Sweetened Morning

Alice woke up to some clanging in the kitchen, and she rubbed a hand down her face when she realized that Noah wasn't next to her when she woke up with a slight panic. Yawning, she glanced down to see that he had changed her, but everything was still on her body so he just slipped on the hoodie.

It smelled like him, and it was very soft. She pressed the fabric of the sleeve to her cheek and made herself get out of bed since she had already lazed around enough. Stretching her arms above her head, she wiggled her way out off the soft mattress and cringed when her feet touched the cold wood floors.

She found her slippers outside the room wondering where she had last left them and put them on before padding her way to the kitchen where the pots and pans were clanging quite angrily. The sight that arrived in her eyes made her laugh, light and breathy, a remnant of the first few minutes of when someone woke up.

Noah was wearing a pink and frilly apron that she saw last time but didn't bother thinking twice about why it was there. It hung on a hook in the pantry that looked like the pantry went untouched for weeks at a time. Her eyes flicked up and down his form only to make her laugh out loud a gain.

To say the least, it definitely looked better than if she had ever worn it. The apron was too small on him, ending just a bit lower than his waist with the head opening so close to his throat. She was about to question why he had it since she could already see the embarrassment creeping into his face when he cut in.

"I got it from friends. From Jack and Oliver as a gag gift."

Alice covered her snicker with the back of her hand. "Why are you wearing it? Although, I would have to admit that it looks so good on you."

Noah huffed out a breath. "I wanted to see you laugh this morning."

The unexpected response made her blush. "You're too sweet."

He plated the soup that she made for him yesterday that she fed for him quite late at night that was in the pot she put in the refrigerator so that he wouldn't go too hungry and at least had something in his stomach as he took his medicine that was a little strong. Noah also made her eggs on toast with the groceries that she got.

It was really sweet that they got up despite having just been in such bad condition only a few hours ago. He didn't look too shabby at all. Noah was looking better, the flush returning to his skin as well as not overly sweating.

The golden skin that shined was certainly something that she was still getting used to. He was all male and getting into her business.

Alice took a seat at one of the stools on the island and smiled up at him. "Thank you for cooking. You didn't have to."

"I wanted to."

The toast scented of something sweet, perhaps some honey which was her preference. She leaned her chin on her propped-up hand and flicked her eyes up and down.

It was not fair that he looked this good in his plaid pajama pants that he switched into and his tight t-shirt stretching over his wide back, highlighting his lean and athletic form.

Noah turned around from the stove with his own serving in hand catching her in the action. God bless his soul for not commenting on it with the tips of his ears turning pink.

It in turn made her at a loss for words. She had no idea why. But it started somewhere. The uncurling feeling in her stomach was certainly going to be a problem.

He came and sat next to her, and they ate in comfortable silence. It was odd because Alice had never thought of the day when he and she would be together like this. Carefully slicing the toast that was topped with strawberries into her mouth, she hummed appreciatively to let him know that it was good.

"What are the plans for the day?" he asked.

Alice lifted a shoulder. "Whatever you want to do is game. I'm your companion for the day."

Noah rubbed a hand down his face, and Alice sent him an alarmed glance. "What's wrong?"

He met her eyes steadily. "You're not good for me."

She immediately took his words as she drove him insane, and she leaned back on her stool slightly to ponder why. They got along better lately. She would admit so herself. He was deadly serious about his words making her a bit self-conscious since she was so hyperaware of him by her side. Yet, she would want nothing less.
