Chapter 1

In the deep autumn night, a beautiful young woman stands on the balcony of an elegant villa, draped in a silk black nightdress. Her gaze fixes upon the full moon, embraced by the cold winds that sweep past, coaxing her black hair into a graceful dance.

A gentle smile graces her lips, yet within its warmth, there's a subtle reflection of sadness.

This captivating woman is none other than Rebecca Shieldmores, the sole heiress of the Shieldmores legacy. Rebecca, a girl lavishly loved and pampered by her father Luke Shieldmores since childhood, bears a unique trait – she's emotionally unstable. Unable to tolerate even a hint of criticism directed towards her or her esteemed family, she craves constant praise and guards her personal matters closely. A trait undoubtedly which has caused her much damage.

In the city of Elysium Heights, it's common knowledge that Rebecca Shieldmores is extraordinarily sensitive, often viewed as a pampered child under her father's wing. However, such sentiments are whispered cautiously, for in this city, the Shieldmores, along with two other elite families, are regarded as quasi-deities, controlling every facet of the very city they inhabit.

As Rebecca enjoys the moonlit night, her phone vibrates with a notification. Holding the device delicately, she releases a sigh before opening it to investigate. A message from a certain individual darkens her sweet expression, prompting a contemplative response before swiftly closing the phone. The moon continues its radiant glow as Rebecca departs the balcony.

Descending the stairs, she instructs her maid, "Noura, inform the driver to have the car ready. I'm going out." In the villa's hall, she conveys the message to her maid before making her way to the personal lobby for a change.

Upon reaching she took around 20 min's to get ready.

Walking gracefully, she reached in front of a big mirror as she saw herself draped in a White Sheath dress. The fabric clung to her curves, accentuating every contour, while a beautiful necklace adorned her neck, adding a touch of elegance to the ensemble.

"I'm flawless," she said with a smile, leaving the room.

As she strolled outside the villa, the driver hurriedly opened the backseat door for her.

"Take me to the Everheart villa" Rebecca instructed, fiddling with her phone as the engine roared to life, and the car smoothly exited the villa premises.

In the expansive night sky inside a jet soaring across the heavens, an individual gazes outside while checking his watch.

"Sir, would you like something to drink?" A girl appears, asking him for drinks.

"Yeah, sure. Make me an iced caramel latte with almond milk," the maid nods and, as she is about to leave, he adds, "Oh wait, how much longer until we land in Elysium Heights?"

"Let me check, just give me a moment." The maid looks at her phone and replies, "We will be landing in an hour, sir."

He nods as the maid, finding no more to do, bows and leaves.

Meet William Sinclair, the son of a mall magnate, currently flying to Elysium Heights against his wishes. William's father recently decided to expand his business to one of the biggest cities in the country, Elysium Heights. For this, his father has been staying apart from the family, and he has asked William to come live with him. Although William is quite hesitant to move to another city, he agrees, as he is the only family his father has.

William is a person with a soft heart, quite generous, and accustomed to prioritizing others before himself. When William was three years old, his mother passed away in a car accident, and since then, his father has been the one to fill the position of the mother in his life, never letting him truly feel the loss of a mother's love. William is grateful and never takes it for granted. He has worked alongside his father in his business from a very young age. So, saying no to his father about moving to the city, which has done so much for him, is literally impossible.

As William enjoys his latte, his phone rings, and upon seeing the caller, he picks it up, which is his father.

"William, how much longer will it take for you to reach here?"

"Not too long, Dad. I think I'll land in 25 more minutes. Is something wrong?"

"No, it's just that I may not be able to receive you from the airport. Instead, I'll send Mr. James to receive you. I hope you won't be sad, my son. It's just that I have a meeting to attend with one of the three families."

"Yeah, no problem, Dad. You don't have to worry about me. I'll go with Mr. James."

"Okay, but I promise I'll make sure we have breakfast together. Bye."

"Okay, see you. Bye."

With that, William closes his eyes as he sees the plane flying over the city of Elysium Heights, its starry lights coming into view from the window.

 ...

In the heart of a lavishly decorated room, a man in his thirties sits at a desk, rubbing his temples while examining a particular file. Across from him, another person, Cassie, casually sips her coffee, watching him with an amused expression.

"What's with your expression, Mr. Wayne? It seems like you're about to get divorced."

"Oh, Cassie, it's worse than that. Do you know who's enrolling this year in the high school?"

"Is there someone important or VIP?"

"Important would be an understatement. See for yourself." Wayne pushes the file toward Cassie, who sets her cup down and checks through it.

"W-what? Them?" It wasn't long before she almost choked up in shock.

Seeing this, Mr. Wayne smiled. "Now you see why I was rubbing my temples. Now tell me, Cassie, do you find this amusing now?"

"N-no, Mr. Wayne, please. I'm sorry for before."

"Don't worry about it, but let the committee know we're gonna have an emergency meeting tomorrow. Inform everyone. Hurry up." Wayne said, and Cassie, without finishing her coffee, rushed outside.

While Wayne relaxed in his chair, releasing a big sigh from the upcoming pressure, the file still lay open in front of him on a certain page displaying seven photos with names and information about them.

It reads:

1) Jonathan Spears (The first elite family's elder son)

2) Rebecca Shieldmores (The sole heiress of Shieldmores)

3) Sebastian Astryls (The third elite family's second son)

4) Isabella Rose Everhart (Daughter of hotel chain tycoon)

6) William Sinclair (Son of a mall magnate)
