Chapter 2 THE INTERVIEW

She came closer to the door & was a bit shy which is normal, I guess. Who doesn t feel nervous before an interview? She was standing in front of the door trying to cool down. She was looking here & there as if she was waiting for the door to open up automatically.

"Sir, may I come in?" she asked.

I was smiling inside. Stevie handed over all her documents to me. While I was going through them, I looked at her & she didn t exchange her looks with me. It might have been difficult for her at that time to make eye contact with me. I didn t want to make her feel uncomfortable either. So I just behaved as if we haven t met earlier. She was looking quite hesitant though. I thought she was not in a state to talk to me as she was guilty of the fact that she read my journal without my permission & later on she came to know that I will be her boss.

"Sir, I am really very sorry for my behavior earlier. I didn t know that you are my BOSS. Please forgive me. I will serve your organization in the best possible manner, I can. But I request you not to take this job away from me."

I had taken the interview of 9 candidates before her but no one had that spark in their eyes which I had seen in hers while she talked about her ability to do this job. Somewhere I felt that she is the perfect candidate to select. But still, I had to conduct her interview in a proper manner as I had taken for the other candidates.

"why should I hire you? I mean all other candidates were much experienced, what makes you different from others?"

After this question she seemed to be much confident, I could see her face.

"Sir, I really don t know about the others. But I can tell you about mine in a nutshell. Over the years, I have acquired relevant skills and experience, which I shall bring to your organization. I have also worked tirelessly on my communication abilities and teamwork skills, which I will put to use in my future career, which would be in your organization if you select me for the position. I have given my 100% effort in my past companies, and this has enabled me to recognize my capabilities and limitations. If I channelize them further, they will bring fruitful results to me and also to your esteemed organization."

I was literally lost while looking at her pretty much confident face. Then I told her to give a brief introduction about her so that I could know about her.

"Sir, I am 24 y/o independent girl. There is no one in my family except for my younger sister, 'Izabella . We lost our parents when we both were kids in a car accident on a highway. Since then we are living together in an apartment down the streets. I am a graduate of St. Joseph s university. Talking about my hobbies, I love cooking as well as gardening. Besides this, I appreciate traveling at weekends with my sister."

While she was speaking, I was just looking at her with a smile that seemed as if I have lost in her words. She was looking so cute while talking.

"I am so sorry for your loss Nina. May their souls rest in peace."

"Hm" (in a low tone)

"So, have you worked before, or are you a fresher?"

"No Sir, I haven t work before in a tech company. I used to work as a bartender in a nightclub 'SQUARE FEET . This is my dream job. If you could give me a chance, I assure you that I will never let you down through my work. I will do all the work within prescribed limits & on time."

"Well, your resume quite a lot about you. I can see you have won many medals in the Dancing competition. You love to dance!"

"Yes Sir, my mother used to teach me when I was a child."

"Hm, that s nice"

I was so lost in our interactions that I never wanted this conversation to end. Whatever questions came to mind at that time, I just asked out of curiosity as I wanted to know about her.

"Tell me more about you Nina"

"Sir, there is nothing left to tell you."

"Okay! No problem! So I select you but you will work as an intern for the first month. You will be provided with separate training for your work & if you meet our targets, you can work with us as an employee."

"Thank you so much sir. I will work accordingly".

"Alright!"

"Thank you again, Sir".

Suddenly, her phone rang. She disconnected.

"What happened Nina? Is it an important phone call? You must keep your phone on silent mode while you are in an interview."

"I am so sorry sir. It was my sister s call."

"Ray Sir, a girl is waiting outside the office & calling out Nina s name. She is injured too." Stevie said.

After listening to Stevie, Nina got scared & thought that her sister is in danger. I can see that fear on her face.

"Let her come in Stevie."

Nina rushed towards her sister & hugged her tightly. Izabella was crying & all her clothes were in a nasty condition. She seemed as of someone had beaten her. She was shivering & not able to speak properly. I was standing outside my cabin & listening to their conversations.

"What happened Izabella? Why are you crying? Please tell me, I will help you."

Izabella was so scared of her incident that she could not even utter a single word due to her fear. Anyhow, Nina made her calm down & gave her water to drink in order to make her feel comfortable. They both sat on the chairs placed just in front of my cabin. Stevie brought an energy drink for Izabella. After a while, somehow she tried to speak up but still was shivering. She wanted to explain the whole scenario but her fear forestalled her to do so. Nina kept asking her about the incident but she was unable to explain a single word to her.
