Chapter 21

Geoffrey didn’t correct him. Tulips…daffodils, close enough.

“I like nature’s decorations, you know what I mean?”

Geoffrey knew precisely what he meant.

“And they’re only around for so long. No one bothers with them up there, so I brought them here,” Tag said, “for us to enjoy. They had a whole hill of those…Eastery flowers. Not tulips…”

“Daffodils,” Geoffrey supplied, because it seemed as if Tag wanted him to.

“Yeah. Daffodils. They’re surrounded by grass and other weeds, like someone gave up on ‘em. Seems…seems sad to me.”

Aww.

“No one should ever give up on something so beautiful and strong. The way they fell over when it snowed on them a while back but then popped right back up and flowered a couple weeks later, that’s a frigging metaphor, dude, something to aspire to.”

Geoffrey wanted to kiss him. “Tag’s a nice name,” he said instead.
