Not just an online game anymore

[Dexter's Point of View]

We're on our way to our school. Even if we were crammed into Kean's car that supposed to fit only six people, we didn't care.

The important thing is that we get there right away and get the answers we all need.

Who is behind all this? What do they want to happen?

What is really in that game? Why out of all the places he can make us go to, it is our school?

I was asking myself those questions, but even a single idea would not cross my mind.

I stared at them, and all I could see are the concern and fear in their eyes. I had never seen before that we would be in this kind of situation.

No one wanted to speak out and break the silence that had formed before we even left Kean's house. No one wants to voice out their opinions because I know they are all still confused.

"Everything will be fine, don't worry" they all looked at me and smiled sparingly.

I'm also really worried about Sierra's situation right now. I know that everybody hates her for being a freak, but that doesn't mean we will abandon her. She is still our friend no matter what happens.

Without me noticing, the car we were riding in had stopped and when I looked out the window, I realized that we were already outside the school.

This school is a few kilometres away from our houses, it is far from the households, so that fact worries us even more.

One by one we got out of the car and still no one really wanted to talk. I can already feel the tension with each other.

When everybody finally got out, we observed everything around us.

Just by glancing at everything around, I can tell that there's really something wrong with this place.

The ambiance of this school is different now, there is this kind of silence that surrounds us that we are even more afraid of.

"S-Should we go inside?" Alexis' stuttering question.

I looked at them all for a moment and I knew they were all afraid to make the first move.

"I'll go first" I heard Nicole said and we turned our attention to her.

She's not just smart, but she's the bravest girl I know. Maybe, Nicole's personality is really braver than other men.

"No, I'll go first" I replied and they all turned their attention to me. Yes, Nicole is brave and smart, but she is still a woman. It is always ladies first, but not this time.

"Keep your cell phones with you, we'll need that in case of emergency" I added and decided to walk towards the entrance gate of the school.

I admit it, I'm scared about the possible circumstances too. But just because I'm scared, doesn't mean I'll stop. I must do something in order to encourage them to overcome their own fears.

I looked at the gate and saw that it was barely open. That's weird.

It is impossible that they did not to lock it properly. I mean, there's really someone inside and Sierra is really here. It is also surprising that not even a single guard is here.

Yes, it's Sunday and today isn't a school day, but as far as I know, whether if it's a school day or not, there would still at least one person left to watch or even check the school.

I was about to enter when someone suddenly grabbed my shoulder "We'll follow you, you can't be alone, it's safer if we're together" Nicole said

We were just a few steps away when we saw four people walking as well, not far from where we standig. Their faces were familiar.

Wait...

"Wait, aren't they Xander, Clay, Alliyah and Lexie?" Nicole asked and I nodded. They are also our classmates, but what are they doing here?

I was about to take a step when I heard a quick footstep from behind and I saw Kean running towards those four who were still walking.

We stopped first and watched Kean run until he reached them.

They stop walking and we saw from a distance that Kean was talking to them. Kean then pointed our direction.

When has Kean been close to them?

Kean motioned for us all to come in and that's what we did.

"They also received messages like us, they also played Eliminate the Deceiver Game" Kean said openly when we got to where they were.

"W-what's really in that game? A-And what's the terms and conditions policy?" Alliyah stuttered but even one of us didn't know the answer to her question.

Everything is still a puzzle.

Few seconds after, we heard a loud growl coming from the gymnasium area not far from where we were standing.

We all turned around and fear prevailed again "I-Is that Sierra?" Alliyah asked and then I found my own feet quickly stepping towards where the growl is coming from.

I can almost hear my own heartbeat with the extreme apprehension I feel, I also feel that its pulse is slowly accelerating as if at any moment it will suddenly burst.

I was catching my breath when I reached the gymnasium area.

I found Sierra sitting in a chair, blind-folded, with her mouth gagged and her hand tied behind her back.

Seeing her in such a situation makes me feel a constant goose bumps.

"Sierra!" I shouted and quickly move towards her position.

Panting, I quickly removed the handkerchief and her blind-fold.

"D-Dexter? G-good you came! Help me, untie me!" Sierra shouted and I obeyed what she said.

"Don't worry, I'll untie you, just calm down first, how did you get here??" I answered her, but when I finally removed the rope from her hand, she suddenly ran toward the road I had walked before.

"Sierra wait a minute! You need to explain what happened to you!"

[Nicole's Point of View]

When we saw Dexter run towards the source of the growl, we didn't hesitate and we did the same thing. We ran as fast as we could.

We stopped when we caught Dexter removing the leash from Sierra's hand. A few seconds later, Sierra suddenly ran towards the path we walked through to enter the school.

"Sierra wait for us! Explain what happened to you!" I shouted but Sierra ran even faster.

I know Sierra wanted to leave this place because she was on her way to the entrance gate we passed earlier, but she still had to explain what had happened to her. We are all still confused.

"Chase Sierra, we're not safe until we know what's really going on!" Dexter shouted and without hesitation, I ran quickly and followed Sierra.

Sierra had already reached the entrance gate and was barely stopped.

I took a few more steps and caught up with her, while I felt that Dexter and my friends were just following me.

Sierra turned her back on us and was digging something at the gate. "Sierra, what happened? How did you get here? Answer us, we don't even know what's really going on" I told her but she didn't bother to answer. I can only hear her deep breathing.

I came a little closer to see what she was digging. "Sierra what ---"

"The gate is fucking locked! Who locked it?!?" Sierra's screams were so deafening that I was shocked and it did not immediately sink in.

"Open it! I want to leave!" She shouted again as she slammed the gate. I stared at the gate and it was really already locked.

That's impossible.

When we got here, this was widely open. Who could have done this?

"W-what? Wasn't it still open earlier? T-that's why we got in i-isn't it?" Alexis stuttered but I was too confused to have the strength to think.

Clark also approached the gate and slammed it as well. "Who possibly did this?"

Sierra suddenly looked sharply at each of us. She barely approached Kean, and that surprised us.

"You know what? This is all your fucking fault! We don't know what will happen to all of us, we are all in danger and it's all because of you!" she shouted and harshly pointed her index finger on Kean, as he just bent down and clasped his arms.

No one should take the blame, we are all just victims. Yes, she was right when she said we were all in danger now but she doesn't have the right to blame Kean.

I quickly mediated between the two of them and then spoke. "Stop it Sierra, it's not Kean's fault, let's just---"

"Oh come on Nicole! Just because you're the smartest person here, doesn't mean you can fool me!" she shouted and turned her sharp gaze to me.

I hate arguments. I hate arguing with people who don't even want to listen to your explanation, yet they always have the gut to voice out their pointless opinions.

"There must be a way out, can't we just stop this nonsense conversation and think of solutions?" I sarcastically responded, but she looked even more pissed off as I saw the tension of her jaw.

I don't hate her, I hate her attitude, that's a huge difference compare on how others see her. In a situation like this, I hate her attitude being a close-minded.

"You are all bullshits! I'll get out of here and you all can die here if you want to!" She shouted again and went to the entrance gate again and started climbing it.

Great idea. After all, this gate is not that high and can be easily climbed.

"We can climb that gate, or we can check the back gate of this school, but I prefer to just climb that too because it will be easier for us" I told them and they nodded.

Sierra stopped climbing when the mini speaker attached to the side of the gate suddenly rang.

Wait, when did they attach something there? I don't remember anything attached like that.

We all stopped and stared at the mini speaker, it creates an unusual noise and that made us all wonder.

A few seconds later we heard a voice coming from the speaker. "Welcome to Eliminate the Deceive Game! Congratulations! You are involved and in total, there are 14 players!"

I can't recognize its voice, I knew the owner of that voice is a man, but it is like a robot one, it's like he's using a voice changer.

But why did that online game get involved? What other game is he talking about? I don't understand.

We all listened intently and wait for his next words. Even Sierra who had been climbing before came down and listened too.

"You will stay in this school for 14 consecutive days, break the rules and you'll die, this is going to be fun! This game will officially start tomorrow!"

I don't know why I'm terrified, but his voice gets disturbing. And what is he talking about? We really need to get out of here, I also feel that little by little fear is enveloping my friends.

"Who the hell are you?! Stop being nonsense!" Sierra shouted into the mini speaker and then started climbing the gate again.

"Don't you dare, Sierra" We were all shocked as that line came from the mini speaker. Sierra did not budge and continued to climb.

She was about to reach the top when voices came from that mini speaker again. "I said don't you dare, you broke the rule, and it is now game over for you" After we heard that, a series of gunshots rang out all around.

I couldn't even look around because we were all shaken. I can only hear their shouts and loud cries.

"S-Sierra!" I heard Alexis shout

"S-Sierra!!!" Alexis shouted again

I looked at the gate and my whole body became numb from what I could see.

Sierra… is now lifeless, her body is now being bathed by her own blood.

No...

Tell me this is just a nightmare.
