CHAPTER 2
Fred's mind raced as he found himself cradled in the palm of a giant being, a surreal and bewildering situation beyond anything he could have ever imagined. The giant Being started to get smaller, and before him, it took on the appearance of his beloved mother, with her golden hair and the kind eyes he had cherished throughout his life. For a moment, it was as if his mother had returned to him, her eyes brimming with the same love and tenderness he had known.
However, something in those eyes began to change, morphing into a look of profound pity. Fred couldn't help but feel a chill run down his spine as he realized that this Being, despite taking on the form of his mother, was not her at all. The voice that spoke to him was ethereal and otherworldly, a stark contrast to his mother's gentle tone.
"I am sorry," she said again, her voice carrying a sense of sincerity. "I thought it would be so much better if I used someone you are very familiar with. I am not your mother, and no, this is not a dream, and again I apologize."
Fred's mind was in turmoil, and the questions raced through his head. "Who are you? Where am I? And why do you keep apologizing?"
The Being responded, "I am what you would call a god, and you are dead."
Fred's disbelief was palpable. The words sounded surreal, and he struggled to make sense of them. She continued to explain, "Let me clarify: I was having a dispute with another god, and because of our scuffle, a rip in time and space happened. Then, you fell out of time and space."
Fred's confusion deepened. "What do... What do you mean I fell out of time?"
"It means precisely that," the Being replied calmly. "You were displaced from time and space, and subsequently, you perished. You might have heard stories about individuals inexplicably vanishing. Typically, in those cases, they got murdered, but once in a blue moon, this is the result. One moment, someone is standing on a street corner, and the next, they are gone. Most people struggle to fathom what they've witnessed because it occurs in the blink of an eye, and those who do manage to comprehend it often dismiss it as a mere trick of the eyes, as the alternative explanation is beyond their comprehension. Even the teen you pushed out of the way, he freaked out for a second, but because there was no one else at the bus stop, he just ran away."
Fred's sense of shock and disbelief led him to touch his body as if to confirm his existence, and he couldn't find anything amiss. He declared to affirm his existence, "I am not dead."
The Being responded with a matter-of-fact tone, "How do you know that? Is it because you think you have a body? Could you touch your crotch?"
Fred did as the Being instructed, only to find that his hand touched nothing where a certain part of his anatomy should have been. He was in shock, his world unraveling before him.
"Where... Where... Where is my dick!!!" Fred exclaimed.
The Being, seemingly unfazed by his distress, replied, "Like I said, you died. This is not your body; it is a temporary vessel I created. It is a rush job made so your soul won't dissipate. I didn't have time to make the finishing touches and just used an angel frame that didn't include those parts, which are unnecessary for this talk. Anyway, you died—get over it. We have important things to discuss."
After a moment of sheer panic and grappling with the reality of his situation, Fred managed to regain some semblance of composure. The Being spoke again, apologizing once more.
"Again, I'm sorry."
Fred, still reeling from the shock of it all, questioned, "Why are you sorry? Just give me my life back!"
The Being explained, "I can't revive you; that is above my causality. I don't have enough power to revive someone on the core planetos."
Fred was bewildered. "What do you mean?"
"It means I am not strong enough to do that," the Being elaborated. "But I can reincarnate you in a random body on this planet, or I can send you into what you people call a fictional plane of existence. If you choose the core planetos, I can't let you keep your memories. There are strict rules on this plane of existence."
Fred was overwhelmed by the complexity of the choices laid before him. "What?"
The Being continued her explanation, delving into the nature of fictional planes of existence and how they were connected to real-world experiences.
"Look," she said, "what you call literary works are all real planes of existence in their essence. Once in a while, the tiniest of cracks appear in existence, and a sleeping soul is able to look through it and observe that plane. When people are asleep, sometimes they can have astral travel. That is how the core of a fictional work is cemented. Of course, the writer embellishes the story to their taste, but the core is from the real world. Those other planes are more open to change since The One doesn't forbid alterations because there are endless copies of them. I can create another branch and put you in there, and I can even give you a boon, but your life as you know it is finished."
Fred was still struggling to process everything. He felt like he was spiraling out of control. "I... I don't know..."
The Being sighed and touched Fred's head gently, and his body began to emit a radiant glow.
"It looks like you love this world called Harry Potter," she observed. "I can send you there and give you a magic-based boon."
At the mere mention of the Harry Potter world, Fred's heart skipped a beat, and his thoughts became consumed by the possibilities it offered. When the Being sensed his temptation, she remarked, "Okay then, HP plane it is."
"I want to become the most powerful wizard to have ever lived and will ever live."
"Yee, no can do," she said with a hint of regret. "I can't give you a chosen boon. I don't have enough causality after creating the HP world branch reality. You can either have a chosen world or a boon. But be sure of what you choose because, in a random world, you might end up in the Warhammer 40k universe or a world without magic while having a magical talent."
Fred nodded slowly, absorbing the weight of the decision before him. He understood that there were risks involved, and the allure of becoming the most powerful wizard had to be weighed against the uncertainty of the outcome.
"So the drawback with a random boon is that it can be weak or useless," he summarized, seeking confirmation.
The Being nodded, acknowledging his understanding. "Good, you are getting things fast and started to think."
Fred's passion for the Harry Potter world was undeniable. His love for the magical realm created by J.K. Rowling had been a constant source of joy in his previous life, and now it was an opportunity to live within that world.
"I want the Harry Potter plane," Fred declared, his decision unwavering.
The Being accepted his choice with a simple nod. "Okay, let's never see each other again."
With a snap of her fingers, Fred felt a powerful surge of energy envelop him. As he looked upon the face that resembled his mother's one last time, he knew that this was the end of one chapter of his existence and the beginning of an entirely new adventure in the world he had always held close to his heart—the magical world of Harry Potter.
