World War Nether (Midnights)

Walter, a young teen, relocated to Europe with family. Just under a year in the UK with his new girlfriend, Nicole, things go relatively smoothly until the course of their lives completely changed in a direction no one saw coming. They wake up in a mythological nightmare, saturated with mystery on every side. It was a place that was completely infested with every type of mythological beast, a place full of magic, a place full of imposters, a place without sun or moonlight, a place ravaged by an ongoing war, and no one was who they claimed to be. Walter gets caught up in the heat of the conflict, and somehow, HE IS THE CAUSE OF THE WAR THAT BEGAN 7 YEARS BEFORE HIS ARRIVAL. “How could this be? Who am I? Why is everyone after me?” Walter wondered, as he was being tossed around by different groups that all struggled to keep him in their custody. In less than a week of his arrival, he becomes the most wanted man in the whole dimension. Wanted by man, spirit and beast. Walter began considering what path to follow as those words, ‘The meaning of life is that it stops, and we only understand death after it has placed its hands on a loved one.’ rang through Walter's head. “Can I really get a second chance to relive?” At the end of his rope, Walter comes to the conclusion that it is man's innate nature to be evil, seeing that even in death, humans are still at war. But in the face of despair, Walter finds a reason to fight back!

Nicole, did you kill the Prince?

"Ever since we returned from the mission, Nariah has been acting strangely towards all of us. She won't speak to anyone, always isolating herself. She clearly has empathy for the Prince."

"Not this crap again." Nicole yelled.

"Let me finish." Jamie interjected, "My fellow noblemen, these aren't the reasons I am calling her out. I don't care about what she feels. I only care about the mission. " he took a pause, "I'm placing her in the spotlight because Nariah did not kill the Prince." As Jamie spoke these words, the courtroom was filled with noise and reactions from the attendees.

"Silence!" The Queen firmly demanded.

"Being the most skilled warrior in the land and the only transitionist left after her mother's depatur–"

"Your Highness, I was with you when the Prince was taken," Nicole interjected.

"That's not where I'm going. She thought she wouldn't be caught? but I assure you, Walter isn't dead."

"How do you know that?" The Queen asked.

"Your Highness, Walter and Nicole got to the underworld at the exact same time. That has never happened," Jamie affirmed.

"Where's all this coming from?" Nicole asked, her face expressing her shock. "If all these things you say about me are true, how can you explain the fact that I was with the Queen when it happened?" Nicole asked, fixing her eyes on Jamie as she spoke.

"Ever since your mother got banished, you have had your suspicions about the Kingdom.

Your loyalty is questionable, and maybe Jotunheim has promised you a prize for reuniting the King with his beloved Prince, and since they have no transitionist, this was the perfect opportunity." Jamie said as he turned to her, taking steps towards her.

"You're out of your damn mind!" Nicole exclaimed.

"One more observation I have, Your Highness. Everyone in the underworld has blue eyes, but Walter's eyes are still black, and your trusted warrior, Nariah, gave the Prince contact lenses to make his eyes blue so he would blend into the underworld, making everyone think he's one of us. Unfortunately for them, one of them got knocked out along the way."

Nariah chuckled before concluding, "you're just insane and out of your mind."

"No!" Jamie exclaimed, "you're the one out of your mind! How could you have fallen for such a person? Aren't you aware of the atrocities his Father has committed? He cares little about anyone or anything, not even his soldiers, he destroys villages and cities and turns a blind eye to the people who rested there." Jamie exclaimed, his rage being imminent.

"I showed you my scars, did you not see how much they've hurt me. I'm proof of the horrors that his army can do. Are you also not aware of how they killed my Father while he tried to save me from them? If you've forgotten, the plan was to avenge those whose rest have been disrupted, and end this war once and for all. How could you be so selfish?" Jamie roared.

"Don't you feel ashamed? Blaming me for your incompetence in securing Walter and coming up with all these stupid theories. I played my roll in bringing him here. The rest was your fault." Nicole replied, also raising her voice.

Jamie raised his hand in an attempt to deliver a blow, but Nicole deflected it with ease and pushed him back.

"You are not only a coward, you are also incompetent at that." Nicole concluded.

"Enough! The both of you!" The Queen yelled as she stood to her feet. They both comported themselves and bowed their heads as she approached.

She took majestic steps towards the both of them, their heads still bowed. She walked towards Jamie, she stood so close to him that he could feel her breathe on the skin of his bowed neck.

"Thank you for your zeal in trying to bring this war to an end." She whispered, turning towards Nariah. She gently placed her hand on Nicole's chin and slowly guided her chin upwards, looking directly into her eyes.

"Nariah," she called in a very low tone as the bluish colour of her iris began to glow. Her finger uplifting Nicole's chin, raising her face up.

"Did you kill the Prince?" She asked, her voice still in a low tone.

"Your Majesty, I killed him. I put a knife through his chest while he was asleep." Nicole said, her voice quivering.

The Queen's eyes ceased glowing as she gently removed her finger from Nicole's chin. She turned her back as she walked slowly back to her seat. She arrived at her seat, her back still to Nicole, she said, "Your mother's good heart also led to her down fall and now, you've made the same mistake. Guards, take her away!"

"Your Highness!" Nicole exclaimed as a trio of well armored guards, whose heights towered over all who stood beside them, took her into custody. They were dressed in shining silver armor, in which their figures were concealed, up to their facial features as the silver armor concealed the faces of these men, not even a slit for breathing was left.

"I seriously expected better from you, Nariah," The Queen said as she took her seat and watched as they dragged Nariah out.

"This should be a lesson for anyone who betrays the Kingdom, regardless of your status, there are consequences for not obeying command." she paused briefly before giving the command, "Lock her up, to be executed by dawn,"

The armored men effortlessly hauled Nicole out of the courtroom, as she fought desperately to break free. The strength of these soldiers was on a completely different level. The people present were astonished at the sheer strength of these warriors and how easily they were able to apprehend Nicole.

Just when they'd reached the stairs outside the courtroom Nicole was able to wrestle a knife from one of the soldier's sheaths, stabbing him in the arm while with a well-suited kick to the other, she broke free, breaking into a run in desperation to save her life.

Nicole was the most formidable warrior in all of the Nether, her speed was unmatched by any other warrior and since her arrival into Nether, she displayed inhuman strength. Over time, she honed her battle skills to surpass any other. Though an enemy, she was respected by every soldier of Jotunheim.
