36 Learning Magic in One Chapter!

Will I survive this?! What is happening? The light is so bright I am getting blinded! Mystical light from some magic activating? I'm out!

I sprint toward the exit. I might not be able to see but I remember exactly where the entrance …. *BAM*

I slump on the ground after colliding with a wall. Perhaps I don't know exactly where the exit is after all… I slowly pull myself together and get up. Then I slowly open my eyes.

The light is gone. The room is exactly as it was. This is suspicious. Magic doesn't just activate without producing a single effect.

Maybe that thing was a magical flash grenade? It had the blinding effect for sure. I'm almost expecting to see the imprint of my body in the wall.

These plants are unexpectedly sturdy. In a corner of the room lies the pendant. It seems to be opened. Like some kind of locket.

I approach carefully to inspect it. The inside is slightly hollow. Ah, I guess it was a consumable like I first guessed it!

Now, what should I do with this? I wonder if there would be any way to reverse-engineer any information about it. Of course, I wouldn't be the one doing it. I could ask the spid…the dwarf maybe?

It seems to be made of metal after all. Maybe he would know something about it and…

*ZOOM*

Suddenly a green light appears! It quickly takes the shape of a small … It takes the shape of a small…. No, I just can't complete that sentence.

This seems to be a hologram. One that hovers right above its source. But what is that?! It almost looks like an egg. This is weird. It doesn't seem dangerous.

Should I be careful and run away? Logic tells me that I should, but I want to know. Whatever that thing is might be a link to my previous world.

Right now I'm in no hurry to leave but still. There is no mana on earth I believe. Would this vessel of mine perish there? I can't help but grumble to myself.

[This thing is so mysterious, what is even that thing?]

"This one is Bean!"

What?! I retreat backward but nothing happens. I tentatively ask.

[What are you?]

"Bean is Bean."

[What are you doing here?]

I bring my finger closer until it finally passes through it without any resistance. This thing is a projection for sure.

"Bean is here to provide guidance. Bean is good at giving advice!"

I can feel it radiating pride somehow, in a cute way. It seems whatever this is wants to be helpful. Could this be a trick somehow and would there be some hidden danger that…

"Do you have anything to ask Bean? Bean can also be your friend!"

How the hell is this thing so cute?

[How does this all work?]

"Hum, oh you mean this black metal thingy! This is a Bean advice tool! Whenever you feel confused you can use it to summon Bean!"

So let me get this straight. Inside this locket resides the hologram of a bean? A living, talking bean. Actually, this might be some AI. This is already the second one I encounter isn't it quite fast?

So much for the fantasy setting. This world is so damn messed up. Whatever god designed it is definitively mad. Or not, I don't know.

What am I supposed to do with it?

"Bean is always happy to make friends!"

All of this is so random!

[*Sigh* All I wanted was to learn magic.]

"Do you want Bean to teach you?"

What?!

[You can do that?!]

"Bean has experience in teaching. Bean is not sure if Bean will…"

[I want to learn! Please!]

No way I am letting this opportunity pass by!

[Alright, what should I do?]

"What kind of magic do you want to learn?"

[Let me see. So far I crafted a plant vessel with help from a friend, I gave a spirit to a training dummy and I made silent some friends by mistake.]

That should be enough.

[I just want to be able to control my abilities.]

"Perfect! Bean will guide you every step of the way!"

[Seriously?!]

"Bean is always serious! Ah, actually no. Bean knows a few jokes!"

[What?]

"Knock knock!"

Wait, is she showing her joke repertoire right now?

[Eh…who's there?]

"It's Bean! You really are clueless! *giggles*"

That…I am speechless. It's definitely not funny, but it's kinda cute. How did such a being learn magic in the first place?

"Bean will teach you nature magic first!"

Actually, make sense. She is probably some kind of nature elemental or something. I truly do not know.

But I believe with her help in no time I will improve. What makes me think that? The sheer confidence contained in that high-pitched voice. It inspires trust.

This is kinda weird now that I think about it. But my life recently has taken a turn from peculiar to strange. This is but one of the steps to it.

Thus starts my training. That easily. I follow all of her directives. I am getting trained by some small, green, and wise master. Learning about a power that is invisible at first glance.

This reminds me of something. Ah, the one I have is cuter, however! Ah, but both do have a strange speaking pattern. This teacher of mine is speaking simply. Very different than the one inversing his sentences I am thinking of.

We spend the day training, visualizing the intent, gathering the mana, casting spells to make the vegetation flourish.

This is amazing! I manage to try it on the house itself. The trick is to focus on that same feeling I was getting when taking care of my plants in the past. Also, to wish for their rapid growth.

Not to brag but I've already managed to create a table and a sofa! Who's the best?! That would be me yeah! It is all thanks to her.

[Thank you! Good thing you were by my side to teach me all about this magic! Who knows what accident would have happened without your help?! You truly are knowledgeable about this!]

"Oh? Actually, I don't know any magic myself. Good thing it somehow worked out! Haha!"

What?! Earlier she said she was…a great teacher... Ah, I see. True, she never claimed anything else.

Did I just follow the instructions of a complete novice?!

Did I just luckily avoid a disaster right now?!
