Learning New Things

On the final day of Xander's break, the residents of Ryozanpaku were all seated in the dining room for breakfast. Xander thought that this day, the girls would again fight on whom sits next to whom, but it seems they have reached some sort of agreement of sorts.

Today it is Freya on his right and Renka on his left.

Xander still didn't know how to react to this kind of thing. The only one who really treated him like the girls are doing now was dawn and he didn't touch her for years cause she was jailbait.

Now he has five, let's say it again, FIVE beautiful young women aiming for him… and they WANT to share.

Life is good.

"So Kenichi, how was your break?" asked Kisame

Xander sent him an unimpressed look through half lidded eyes as if asking 'really?' causing several people to either chuckle or at least smile.

It was no secret that Xander's break consisted of working or fighting. He was finally able to spend time with his parents on the weekend, spending two days just relaxing with them and Honoka.

"It's ok Kenichi, I'm sure you'll get another break soon" Miu tried to encourage him

Freya nodded "you did defeat two grand master level fighters"

"Not exactly" Xander shook his head slowly "I snuck up on the first and had a grandmaster of my own when fighting the second. If it was face to face one on one I'd be lucky if I survived"

The girls frowned at Xander's admission prompting Kisara to shout at him "then why the hell did you do that. Even I know how dangerous fighting a grand master is"

Xander looked her straight in the eye, not blinking or backing down as he responded "because one of my friends needed me" causing the table to go quiet

Even after sixty years of his original life, Xander would still think about his friend Jesse. The childhood friend that died and a vampire took place of, the vampire that Xander had to kill himself.

He failed to protect his friend but he accepted it, because he is… was weak. Now he isn't exactly strong, not when the old man is there, but he isn't weak and he will protect his friends.

His answer caused Kisara to blush and turn her head to the side muttering "Idiot"

'Ah, thank you Rex for this meal of tsundere cuteness this morning' was the silent prayer of Xander as he smiled serenely at her

Xander failed to notice Ryuto's look of admiration, the blush forming on Renka's face or the glint in Kensei's eye.

That was his daughter dammit.

-A few days later-

"Shirahama-san" a teacher that Xander refers to as A-sensei called out to him

"Yes sensei? Do you need something?" Kenichi answered blandly

"What is the meaning of this?" the teacher seamed upset as he shoved a form at Kenichi

Kenichi checked the form and did it again "application for early graduation?" Kenichi said slowly

"I know you idiot" the teacher swung the form and missed "DON'T DODGE" he asked unreasonably "tell me why you applied for it"

"I'm wasting my time here and want to test out" Kenichi shrugged

"And your parents agreed to this?" the teacher asked, still upset

"I am already an established mangaka that makes more in a month than what my father makes in a year" Kenichi explained "they had a problem with me dropping out, but none for testing out… so…"

"*Sigh* fine, I'll arrange it" the teacher looked older for some reason "I heard you've been living in the same house as Miu Furinji-san, mind explaining that?"

"First, It's a dojo no a house. Second, I am a live-in disciple. Finally, Miu's grandfather is the dojo elder and we are always under the masters supervision" Kenichi decided to cut the rumours from its buds as he noticed many students listening to their conversation with all the subtlety of an Ox in a china shop.

"I see" the teacher scratched his chin "and what do you learn in that dojo?"

"A lot" Kenichi didn't offer more while his eyes said 'you are becoming an annoyance'

The teacher flinched from the annoyed look from Kenichi. There were certain rumours about the student in front of him, talking about how he took down an entire gang alone and what not. He never believed them of course… but maybe

"Anything else, sensei?" Kenichi asked coldly

"No" A-sensei answered involuntarily "I'll speak to you later, good day Shirahama-san"

Xander looked after the retreating form of A-sensei with a barely contained chuckle

"It's not nice to bully your teacher you know" a familiar voice spoke, causing Kenichi to turn towards it

"Yo, Takeda. How is it going?" Kenichi greeted with a smile

"It's going well enough. Akisame-sensei is a monster" he spoke while rolling his recovering shoulder "not to mention Apachi-sensei's training…" Takeda continued to complain. Xander just shook his head in amusement and exasperation

"you do know they're going easy on you till you fully recover, right?" Xander pointed out, inturupting Takeda's tirade

Takeda opened his eyes wide at the implication

"FUUUU…"

"Hey old man, think it's time you teach me something?" Xander asked the old man Furinji

the old man tilted his head sideways in confusion "Something like what?"

"Seikuken"

"hm" the old man took a moment to think before answering "ok, pack for a week-long trip"

"I'll go do that then" Xander nodded

Across the field were Sakaki and Kensei working with their own disciples. They just witnessed the exchange between the old man and Kenichi and were mildly surprised.

"Hey Kensei, was it always that easy to get training from the old man?" asked Sakaki

"It wasn't"

"Why do you think he agreed so easily?"

"Don't know"

"He's gonna kill him, isn't he?"

"He will"

""Rest in peace our disciple"" they chorused

-Two Days Into Training-

"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU OLD MAAAAN" screamed Xander as he fell from the Cliffside.

It wasn't his fault, the old man told Kenichi to climb the cliff while he threw boulders at Kenichi, telling him to 'dodge or block'.

"What a lovely day" the serene voice of the old man reached Xander even though he was falling.

-Four Days Into Training-

"I'll burn your beard you old bastard" Kenichi growled as he was hung from a fragile looking bridge by his feet.

He was given a stick (tree branch) and told to fight the pray birds that attack him off. He can't move too much though, if he did, the bridge will break and he will fall.

It was then that he felt something on his feet and soaking his pants. Bending at the waist to sniff it, he identified it as honey.

Before he can say anything several seed types fell on him by what he identified as a Gently (not) Smiling Old Man "Have fun"

Xander glared at him but did nothing more. He didn't want to fall in the river in January.

He will have his vengeance.

-Six Days Into Training-

Xander was not happy

"Run faster Kenichi"

He was absolutely not happy.

Xander was running an obstacle course with several bears running after him. The problem is that they are keeping up. It wouldn't be a surprise if it came out that the old man trained them himself or something.

-At The End Of The Week-

"That was fun" the old man spoke with cheer

"I WILL SHAVE YOUR BEARD" Xander shouted in anger

"I'd like to see you try" the old man grinned

"YOU WANNA GO, COME AT ME BRO"

"It's a hundred years too early for you kid" the old man laughed as he ran towards civilisation with an irate Xander chasing after him with a particularly sharp rock
