Chapter 55

It went quickly, so fast that Siana’s head spun a little bit. She was stripped of the clothing she’d arrived in and re-dressed in a split gown of bone white material that felt a little bit like silk but was much heavier. When she was still, the fabric hung beautifully, but it was split front and back to make swimming easier. Siana didn’t have time to be embarrassed at being practically nude in front of strangers and the attendants handled everything with impersonal aplomb, so that was both weird and strangely comforting. They didn’t seem to notice her scars, or if they did, they just handled it with the same aplomb that they handled everything else with.

“Do you know your way back, my Lady?” One of them asked, patting at her hair. “You are as ready as we can make you.”

“Thank you and no, I’m totally lost.” Siana chanced a smile and received one in return. “I’m awful with directions.”
