Wyldes: In The Home Of The Non-Humans

Growing up a hunter with a human father, Vannea's world turns upsidedown when she sees the nearby village in flames, people scattering and fleeing to avoid the fires, all the while trying to salvage their precious items and trinkets. The humans, aside from her father, are disgusted at the sight of her, temporarily forgetting about the fire and their items. She looks for her father, Orion, in all the chaos, seeing him helping an elderly couple get away safely. Before she could even blink, the elderly couple collapsed, taking Orion with them, and then Orion is motionless. Shot by an arrow through the heart, Orion is now dead with Vannea left on her own and to her own devices while in her world of grief. That is until a man, as big as a bear on it's hindlegs, with muscles that show through his baggy shirt, and dark as midnight hair and stunning blue-black eyes, shows up when she is mechanically going through her day-to-day chores of chopping, tying, killing, gutting, skinning, cooking, sell. He presents her with an opportunity to forget about the prejudice ways of humans, and to live in his world, to get stronger and to be happier. Will she accept? Will she find happiness? Will she be welcomed into an unknown territory with open arms? Or will she find out how dark and scary this new world is? Or how terrifyingly frightening the humans actually are? Will she be able to get back on her feet? Will she turn her world around? Will she find answers to her dying questions? Will she know that there's more secrets about herself she needs to uncover?

The Mountains

Surrounding the Human Kingdom are impassible mountains, their peaks reaching the clouds and even on a cloudless day, you can barely see the top with 20/20 vision. Passed those peaks are where monsters and demons, fae and elves, and fairies and nymphs, are said to live. These other-worldly and non-human creatures are called Wyldes, and passed those peaks are The Hinterlands". Wild, uncharted and unknown lands that humans can't ever reach, not without the help of someone or something that lives in The Hinterlands.

Found at the edge of the mountains on the human side of the territory, a few-week-old baby was found. Wrapped up in a purple blanket that, even folded and wrapped multiple times, still was too big for the baby. It was obviously made to last the child for many years, hence the size and thickness of it. There was a note that went with the baby.

'The name of this baby is Vannea, whoever finds this, please keep her safe.'

15 years later, Vannea has learned to kill, skin, gut, and cook animals, she knows how to chop wood, get a fire going, even with little equipment, and carve plates, bowls, ornaments and utensils from wood. She also knows how to bargain and make trades, or even get a better price from traders that fits what she makes in a week or so. Her father, Orion, taught her everything she knows, including stitching her holes that appear in her clothing from her working in the forest with branches and sticks and roots that want to do you harm, figuratively, if you're not careful.

Taking a break on a log, Vannea is on her way to the nearby village to trade some wood for money. She takes a sip from her leather water pouch, closing her eyes and relishing in the temporary freshness of the water before it takes on that awful leather taste. Upon opening her eyes, she looks immediately at the sky, shocked at what she saw.

'What in the..?!'
