Some of the Maguses and Familiar on the asteroid didn't even have the courage to look up. After all, those who were taken away were killed and then eaten. The scene outside of the asteroid's atmosphere wasn't anything beautiful.

Back in the spaceships, the various Minor Elders and the Inner Elder watched the competition leisurely. They had seen this kind of thing many, many times. They didn't feel any pit either. Every single participant knew exactly what they were signing for, so it was their fault they died. First of all, most of the elders there were once participants in these kinds of exams and went through similar experiences.
