Dream

The sound of the engine roaring at the rear end of the car. I leaned back into the passenger's seat with a satisfied grin on my face. The window rolled down and the strong wind blew into my face, brushing my hair violently across my cheeks.

I used my fingers to brush them aside as I stared at the passing street lights.

A small laugh broke out from my lips, I turned to my seat just beside me. He also sat with the same small smile and gentle gaze at me.

He looked ahead with his hand still on the steering wheel.

The flash of a bright light up ahead blinded my eyes. All I could hear was the screeching sounds of the car trying to stop until it came in contact with the opposite car.

I slammed my head forcefully into the car, screaming at the top of my lungs.

My eardrums ringed loudly as it all happened so slowly. I fell into the dark abyss, my consciousness falling slowly with me.

I looked over to him beside me, my bloodied palm reaching over to him. His face was disfigured and covered in his blood. A light gasp escaped my lips as I slumped into my consciousness.

I could hear the sound of sirens, loud and muffled voices in a constant panic.

Struggling to stay focused. I pried my eyelids open even if it was for just a few seconds.

"Can…y-....hear..me" the voice got my attention.

My body was in excruciating pain. As I slowly feel myself sinking back into the abyss.

"Pleas… save him" I was able to mutter in slow breaths. Before I fell back into my slumber.

Someone brushes my hair softly, muttering soft words into my ear. I could start to feel my body as I slowly returned to myself. My eyes drifted open to see him sitting beside my bed with a soft smile. He buried his face into my palm, rubbing it softly against his cheek.

"You finally woke up," he said, with a relieved grin.

His palm entangled with mine, holding on tightly. I tried to muster up enough strength in my arm.

"We made it this time," I said softly.

His smile faltered a little. "What's wrong?" I said with a worried tone as he stood up still holding on to my palm.

"I wish I could say the same too" his fingers slipped away from mine gently.

I frowned slightly, trying to grip onto his palm but he managed to pry away from my grip.

"No, don't go! Please, I'm begging you." I pushed myself off the bed sitting up. I could still feel the numbness in my legs and arm.

"Don't leave me…, Where are you going?" my voice croaked a little as tears welled up in my eyes. I tore off the IV strip painfully but It didn't matter.

"Take care of yourself this time" he waved, almost disappearing into the light behind. I jumped out from my bed covers throwing myself onto his leg.

"You can't leave me again, I need you. Don't you fucking get that" I yelled as I held onto him tightly not wanting to let go at all cost. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I pleaded helplessly for him to stay and not leave.

"Alya!" His tone was firm. I looked up at his face which seemed to have turned angry all of a sudden. In a daze and confused I stared at him as his voice grew stern and louder.

"You need to wake up, Alya!" his voice boomed through my ear, startling me from my desk half awake.

I blinked a couple of times, my drowsy eyes looking up to see the teacher just inches away from the desk. A look of disgust from him as he stared daggers into my face.

"THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS WEEK THAT I CAUGHT YOU SLEEPING IN MY CLASS!!!!!!." He shouted, my eardrum being the closest felt like it was bleeding.

I looked away sighing and this added to his heated-up expression. He pointed out the door with a crumpled-up expression.

Just then the bell rang.

"My office now!" He shouted and made his way back to the teacher's table. He left without another word.

Not even the bell could save me.

The muffled whispers soon turned to bursts of laughter and gossip.

"Way to go, Alya, you pissed the maths teacher off," some said, they all left the class in unison.

Great another day to be scolded. I rubbed my forehead, thinking of the dream I just had. It wasn't the first time. Rather than a dream, it had slowly become a nightmare. And one thing that bugs me is that I could never see his face.

I stood up, my legs feeling wobbly. I should probably stop skipping gym class. I went over to the teacher's office to get my scolding.

I sighed exhaustively as I walked down the crowded hallway of students going for lunch. I hastened my steps thinking to myself if I finish there faster I would be able to meet up with them for lunch.

I pushed the door open to the teacher's office. Just then I hit someone smack in the face.

I jumped back startled then quickly rushed toward them as they had fallen to the ground. The person had worn a black baseball cap which covered his face, and the dark shade glasses he wore had fallen to another side of the floor. The look was old old-fashioned, who wore baseball caps anymore.

"I'm so sorry I didn't see you there," I said in an apologetic tone.

I stretched out my hand to help him up but he ignored me going straight for his glasses. In hurried steps, he got to his feet and pushed me aside walking out.

"Hey, punk! I said I was sorry " I said in an irritated tone. I grabbed his shoulder a bit but he dodged my hands. He had put on his glasses back and faced me.

A scoff from his lips sent me off. How dare he?. I balled my fist at him, inching closer. But the door burst open again and there stood the maths teacher glaring at me. I turned back to him but he had walked away. I took a step to go after him but the teacher stopped me by grabbing my wrist.

"You haven't served your first punishment but you're itching for another trouble." He held my wrist tightly.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot why I was here.

The maths teacher grumbled as he pulled me in.

"By the time I am done with you. You won't dare sleep in my class again." He said in a grumpy tone.

I gave up resisting since it was too late to go after him and looked at the hallway where he had gone down.

Jerk

Some minutes later,

I gasped reaching the finishing mark where the sports teacher stood. The grumpy maths teacher had handed me over to the sports teacher to deal with me. My worst luck ever.

I collapsed to the ground wheezing as I coughed trying to catch my breath.

The sports teacher came over my head, lying on the ground.

"What kind of wimp-ass kid are you? Come to think of it" he furrowed his eyebrows gazing down at me. "I don't think I've seen you in gym class."

"You must be imagining things, sir. I never miss a class" I lied using my pitiful state as a bonus.

He frowned, giving me a stern look, "then I will make sure to look for you in the next class". He passed me a bottle of water.

The school was over and I spent the last period jogging around the field.

I went to my locker to get my bag. I was completely drained.

A loud thump on the locker next to me made me jump, letting out a small squeak.

"Brandon!!!" I whined, "I told you to stop sneaking up on me. You could give me a heart attack." I said in an exaggerated tone. He laughed at my expression of pure disdain.

" Keep laughing, you don't know when it's going to hit you back," I said with a devilish grin.

" I'm sorry babe, I didn't mean to scare you," he said, coming closer he was taller than me. He drew me into a hug before pecking me softly on my forehead. I looked around hoping no one saw that.

My face was glued to his chest, I buried my face deeper into his cloth. This day was bad but now it wasn't so bad after all.

He drew back giving us space. I missed the warmth almost immediately but didn't want to whine about it.

With his pearly white teeth, he grinned at me.

"You weren't at lunch today. Some girls told me the teacher caught you slacking off in class again" he said with half smiling and laughing at the same time.

I felt my heart throb at how pretty he looked right now. Even the few people that passed were staring. How was I this lucky to date my best friend? I thought to myself.

I put my notebook back into my backpack, swinging it over my back. I slammed the locker shut and turned to face him.

"It was nothing I couldn't handle," I said

Someone cleared their throat behind us. We both turned instantly. It was Brandon's best friend. I think his name was Maxem. I always saw him around Brandon but we never exchanged words, just slight nods.

"Hey man," Brandon said as he swung his arm across my shoulder giving Maxem a smug look.

He rolled his eyes at the obvious taunt Brandon did to him.

Just these two guys beside me drew the centre of attraction in the school.

We made our way out of the school to the car park. His car was the only red shining automobile that stood out in the parking lot.

"Where are we headed," I asked as I entered the passenger's seat.

He gave me a nervous grin, "oh Ally baby, I forgot to tell you at the start I was called in by my father at the office. It sounds really important." He scratched the back of his neck.

I blinked confused but smiled,

"It's ok, I understand," I closed the door back. "We'll see later tomorrow in school," I said, going over to his side. He hugged me one more time before entering his car. His friend joined him in the passenger's seat.

With a huge grin, he said, "you know I love you, Al" he had a side smirk on his lips.

I couldn't help but smile back at him. I could feel my cheeks warm up my face.

"I love you too" with that he drove off, leaving me in the school yard alone.

"Guess I'm walking home" I muttered to myself.

Walking home on the sidewalk since I missed the bus. I passed by a taco bell spot.

After getting some taco bell, I skipped back enjoying the crunchy taste when I spotted Brandon's red car. I knew his red shiny car anywhere. I got to where it was parked. A restaurant stood just beside it.

A mischievous thought came over me.

"Time to pay back the surprise" I downed my last taco bell before entering the restaurant. He always frequented huge restaurants being the only child of an entertainment company.

So yeah, he was dripping rich. I knew him because our mothers were college roommates so we lived our whole lives together. Besides, my ordinary family wouldn't have a chance to meet his kind of family.

I scanned the restaurant looking for him. Why didn't he take me along? At least we could have visited this restaurant together. There was so much food to try out.

I had to focus on finding him. His blond hair came into view at the corner of the restaurant. I stepped forward, waving at him but stopped halfway when I saw a red-haired girl sitting across from him. My smile faltered.
