CHAPTER 2 CONSIDERING THE FATE OF HER 18TH BIRTHDAY PARTY.
A birthday party is to be held in the Alpha's ballroom to celebrate Starlette turning 18 in two days time. Life was perfect for her although she was yet to find her mate,that was the least of her worries. She had gotten her wolf at 8 and was pampered to bits. She is currently looking out her bedroom window staring at the various workers who are putting things in order for the upcoming party. She smiled at her self, I just hope he comes she said to herself and walked out of her room to her meet with her sisters Luxury and Kahlani who were mated to an alpha and beta respectively. They had just arrived.
Luxury!!! Kahlani!! You both made it Starlette said with a big smile on her face as she gave them bone crushing hugs. They smiled back and reciprocated the hug. We wouldn't miss your 18th birthday big girl Luxury replied. Starlette dragged them inside as she couldn't wait to break the big news.
When they were finally inside, Kahlani turned to look at Starlette "have you gotten a mate?" Starlette sat on her bed "nope I haven't and I don't want to if it isn't him". Luxury and Kahlani looked at each other at the same time. "Who is HIM" Luxury asked stressing the word "him". Starlette smiled at her sisters, flipped her head nonchalantly, raised her chest, corrected her sitting posture, squared her shoulders and said proudly "Dylan Ambrose, the alpha Midnight pack" she has always craved luxury but most importantly she loves power. The Midnight pack is the strongest, most populated, powerful, successful and feared pack. At first she had eyes on his brother Aiden but Dylan defeated his brother for the position as alpha. The Midnight pack had a pattern of choosing their alphas. Although it is through inheritance of throne, they also followed a method known as primogeniture or succession by combat. It's when the sons of the alpha have to battle each other to determine who will become the next alpha. It's a fight for the throne. And ever since Dylan defeated his elder brother Aiden to become alpha, Starlette has had her eyes on him. Luxury and Kahlani were both shocked and excited to hear what she said. "Just be careful" Kahlani said "I heard he isn't easy". "Don't worry I'll be fine" Starlette said confidently.
Meanwhile Alessia was in her parents office pleading her case. She was hellbent on celebrating her 18th birthday.
" I haven't celebrated any of my birthday's before, ever. I'm just asking you for this one please". She so badly wanted to celebrate this one as she looks forward to finding her mate, she was tired of hiding.
"You know you can't" Dominic replied back. "The pack is already wary of you because of your condition, publicizing you like this will only make the people furious and disgusted, I'm sorry but I can't". He averted his gaze from hers, he never enjoyed lashing out harsh hurtful words but it was the truth.
Alessia felt a lump in her throat and was almost at the verge of tears but she had to be strong, no she can't be crying now she told herself. With one goal in mind she looked straight into Dominic's eyes and said "all my life you've been an alpha to me, a ruler, always considering what the pack has to say and don't get me wrong you're a great ruler. But you've never been a dad to me maybe to my siblings yes but to me no. You've always considered the packs opinion over mine. Have you ever asked me how I felt about myself, do you think I'm happy with the way I am. And I may be letting my emotions get the best of me right now but I'm tired of hiding. All I just need is this one birthday celebration, I hope to find my mate through this party and leave this place and not burden anyone anymore". The room fell silent. Then her mom spoke up "just how long have you been waiting to say this" she asked Alessia. "ALL... MY....LIFE " she replied slowly emphasing each word while looking at Ophelia. Dominic was shocked and didn't know what to say, he knew everything she said was true but he never meant to hurt all he was trying to do was protect her from the pack. But while doing so he just realized that all he had done was hurt her even from an early age.
Alessia was nervous as she has never said those words before. She felt bad for saying what she said but if it was going to get her to celebrate this one birthday then she didn't mind it.
Meanwhile Ophelia was besides herself with guilt, she has always felt terrible with the way they treated Alessia she never liked it for a day but she thought it was for Alessia's good. "Alessia's right, we should at least give her this one birthday party and an opportunity to find her mate. It isn't her fault that she is the way she is if the pack wants to be mad then they should me mad at Selene. We've hidden her and protected her for too long" she paused and looked at Alessia and smiled bitterly "I mean look at her, she's no longer a child" and I missed out on her childhood moments she said to herself. "But even if we are to give you a go ahead you'll have to throw your party after Starlette's. Is that okay with you?" Alessia was surprised that they were even considering "yes I'll take it".
Ophelia and Alessia focused there attention now on Dominic who remained silent. After a while he spoke "I'll give you your answers by tomorrow Alessia. Give me time to consider the fate of your birthday".
Alessia was so happy at least he's considering, it's a welcome progress she said to herself. "Alright then, I'll be waiting for your feedback." As she turned to leave she paused and turned back with a smile she said "thank you" And she left.
