43 <Different POV> Head Priestess

"Yvette," the man whispered in her ear.

Yvette looked at him, his eyes a deep brown color. "What, Emperor?"

He smirked and laid his head to rest on the crook of her neck. "Sleep with me."

"No."

He rubbed his face on her bare skin and whined, "Please?"

Yvette set down the documents for the Vestigal Court and whirled around to face the most powerful man of the nation. "Can't you see that I'm busy?"

"So?"

Sighing, Yvette cupped her face in frustration. She glanced at the many documents that graced her desk before she stood up. "Fine."

Delight flashed through the Emperor's face, and he swiftly picked up the head priestess. "Let's do something more than sleep, then?"

"No."

He pouted, "Fine."

..............

The head priestess awoke when a ray of sunlight fell upon her eyes. She glanced at the now-empty spot next to her. She placed her hand above his impression, feeling a coolness that meant that he had left long ago.

She stood from her bed and walked to the standard vanity that was in every priestess room. She stared at her reflection.

She was no longer pure.

Sighing, she glanced back at the documents. Before she turns herself in, she needs to finally put into motion her plan to improve the lives of the citizens.

"Just a while longer." And everything will be better.
