to go to sign the movie contract. She wondered, no, she hoped that Jin might let her off the hook so she could visit Jungkook.

"Yuna, the kettle boiled."

"Yuna?"

She jumped and turned around. Namjoon had his hand on her shoulder, staring at her, his face contorted with worry. "Sorry - did you say something?"

"I said the kettle is done boiling," he replied, "Are you all right?"

"I am fine," she said stiffly and smiled. "You don't have to worry about me."

Namjoon did not believe her. He did not want to push her if she was not ready to trust him completely yet. He plastered a friendly smile on his face, and said, "Then let us drink our java and go our merry way."

He intended it to be funny. She was frowning in confusion. After a few seconds, she burst out laughing. "Then, let us be quick."

She finished making the coffee and poured it into two big mugs. She left hers on the kitchen counter and left Namjoon drinking to get ready for work. She closed her bedroom door behind her with a small thud.

Honestly, she hadn't slept at all. . .she would give anything to curl up in bed for the day. Yuna threw her closet doors open and grabbed the nearest jean, blouse and pumps. She could hear her mother's voice; in her head, "Doing plain Jane again?"

She shook her head and got dressed. She was surprised when she left her room to find Namjoon sitting in the same spot she had left him. She thought that he might snoop around a little. He looked up, grinning. "Ready to go?"

"Yes."

She locked her apartment behind them. There was a light breeze playing with her hair as they walked down the steps. She hoped that time would move quickly. Namjoon opened the door for her. She clasped the seatbelt at the same time as he climbed behind the wheel.

An awkward silence fell between them. She fidgeted with her fingers to the school. Namjoon parked and as she was climbing out of the car, he said, "Do you want me to take you to the movie station?"

"If you could," she replied, "but you do not have to. . ."

"I'll be here," he said. Yuna watched him drive off with a sigh, she turned towards the school gates. She only had to get through this day. The children were already in the classroom when she entered, they smiled up at her.

A small smile tugged at her lips - for these children, she would pretend, 'cause they did not deserve her sadness. . .only her happiness.

"Good Morning, class."

*****

Jin pushed through the front doors of his movies studio. He noticed the receptionist was busy on the phone, and the others kept ringing. When he got to the elevator, people were running around with wardrobes, props and cameras.

Tae is not kidding around, Jin thought and entered the elevator. It would be some time before he would see Yuna again. The elevator doors opened, and he stepped through, dodging a railing with clothes.

"Woah!" he shrieked, and Suga's face popped up from behind.

"Jin, thank goodness! Tae is looking for you."

Jin nodded. "I will go and find him."

"He is waiting in your office - so be warned."

Suga pushed ahead. Jin was afraid to go to his office; he knew Tae well enough to know something was amiss. His adam's apple bobbed in his throat as he approached his office door. He took a deep breath and opened it.

Tae was sitting behind his desk with a folder and grinned when he noticed him. "Well, good morning."

"Good morning," he replied suspiciously. It was usual for Tae to be this cheerful in the morning. "I heard you were looking for me?"

"I am," Tae said, his grinning widening. "The contract is finished and only needs to be signed."

That can't be the reason, Jin thought, Something is brewing. . . Jin approached his desk and took the contract from Tae's hand. He scanned through it. . .

"Well?" Tae asked after a few seconds.

"I think everything is in order," Jin replied, looking up from the papers. He noticed that Tae had put in a non-disclosure clause. So - if anything else leaks. . .they would know it was her.

"Good. We are almost done with the first set," Tae said, and stood up from the chair, "We will be able to start filming after she signed."

"Don't you think -" Jin started.

"- I know what you are going to say," Tae interrupted. "We cannot wait for her brother to recover."

Jin nodded. "All right."

Tae left his office. Jin sat down behind his desk, and he turned around to look out the window. This was going to be hard but they would be able to do it. Now. . .time should get moving so his co-star could get here. It would be much easier if she could quit her day job.

*****

The bell rang, calling an end to the day. Yuna watched as the children scrambled for their bags, each waving at her as they left. She turned from the door to find Suri standing before her. "Suri, is something the matter?"

Suri shook her head. "I wanted to ask if you are okay."

Yuna's heart swelled in size. It meant so much that this little girl could see her pain. She went to her knees before Suri and said, "I am all right, Suri. Thank you for asking."

Suri narrowed her eyes a little. She didn't believe Yuna's answer, but she perked up and smiled. "See you tomorrow, teacher Jung."

Yuna took her handbag when her phone started ringing. Maybe it is the hospital! She searched frantically when she found it. . . "Hello?"

"Yuna, I am waiting at the gate."

"I am on my way," she replied.

*****

Tae had ushered Jin to the set room. He took in a breath when he saw the set (only the first part of the script) it was breathtaking. He felt his doubts melting away. This will work, he thought and smiled.

He checked the time on his watch. Yuna should be here any minute. He decided he would be civil. He walked further down the set, he noticed Hoseok was busy explaining with his arms wide something to Suga. Tae had buried his nose in the script and was already on the director's chair.

He stopped as he heard the door opening when he turned around; the receptionist entered, followed by . . . Yuna. Her jeans hugged her thighs tightly, her blouse complimented her bust; she was smiling nervously - he noticed.

Lights, camera and action. . . With a sly smile, he went to greet her. "Good Afternoon, Yuna."

Hello Army,

I do apologise for my very late update. Work has been keeping me extremely busy and I am studying in between. I hope to update more frequently. Thank you, everyone, for reading and supporting my work.
