The Messenger of an ILL Fate

The sun rises over a mourning city, the wails of wifes who have lost everything their kids, husbands, homes even...they sound out through the ruined city like a bird in the morning.Meanwhile in the Jarls Longhouse he speaks with his advisor, dozens listening in.In a room with a table long as a house,he sits at the end with his hand over his face.Still very angry that the Raven-sheilds would go to this length.

After a long period of silence the Jarls voice booms across the room.

Varkan-I will be joining the war personally.A raid on Raven Rock is the only answer to this.End of the hearing,go home, rebuild,I will finish this my self.

Everyone in the hall goes into an outburt, but the jarl simply raises his fist and silence ensues.

Varkan-The Decision is final,no words can change this now.I take off today to Raven Rock, there I will meet with The Storm Bears and end this...

The giant Jarl rises from his throne and walks back into a room behind it.The people in the hall are left speechless their mouth hanging as they stare at each other in awe.Though it was such a simple act of power, that much left even everyone speechless at the fact of domination his voice held over them.So much so no one said another word and left the hall thinking deeply...What a "man".

A FEW HOURS LATER

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Varkan-Guard this letter with your life as I entrust the future of this war with you,Oswald.

Oswald-Yes my Jarl...

I take the letter and storm out the Long House rushing to the stables and taking a horse that was waiting for me.It's white coat contrasting extremely with the ruined city.

The City gates pull up and we rush out as I begin my journey I can only think of what this letter contains.

I was called to the Jarls Longhouse so suddenly, the thick tension everywhere almost made me unable to breath wanting to just break down and cradle myself. But one look at the Jarls face so high up it was like I was staring into some living statue. Those glowing yellow eyes gave me drive to continue, that such a powerfull man relied on me to do something for him.To carry this letter of utmost importance to the Storm-Bears,I know I can not fail..

2 DAYS LATER

*crack*Wooosh*

As my head slams into a branch, jolting me awake,I look around my self at the terrain.More flatland barely any trees and lots of giant stones.

These must be the Raven plains, then I must be enclosing onto the main army over at Rokenslad. But then how long have I been riding then?I haven't stopped once and what's greater than that is this horse I ride on hasn't stopped or whined once.As if it felt total obligation to get there as I did.Almost unnaturally so.

So as time went on I slowly started to wonder just what exactly was within this letter that made me feel this way.Just what could drive someone to this length of duty. But I remained steadfast in my duty never to slow down once not to eat,not to sleep, not to empty my bowles.I would never slow down until I arrive there.

ROKENSLAD

*HORN BLOWS*

My eyes fly wide open,my body so weak and tired.I just barely manage to steer the horse away from a wall.Pulling on it's steers bringing it to a halt.Damm near flying off the beast it collapses underneath our combined weight.I hear dozens of footsteps and yells as I roll over staring up into the sun,it's giant warm rays giving me warmth, that's when I realize..Why am I soo cold?

Is this Death's frosted grip over me?

Just what exactly did I do to get here?

YES!

The letter?

I MUST DELIVER THE LETTER?

Oswald-Letter!!

Soldier-WHAT?

Soldier 2-Get the captain over here now!

Oswald-The Letter!,take this letter!

I reach into my pocket, feeling the coarse paper on my cold fingers.I grab it and look up.

Where did the sun go?

I squint my eyes as a giant figure comes into focus...the jarl?

Oswald-Jarl Varkan is that you!?,I have the letter take it!*my voice shaking*

I don't why I have this letter,only that I must deliver it.

Oswlad-here*hands over the letter*

Zodd-Thank you...

The giant man puts his hand over my face, his warm skin almost making me happy.

Zodd-You can rest now...warrior.

Is that a light!?

No it's a flying horse!?

What is that chanting?

It calls to me fiercely,to join it.Is that Valhalla?

Oswald-*heavy exhale*

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just who sent this man?

What is in this letter?

Why did he call me Jarl Varkan?

He seems to have died in my arms, yet strangly it was a peaceful death. And even through that I could feel what struggle he had gone through to get here. His mal nourished horse, his body of just bone and skin. His face sunken so deeply, that I put my hand over it to hide it...Even though I have torn men's flesh from their heads I could not stand the sight of this man.

Why?

I carry the man into my tent, laying his body in my bed.Why I do not know, only that I am doing it as if he was a great hero.

After laying him onto my bed I hold the letter in my hand and make way to the Hersir's Office.

HERSIR OFFICE

I push the door open and duck under the doorway.Thork's face suprised to see me,I say nothing and hand him the letter.

Thork-What's with the face?Looks like you saw a ghost!...hmm what's this?

He begins to read the letter,

"Thork my General,We must meet with everyone at Ravens Rock. The city has been left in ruins after a Drauger attack.I will be there awaiting your arrival. The end of this war comes and we will win...below this are the names of all who were lost, reveal this to the men so they may fight with rage in their hearts as I do..."

Thork-What the....

Though I felt like asking so badly what the letter contained,I held my excitement in for what seemed like the first time I had done such thing.I simply took a glance at Thork's surprised face and left the room.

What's happening is as I fear beyond me now.
