This morning is finally the day we return to London with the Hogwarts Express. I can't wait to get home, I have so many things I have to prepare in London and so little time.
Daphne and Hermione joined Susan and me on the return trip. I really need to make close friends with some boys at school. Not that I hate the company of girls who will become hot in the future, but I would also like to be able to chat with other guys even if they do not yet have my mental age. Loneliness can become toxic to the mind.
The only one I started a friendship with was Edward. But unlike me, he doesn't come home for the holidays. His parents are breeders of magical creatures and provide in particular the pet shop of Diagon Alley. From what he told me, they are currently on a business trip in Australia to import new exotic species.
"So what are you going to do during your holidays?" Daphne decides to break the silence that had settled in the compartment.
"I'm going home to my parents. I'll probably spend my days in their dental clinic reading." Despite the fact that the question was not addressed to her, Hermione is the first to answer.
"Their dental clinic?" Oh yes, it's true that the notion of dentist does not exist among wizards. A potion and our teeth are as good as new. Daphne seems a little lost when Hermione tells her about her parents' job.
"Well, yes, my parents are dentists. They're doctors who tend people's teeth." I feel like Daphne and Susan don't even get the idea of a dentist.
"The Muggles doesn't have teeth healing potion, they have another system where they go every six months or a year to a doctor who checks that their teeth are healthy and growing properly. If there is a problem, they have the tools to repair teeth." My explanation does not seem to convince them in the least.
"Let's talk about something else. Sean, what do you want to do during your holidays?" Susan asked a question that seems to intrigue them all.
"Not much, I'll continue working on several projects."
"That's what you say every time we run into you in the castle and then you disappear for the rest of the day. Where are you hiding to work?" Daphne leans forward like an eagle ready to rush on its prey.
"That's my little secret."
"Um, well, keep it. I'll find out eventually." She turns to look through the window and ignores me during the rest of the trip, which kind of breaks the mood and everyone get something to spend some time until our arrival.
Eventually, we arrive at the end of the line and get off the train. Elenea is already waiting for us on the dock, she has obviously decided to wear a white suit and matching shoes. I can see a lot of sorcerers next to her peeking at her.
"We have to leave you, my mother is here." Daphne and Hermione look at my mother. Hermione, who had never seen a half-Veela before is shocked.
"Is that your mother? She's really beautiful."
"That's nice. I'll tell her." I can't help but smile when I see her cheeks get reddening. "Have a good vacation." I leave the girls there and go find my mother with Susan.
"So, how was school?" My mother takes Susan's suitcase and we walk towards the passage that takes us back to the Muggle side of the station.
"It was pretty calm, if you don't count the troll attack in the dungeons."
"A troll in the dungeons?!" Her face gets tense.
"The teachers took care of it, but nobody knows how it got there. We assume it was someone who wanted to make a joke that went wrong."
She seems to be relaxing a bit. I should not have told her about the troll, she is clearly not yet comfortable to have returned to a wizarding society that welcomes former repentant deatheaters. She forces herself to smile and changes the subject of the conversation.
"And who were those two young ladies who got off the train with you?"
"Just two friends I made during the year. Daphne Greengrass is in Slytherin like me, and Hermione Granger is a Ravenclaw."
"Just two friends?" I don't like the smirk on her face, it smells like a lot of troubles. She glances at Susan, who smiles at her. "Come on. It's time to go home."
We take the car that my mother had parked in a parking lot near the station to reach the house. I am quite happy to finally come back here, and I especially like that I got back my new room that I renovated before leaving. There is certainly no internet like in our house in Mystic Fall because of all the protections against Muggles and other charms around the house, but this room is much bigger than the one I had there.
After dropping off my suitcase, I go down to the office to meet my mother. I find her sitting behind her desk, a huge register is open on it. Several documents were in front of her and she copied amounts into the register with a pen.
"Mom, can I talk to you for a minute?" She raises her head from her book while I drop one of my magiphone prototypes in front of her.
"What the hell is this?"
"It's a magiphone. It's a new communication device for wizards that works like a phone. Unlike the Muggle phone, it works in places where wizards practice magic with no problem at all. I thought we could create a factory and buy a shop in the Diagon alley to sell them."
She grabs the device and begins to examine it from every angle. "Does it really work?"
"Yes, the only flaw is that it only has a range of a few miles, but I'm working on it. I think it will be fully functional by the next vacation. That's why I'd like you to use our family money to fund the project." She seems to weigh the pros and cons before putting the magiphone back on the desk.
"I'm not sure it's a good idea. What makes you think it's going to sell?"
"You just have to see how wizards are communicating right now. They're sending owls to each other that take hours to arrive. There, with a simple little device, we could contact any wizard on the planet. You don't need to feed, train, and house owls to communicate anymore. I'm one hundred percent sure that it's going to be a huge revolution."
"I'll think about it, Sean, but right now our finances are not at their best. Many traders who work for us have not been very profitable in the last few years and it costs money to keep them afloat."
"That's all I'm asking you right now, in the meantime, here's a list of companies that should interest you." I gave him a little list I wrote a few days earlier, which includes companies whose stock market values are almost constantly increasing.
"Is that a list of Muggles companies? What do you want me to do with that?"
"Buy shares. Gringotts exchange galleons for Muggles currencies. All you have to do invests in the Muggles companies and turn your profits into Galleons. You'll get your investment back in a few years, not counting the value of your shares that will only increase."
"I'm not sure it's a good idea, Sean. Relying on Muggles money is not really worthy of wizards like us."
"Let go of these stupid bias. Money is money, whether they come from the Wizarding world or the Muggle world, it's the same thing. Do me a favor, make at least one appointment with an accountant to discuss it."
She sighs deeply and ends up giving up. "Well, I'll go to a specialist for more information before I decide anything."
"You're the best, I love you." I leave the office with a light heart.
For the time being, everything is going well. My family's fortune will soon be made. I've never been able to offer my parents much in my previous life. But this time I intend to make my family rich, and myself at the same time. And if I can't convince her to fund the project, I could always fund it myself with the philosopher's stone.
Speaking of that good old philosopher's stone. I hope Harry keeps his word and takes me with him, but in the worst-case scenario, I could always follow them quietly and grab the stone when Harry's unconscious. The only problem is that in this scenario, I will have to have a little confrontation with Quirrell. But that also means that I will not get the stone because I already want to use it, so the mirror will not give it to me.
In any case, I have a lot to prepare for the end of the school year.
