Chapter 29

Mason entered Jett's room with a proud father like smile as Jett was preparing for the wedding. "I always knew you were going to be something special, son. Look at you. You are sure making the XFW part of royal history, aren't you. I was wrong for telling you to leave her back then, but I'm glad you found a way to fix it," He said, coughing.

"You okay, old man?"

"Yeah, I just can't get rid of this cough. I'll be fine. Anyway, I am sorry for insisting you leave her behind."

"Don't be sorry, Mason. It was the right thing to do in the long run. I don't have any regrets. I wanted to ask you. Do you think I can do this?" Jett sat on the bed looking for his long-time mentor's advice. "I'm no king even though I play on on TV now."

Mason joined him, taking a slow breath. Looking away, he thought about Jett's start at XFW and how much he had grown as a man over the years. "From the very first day I signed your contract, you have done everything I asked of you. Yes, you were a screw up when we met, but you worked harder than anyone in the company to make it right. That's why I plan to one day pass the business down to you and Scarlett. Given you still want to be there. I don't have a doubt in my mind that you will make the best king for this country as well as a leader for future wrestlers. You're already making a difference and you don't even see it yet."

"How so?"

"Well, look at how you stood up for Bella and approached parliament. I would have never had the courage you do to make such a bold statement. They could have thrown you in jail, yet you still pushed forward to do what's right. That alone says what type of man you are."

"I'm just winging it, to be honest. All of this is insane, but I love her and I'll do anything to make her my bride. Today, I become king and I feel like I'm not even ready."

"Eh, you're ready. You go out there and be her king. The rest will fall into place on it's own."

"Thanks Mason. I want you to know something. I didn't have the best father, as you know. You are as close to a real dad as I ever had and I appreciate you believing in me. I will always see you as a second father."

"Jett, that means the world to me. Thank you."

"I still can't believe you talked them into using XFW to televise this wedding. People must think we are insane."

"To be a wrestler you have to be a little crazy," Mason chuckled.

"I guess that's true. So, I guess that you already have plans for Bella for an on-screen role."

"Damn right I do. I talk to her last night and she's ready to get in the ring."

Jett chuckled at the absurdity of it all. "Damn. This is all crazy, isn't it? But I wouldn't change a thing. I'd do anything for that woman. I think she'd do great as a wrestler if she wanted to. Bella's very athletic. Have you seen her on that skateboard? She's a daredevil."

"Oh, yeah. We already have ideas to incorporate a skate ramp down to the ring. The fans would go wild."

"Why doesn't that not surprise me," Jett said, adjusting his tie.

Interrupting the conversation, William walked in dressed in full royal attire while looking over his schedule. "The queen is ready, Your Highness. First, you will head to the cathedral church for the wedding. After the nuptials, you will ride the royal horse-drawn carriage through the streets of the city back to the castle from there. A full traditional parade will follow you to the castle while the people watch from the sidewalks. When you return here, you will join Arabella to the royal suite overlooking the courtyard. From that balcony, they will crown you king while the people of Mecca cheer you on. For the first time in over one hundred and fifty years, commoners will enter the castle walls for your coronation. This is a monumental event, my boy. You did it."

"I guess we are ready then."

"It seems so. You're about to be king of Mecca Island."

Seeing that was his cue to leave, Mason hugged Jett and headed out. "With that I guess I'll head to the church. I'll see you later, Jett. Text me if you need anything."

"I will. Thank you, Mason. For everything."

As Mason left the room, Willam walked over to straighten Jett's suit. "You look nervous. Master Fjynn."

Jett chuckled saying, "I'm going to be Wrestler turned king. Wouldn't you be?"

William joked noting, "I'd be utterly terrified, my boy. I wanted you to know that I think Arabella made the right choice in wanting you as her king. You're a good man and I am proud to have met you. In truth, I'm very proud of you both. I didn't have the courage and strength to fight parliament for my love myself, and you changed out lives. Life in secret with Cora was hard. Without you and Bella, I wouldn't have my own bride's happiness and seen my family together. My son has never been happier than to have his parents finally married. I owe you my loyalty and my friendship."

"You owe me nothing, WIlliam. But I will kindly accept your friendship. Now, what do you say we go get my queen. It's long over do, don't you think?"

"Agreed. After you, Your Highness."

At the church, Bella was a rattled mess. She hadn't sat still in over an hour and she kept trying to bite her fingernails as Scarlett kept smacking her hands out of her mouth.

"Stop fidgeting," she scolded.

With a huff Bella just rolled her eyes. "I can't help it. I'm nervous," she said, turning up the volume on her headphones.

Both woman had been on edge all morning.

Scarlett snapped saying, "Bella, turn off that dang metal music and stand still. I can't get your dress zipped. You must really be Jett's soulmate because you're just like him. I have never heard of a queen who rocks out to Pantera. Especially on her wedding day."

Bella laughed, singing, "Re... spect... walk....!" Bella turned her headset off. "Fine. I like that song. It gets me psyched up. It's like my way of getting pumped up to go in front of all those people." She threw up rock hands and stuck her tongue out. "Metal Queen Bitches!"

"You're a nut, but I love you for it. So, what's in the box over there?" Scarlett asked.

Bella ran over and grabbed the box in both hands, excitedly. "Oh! Come see! I had special crowns made for Jett and I for the coronation I know he likes Medieval stuff like I do and I wanted to do something special. I had a Medieval-style crown for us both made with his winged logo to match. My crown has a smaller version than his. He doesn't know, but I asked his stylist to find a photo of some old robes and design something just for him. He found this old Conan the Barbarian looking king from our history books and it's going to blow his mind. It's one of his favorite movies so I knew he'd like it. Jett's going to look like a warrior king. The Prime Minister suggested something special but I can't tell you about it all. It's a surprise. Your dad helped us to put it all together."

"Boo. You can't tell me anything?"

"Well, all I can say is it way to connect XFW with Mecca Island's traditions. It's not all fu-fu and old fashioned, so Jett will like it."

"This is so cool, Bella. He's going to love it. The crown looks like a medieval skull and he's into that goth stuff like you are."

Cora stepped in with a perky skip to her step. "Girls, Jett is here. It's time for the wedding."

Bella spin around and looked like she would faint. "I'm not ready."

"Bella, you are as ready as you can get. It's just cold feet."

"But, what if she changes his mind and stands me up at the alter?" she asked in a panic.

Scarlett just threw her hands up in retreat. "She's been doing this all morning. Cora, talk to this girl."

"Bella, you're over reacting, sweetie. He's ready. He looks amazing and he's waiting for his bride. You have nothing to worry about."

"But... What if I faint. Or fall. Or... oh no. What if I get nervous and throw up on him? I would die. Just die."

Going to Bella's side Cora took her face in her hands. "Bella. Look at me. Take a slow deep breath and relax. Every bride worries about these things. You are going to go out there and will be just fine. Let me ask you. Do you love him?"

"With all my heart and soul," Bella said looking petrified.

"Do you remember when you met? How you kept hiding away with him, thinking I didn't know. What did I tell you?"

"You told me that if I really loved him that I needed to find a way."

"And you did, together. Just like you will for the rest of your lives together. He fought for you and you fought for him. Now all that's left is showing him how much you love him by becoming his bride."

"You're right. I'm being silly." Bella reached to take Scarlett's hands in hers. "I'm getting married. Can you believe it?"

Scarlett wiped a tear from her eye. "Go get your fairytale King."
