New School

Bart ran as fast as he could to Laurie and the others to convince them to leave with him. But Gabriel, Megan, and Teon decided to stay.

" Where are we going?" Lauri asked as Bart ran her and himself across the state of North Dakota.

" To the only other place I can think of that the Phoenix Five wouldn't attack. I have to say it again Thank you for sticking with me on this Laurie. I know it can't be easy." Bart said to the girl.

Laurie smiled and nestled closer into Bart's chest. " Of course, Bart. I told you I would."

Bart smiled and kissed the top of Laurie's head. ' Thank you, Laurie.' As Bart ran, he thought back to the meeting he had with the Lights and the trust Laurie placed in him despite the circumstances, she still stood by his side. ' Is it too early for me to say I love you?' Bart asked himself. Bart smiled and continued running until he finally reached his goal.

" Finally, we're here!" Bart exclaimed.

Laurie opened her eyes and looked up at the new school she and Bart would be attending in the future. " The Jean Grey school for higher learning? The school, Mr. Logan opened? Are you sure they won't attack this place? I know Mr. Summers and Mr. Logan didn't exactly part as friends." Laurie asked the boy.

" Maybe not, but this is the only other place that houses mutants. I doubt even they would attack their own people." Bart said to the woman.

" Alright, I believe you. Let's go." Laurie said to the boy.

Bart nodded and phased the two of them through the front gates of the school. As they walked on the stone path towards the school's front door, Bart looked over and could swear he had seen the grass shifting. ' What was that?' Bart wondered. But quickly pushed the thought to the back of his head.

The two approached the door of the institute and Bart knocked hard.

* KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!

" All right! All right! You don't have to knock so hard. I'm... Coming?" Kitty was saying as she opened the door.

" Hey, miss Pryde." Laurie greeted her team's old advisor with a happy smile.

" Laurie!" Kitty yelled as she hugged the young girl. " It's so good to see you again. You as well, Bart. What are you guys doing here?" Kitty asked.

" Well, we were hoping we could stay here. We kind of blew off Utopia and I might have made an enemy of the phoenix five." Bart explained to the woman.

" Of course, you guys can stay. You were always welcome. Come on in. We'll get you guys situated with the school and then we'll get you to your new rooms. Do you have anything with you?" Kitty asked the two.

" No, I had to get us out of there as fast as possible. I was planning to run back later and grab anything we need after we got here." Bart explained to the woman.

" You were gonna grab both of your belongings?" Kitty asked.

" Yeah, while you were gone. Me and Bart... We started... Uhm, dating." Laurie explained to the woman.

Kitty looked up at the two and grinned. " Took you both long enough. But you know, there are rules here. So, no sex." Kitty explained making Bart turn red and Laurie go purple. Kitty looked back at the two flustered teens and laughed. " I'm kidding. You guys, you're both 18. Just make sure you practice safe sex." Kitty stated.

Bart and Laurie looked at each other and blushed harder.

" Please stop." Laurie asked the woman.

Kitty laughed and patted Laurie on her back. " Come on, let's give you guys a tour of the place. First is the lawn. Where our friend Krakoa lives." Kitty explained to the teens as she pointed back out the door.

" Krakoa? What's that?" Bart asked.

" A sentient fauna. He makes up the lawn of the institute and is essentially one of its many security protocols. He will protect the institute from foreign threats. Oh, and do anything to hurt the lawn, like pee on the flowers, like Julian did, he hates that. Wanna say hi to him?" Kitty asked.

" Sure." Bart replied.

" KRAKOA! WE HAVE VISITORS!" Kitty yelled out.

The ground around the institute shifted and a giant rock like monster appeared out in the grass and smiled at the woman.

" THAT IS SO CRASH!" Bart yelled.

Krakoa smiled and waved before returning to the ground for his slumber.

" Alright, come on. We have a lot to cover." Kitty told the two as she began her tour.

An hour later after going over the basic rules and showing off the cafeteria, the awesome gymnasium and the danger room, Kitty finally sat Bart and Laurie down in her office and began the official process of having them both inducted into the school.

" And it's official. Welcome to the Jean grey school for higher." Kitty said to the two newest students of the school as she handed them their uniforms.

" Thanks so much, Miss Pryde."

" Yeah, thanks." Laurie and Bart thanked the woman for welcoming them both into the school so easily.

" So, are you guys ready to see your rooms?" Kitty asked.

" Maybe I should go get our stuff first. It should only take me a few minutes to get there and pack." Bart said to the woman.

" Yeah. Can you bring me my stuff first? I want to get settled in." Laurie asked the boy.

Bart leaned over and kissed Laurie on the cheek. " I'll be back in a flash." Bart joked before running out of the room.

" Okay, now that he's gone. Wanna tell me how this happened? I'm dying to know." Kitty asked the girl.

" Well, I mean I'd been attracted to him for a while. But this whole mess with Hope and the phoenix, I guess I just gathered the courage to finally kiss him." Laurie replied.

As the girls chatted, Bart had already made his way back to Utopia and was in the process of packing, Laurie's belongings.

" You know, know that I think about, maybe I shouldn't be the one packing her things. But we are dating, so... You know what I'm just going to hurry up." Bart grabbed the last bit of essentials Laurie asked for and started his run back to the school.
