War

Once Cane had cheered Kira up they moved into the main building, a large renovated aircraft hangar, one with numerous cameras and turrets lining it, completely contrasting from the interior. While the outside was heavily fortified with steal and girders, the inside was lavish and rich, filled with furniture and excluding an overall elegant tone.

"Wow!" Adina beside him exclaimed, clearly surprised by the change of atmosphere, looking like a child who had just entered the town fair, before running around the building, looking around and gazing at a few of the paintings and sculptures decorating the space

She was 18 right?

"Welcome to my personal suite," Kira said, sweeping out an arm and flicking a couple of lights, which lit up the room and caused a fireplace to light on the other side of the room, gentle music highlighting the air "as they say, what's mine is yours and-"

"What's yours is mine?" Cane finished for her, taking the drink that she offered him from a counter, it smelt of high-quality scotch, and the glass it was served in had golden highlights, likely literally gold if the room they were in was any indication. He took a sip before taking a seat on a nearby couch

"No, YOU are mine" Kira responded, giving him a smirk as she sat across from him, sounding both playful and deadly serious as she poured herself a glass as well "I don't just invite any man into my home, just the ones I plan on pursuing"

"Is that a declaration of war?" Cane asked, keeping his voice staying relatively neutral, he knew exactly what such a declaration could mean, and the effects it would have on his "employees", who he would have to reward for their valiant efforts of late, now that he thought of it.

"Something like that" she hummed in response, taking a sip from her glass, not letting her gaze slip from her own, her eyes glowing slightly under the light of the room "All's fair in love and war… and I am very experienced with war" she purred

Cane was honestly quite surprised by her straightforward and confident attitude towards him of late, but that didn't mean that he didn't approve. Kira was after all an extremely attractive woman, both in physical appearance and her magnetic personality, in all honestly, he had to admit he found her just as dangerously alluring as he did Alice and Jasmin.

God his teachers in the university would be outraged if they ever learned how fast he had broken the patient-therapist guidelines once he had been hired at the catacombs, but hey, it was hardly the worst thing he had ever done.

"Heresy!" a small shrill voice yelled from behind Cane as a pair of small arms wrapped around him from behind as Adina appeared from behind the couch, launching onto the back of cane and staring hatefully at Kira "Viles daemones!" the girl yelled, suddenly sporting a crucifix and pointing it at Kira as she laid against the back of Cane, her porcelain pale skin conflicting his own dark complexion

"Well that's just rude" Kira admonished as she waved a finger at the smaller woman, her smile looking devilish as picked up a grape from a bowl on the table on gently tossed it at Adina, hitting her directly in the forehead, eliciting a small yelp from her as it bounced off her head comically "at least insult me in a language i can understand, especially after I went out of my way to carry you all the way to my home"

"Why did you do that?" Cane questioned as he untangled Adina from his body and laid her on the couch, placing her head on his lap, choosing to not bother thinking about how she was an adult and instead treating her like a child as he passed her a small candy from a bowl beside the one of grapes, causing her to immediately calm down and groan happily

"I always wanted a little sister" Kira shrugged

"That's it?" Cane asked, momentarily stunned at the simple response. No greater reason that revolved around someone suffering or dying? What a strange idea.

"That's it" she nodded before taking another sip, looking out her window, only to get angry as she suddenly realized she was being watched through the window by Elvis and the rest of the soldiers from before as they peaked in "oh for Pete's sake! GO FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO DO!" she yelled as she marched over to the window, slamming the blinds closed

"But boss! You're so cute!" a bunch of voices sounded from behind the blinds, sounding slightly muffled "we want to meet our brother-in-law!"

"GO AWAY!" she roared, causing the sound of feet scampering to echo across the room as Kira once again sat down at the couch in front of Cane, although she was blushing slightly "anyway, I saw Adina and heard the situation, and decided to just make the most of it"

"you do realize that she's an adult right?" Cane sweatdropped, looking at the small creature in his lap before returning his gaze to Kira "and you do realize that she would is apparently my Fiance now?"

"that was decided by a man who is likely now dead," Kira said dully, her eyes going dark for a moment as she looked to her phone, likely searching for conformation before eventually returning to looking at Cane intensely "if she was really your wife i would have acted VERY differently"

from their they lapsed into a relatively comfortable silence, cane feeding Adina candy while kira just sat there watching, smiling slightly

eventually, however Cane checked his watch and let out a yawn "i think it might be time for me to leave, could you show me the way out?" he asked politely as he shifted the now sleeping Adina from his lap

only for Kira to respond with a quick and strong "No"

"pardon?" he questioned, unsure of what she was disagreeing with

"you're not leaving" Kira responded with a shake of her head as she pulled out a remote, clicking it and causing bars to slide over all of the doors and windows "i'm your body gaurd and for your safety, you will now be living with me"
