Worlds Unbound: A Gamer’s Quest

The power of the Gamer System was something I had only ever dreamed about. Now, it's a reality that's brought me into the very Universes I've longed to explore all my life. The question is, how far can I climb? And just now many lives will it take for me to experience them all?

Chapter 11

"Wha-Oh!" She exclaims, her eyes finally looking away from my crotch to stare into my gold eyes, blinking for a moment in surprise.

Apparently, she figured that I would have already heard her name by now, and for good reason. Practically all anyone in this school cared to gossip about was the latest rumors she'd tell on the size of guys' junk, and whatever peeping scandal the Perverted Trio had gotten themselves caught doing.

"My name is Aika. Aika Kiryuu. I'm in the year below you." She bows, forcing me to do the same. I already miss giving handshakes, it kept me from getting my uniform wrinkled around the waist like bowing causes. But maybe I'm just doing it wrong? My [Language: Japanese] skill didn't exactly come with the required social mannerisms included. "I was wondering if you'd like to join me for lunch?"

Thinking it over for a second, I eventually settle for an agreeable shrug. It's not like I've got anything else to do while I'm stuck here. "Sure, I'd love to."

As she cheers, I have to admit that the girl-next-door look really works with her personality. The happy smile on her face almost hides the growing blush on her cheeks as she fiddles with one of her brunette pigtails.

+5 Affection with Aika Kiryuu … Affection: 10 | Obedience: 0

Nice. I don't know if I'll get anything for getting someone's Affection and Obedience up to 50 or 100, so I'm going to use Aika to figure it out. She seems like the easiest one to get Affection up high enough to find out, considering how few people I've met.

Quickly finding a table to sit down at in the cafeteria, it comes as no real shock to discover that no one actually eats on the building's rooftop like every anime likes to depict. Most of the time the doors are locked tight to prevent students from trying to kill themselves by jumping off it. Even in this Universe, Japan still has one of the highest rates of suicidal students in the entire world.

How do I know this? They talked about it on the first day, along with offering counselling services for anyone who's feeling stressed out.

Ignoring that dark topic for now, I open up the lunch that I brought with me while Aika does the same across from me. Hers looks to be the typical bento that you can buy for a good price at one of the markets, whereas I've taken to making my own lunches since I used to do it a lot before I died. I'm not sure if there's a Cooking skill or something, but I'd definitely get pretty good at it if there was.

My 'lunch' is really nothing more than some cut up chicken that I cooked an extra portion of this morning for breakfast, to go with a bowl of rice and a fried egg. But it's filling enough, and I can't complain about meals when I'm able to buy as many ingredients as I want with my [Gamers Credit Card].

As we eat, Aika and I make small talk to pass the time. I'm not sure if she's just looking for gossip, or it's because of my dick size, but she seems fairly interesting in every question I answer.

"So, you live all alone in your house?" She asks hesitantly; not wanting to pry, but curious all the same.

"Yep." I reply, taking another bite of chicken. "My parents passed away a year ago, so now it's just me." That's not even remotely true, it's just the backstory that the Gamer System created to explain why I was all alone in the house that it gave me.

The complete bullshit spiling from my mouth is surprisingly accepted by Aika as she offers a consoling smile.

"I'm sorry to hear about that. I'm kind of in the same boat as you are…my parents died when I was young, and I was sent to live with my grandmother." Her smile goes from sad to happy as she talks about her family. "She's actually why I got accepted into Kuoh Academy. She's a former alumnus, and was able to pull a few strings despite the lofty entrance requirements."

Aww, that's so sad!

You should cheer her up!

'Agreed.' Deciding to take the risk, I reach across the table to place my hand on top of hers. Giving it a comforting squeeze, I feel her squeeze back as she smiles thankfully.

Affection Check - Have: 10 / Required: 5

Passed!

+5 Affection with Aika Kiryuu … Affection: 15 | Obedience: 0

Like I said, I'm not a dick who pushes people away for no reason. And the fact that I both passed an Affection Check, and got some more Affection out of it is just an added bonus.

Choosing to stick with safer topics after that, what follows is a genuinely nice meal together. Most of it was spent with me asking questions about the school, the town, and some of the more popular students. Rumor had it the Perverted Trio were once pretty popular before they hit puberty. One of them -the bald one, I think- had been on track to becoming a professional soccer player before he and his two friends gave it all up to peep on girls.

Truly, the teenage boy's mind is a simple place.

Granted, not all of them are as bad as those three, but most of us do come close. At least we're smart enough to understand that it's best to keep those thoughts private, unlike the trio who openly make perverted comments that everyone can hear..
