A Quiet Moscow Night

Dimitri Karchenko walks along with the cold and dark roads of Moscow. The Kremlin was behind and covered by gently falling snow. There was no one on the roads of Russia's Capital despite the millions living in it.

As he walked he realised the presence of hundreds of policemen and women stationed outside government buildings, they were armed to the teeth. Cleaners were also hard at work, trying to clean away the graffiti created by protesters the day before.

"The president has declared martial law in the cities of Ukraine and Crimea as well as in the cities of Saratov, Saint Petersburg and Omsk." The reporter said from one of the giant TV screens hanging from one of the skyscrapers, "the First Guards Tank Army has been called up to protect the civilians of the cities from..."

Dimitri places his hands into his coat's pockets to keep them warm as he walked into a small cafe near the city centre.

"Sir." The cafe owner said as he walked to Dimitri when he entered, "we're closed."

"When a flag drops another will take its place," Dimitri replied in which the owner turned around and walked towards the wall at the end of the cafe.

"Sir, this way." the owner said as he pushed a block in the wall and the wall slowly gave way revealing a stone stairway leading downwards to some unknown and secret level.

"Thank you, comrade," Dimitri said as he walked down.

"Russia Shall Rise." the owner said as the wall closed behind Dimitri.

As he walked down the stairs the sound of men discussing plans grew louder and louder until he arrived at a steel door protected by two men dressed in Army uniforms.

"Sir!" They said in unison as one of them opened the door.

"Russia Shall Rise," he said as he walked in.

In the steel room, dozens of military generals and politicians were discussing plans around the massive round table but when they saw Dimitri they stopped and saluted by placing their fist to their chest.

"As you were." He said as he took his seat at the massive round table.

"We are ready sir." General Alexander of the Western Military District handed him a datapad.

"All of our troops and followers are ready, we are awaiting your command." Admiral Rokov said.

Dimitri took the datapad and found himself looking at a map of Russia along with the location of its cities and towns as well as the locations of all military units.

"Remember strike fast and hard," Dimitri said, "take the key cities and all bases and arsenals, but most importantly take their missile bases."

"Yes Sir!" the Generals and Admirals replied as they rushed to prepare their troops for what was to come.
