Chapter One.

It was drizzling already. I stretched my hand forward and felt the rain drop on my skin. I smiled to myself, I loved listening to the rain patter, it makes a very rhythmic sound. My smile broadened as I swirled under the rainy sky.

"Abigail, come inside." I heard my classmate say but I chose to ignore. I was waiting at the entrance of my school for my parents since they both promised to pick me up after school. Besides that, I loved the feel of the rain on my skin. It always made me feel happy.

I watched as other parents came to pick up their kids which made me wonder why mine were not here yet. My smile was slowly turning into a frown. I sighed as I stared at my shoe, they were already wet from the rain.

It's been an hour since I started waiting for my parents. It was no longer raining but the sky wasn't so bright. I decided to take a seat inside my school, they were still some students left inside.

It's my fault, I was so eager to meet my mum and dad that I forgot how tardy they can be. It's been so long since I last saw them. They've been away for a week because of the nature of their work. I had to stay at my elder sister's place while they were away.

Maria, my elder sister and I were really close, she literally took care of me ever since I was born. My mother gave birth to her when she was just eighteen years old. According to her, she and dad made early choices in life but they never regretted it since a beautiful outcome was the result.

I was already getting impatient as I stood up from my seat and started pacing back and forth.

"What's wrong Abi? I heard a voice call out to me, with a wide grin on my face, I turned to see, my mum and dad were both smiling as they looked at me lovingly.

I hugged them both "What took you so long?" I asked with a frown.

" We got held back at work but we promise to make it up to you." My dad said and I nodded with a smile.

" Alright, let's go." My dad said as he led the way.

We got into the car, it was parked right in front of the school.

It was clouded outside. Drops of rain began to fall from the sky and soon it started raining heavily.

" Dear, don't you think we should wait for a while?" My mum asked my dad.

" It's already so late, we can't wait any longer and I'm sure Abi must be hungry." My dad said as he looked at me through the rear-view mirror. I nodded to my mum and my mum nodded back in understanding.

" Alright. Just be careful, it's raining heavily."

" I will." My dad smiled.

My mum and dad were seated at the front seats of the car while I was sited at the back since I was still too young to sit at the front.
