6 Chapter 6: His Reminder

Chapter 6

Felicia's eyes followed his to heart hand. She simply put it under the table in worry that he might explode at her. she looked up at him their eyes meeting. She sat frozen in her chair as he let out a sigh. The chair scraped back as he got up and walked towards her.

Standing before her she had tried not to visibly flinch by his domineering stature that hovered over her. She was used to all the violence that was usually inflicted on her. when she had gotten married part of her hoped, that even though this was a contractual marriage, he would not raise a hand against her, but that was short-lived seeing how he was able to lose his temper quite quickly.

Alexander bent down as he pushed her chair slightly back, taking her small hand in his. Felicia could not help but relax under the small heat that emanated from his hand and coursed through hers. He was quite warm, or maybe it was just the fact that her hands tended to be cold.

Alexander examined the blue bruise he had imprinted on her with the force of his hand. His mind fell into a slight frenzy as he sighed.

"Bethany," he called out as the maid from earlier had heeded to his call.

"You called, young master?" she questioned.

"Please bring an ice-pack," he requested as she nodded making her way out of sight.

Felicia felt quite baffled by his character. Was he bipolar? Was that the reason he was suddenly caring? Or was he feeling guilty with the way he had acted this morning? She could not figure him out.

"I'm fine," she said meekly trying to take her hands out of his. She was suddenly becoming too familiar and comfortable with the heat she had suddenly felt she needed, and that was a no-go zone for her.

Instead of letting go, he simply continued to hold her hand.

"No, you're not fine." He said quite assertively.

It appears this man was quite the challenging type. Though she had never experienced a relationship, and this was her first, Felicia was quite familiar with the different type of men that had existed in the world through the countless romance novels she and continued to read in the university library.

Bethany made her appearance and handed the ice pack to alexander who then lightly pressed her bruise. Unconsciously wincing at the cold pack on her cold skin, alexander flinched slightly. This CEO seemed as though he was unfamiliar in this type of behaviour.

"Does it hurt?" he questioned after a moment of silence, as though he was looking for the right words to say.

"No, it's just a little cold,"

He nodded as he continued to compress the wound, feeling as though it was enough, they had continued their breakfast at the quiet table none uttering a word to the other.

She felt as though she was suffocating. This man with whom she had vowed to live with for the rest oh her life, was quite cold, and she had known it from the moment they had met. Though she was the one that had proposed a contractual marriage, this was not the life she had wanted to wake up to every single day of her life

Mustering up the courage to try and start some small talk, shed looked up at him, who was now looking down at his phone, his eyebrows creased.

"Um… Alexander?" shed called out catching his attention.

"What is it?" he asked.

"About my studies," she began, as she faded off.

"You don't have to worry as I said, I will not hinder you in any way, id checked the school you had started attending and it seems you'll be able to go back, but you've missed quite a bit, but I don't think catching up I going to be a problem for you," he said.

She could not help but let a small smile make its way on her face, he was actually concerning himself in her affairs. She nodded at his words as he simply nodded back, looking back to the matter that was occupying the screen of his phone.

"Is something wrong?" she questioned as he looked up yet again.

Her palms suddenly felt sweaty as nervousness took over her. was she prying? She did tell him she would not meddle in his business.

"Its nothing my wife has to concern herself with, all you have to worry about is getting back on track with your studies, and ill work on taking care of us," he said confidently, making her smile.

It felt warm here and it was the warmth Felicia longed for.

"I know I said I wouldn't pry into your business, but it seems I couldn't help it," she said quite apologetically.

"Well, we are married, are we not?" he asked, "This isn't meddling," he said in a soft tone. "But" his voice hardened, "I hope you have not forgotten what I had told you last night. You must not forget this is a marriage of convenience, so even though we are going to spend the rest of lives together, excluding the fact that we may end up divorcing, we agreed that my business remains mines and yours remains yours. Do not pry Felicia. We made a deal." He reminded her.

Felicia simply nodded, as she swallowed feeling as though a stone had settled its way in her throat.

"Don't worry, I haven't forgotten," she said trying to keep her posture.

Yes, this was a marriage for convenience, but just like any young girl her age, there was a little hope she had that maybe he would overlook their agreement and come to love her, but she knew those were just false aspirations she had given herself.

This man did not love. And he most definitely would not love her.
