LARA'S POV

It's the last race of the season, and the last race of mine before the break. Eric and Bianca are with me to give me details of the car. Eric is one of my strategists, which is great because he helps me to convince others of the ideas I came up with sometimes, and Bianca had become the team boss, and even though she had quite a few things to do, sometimes she would help with the car and always find a moment to check the car with me which also is great.

It was twenty minutes before we had to get into the car, and Cameron had his arm on my shoulders as usual, while the rest of them are around us.

"Won't you be sad to leave the competition for a season?" Amelia said with a small smile on her face. Ever since I've known this girl, I've always seen her so happy, which gives me a little feeling she keeps things to herself.

"I won't like not being able to get in the car, I assure you, but no one says I won't show up here." The rest laughed, as did Cameron, who had tightened his arm around me a little, bringing me closer to him.

I turned and gave him a small kiss, making him return it to me, but I soon turned around to focus my attention on the others, so he ends up intertwining our fingers and giving me a kiss on the temple.

"Not so impossible, in the end we have important things to do." Cameron murmurs but Bianca's face made it more than clear to me she heard it. I could tell the smile Cam had, mostly because he had turned his face towards me leaving it in the crook of my neck.

"Don't start, guys." Bianca's horrified face just now was great, and I must say I liked to poke her from time to time. "But it's the truth." Eric's face changed to one more like my sister's

"I don't need that information, thank you." Bianca ended up putting her hands to her ears so she wouldn't hear anything else, because I know she's more than clear I'll keep talking about it, it doesn't bother me at all to talk about my sex life, and she's more than clear about that.

"It's not going to be worse than when you walked into our dormitory." Eric's eyes widened and it didn't take long for him to turn to see my sister looking surprised. "Bianca! I can't believe you did it."

"It wasn't on purpose! I just wanted to let them know they would be late; it wasn't to see my sister have sex." Bianca had blushed so much she was almost the colour of a tomato and I could see how Cameron was trying to hide his laughter.

"Well, thank goodness, because otherwise I'd start thinking you like to see me having sex with people." Bianca blew all the air she had into her lungs and just like Eric's eyes, hers also increased in size. I'm pretty sure she didn't expect me to bring up the subject of when she caught me having sex with my teenage boyfriend.

"That one wasn't intentional either!" This time Cameron couldn't help but laugh, but he left his face in the crook of my neck, so as not see Bianca's murderous gaze.

"Let's stop talking about Lara's sex life and focus on the career instead." Eric shook his head, trying to get us to focus back on what we needed to do in a few minutes.

"I'm focused on the race." Cameron gave me a little kiss on the temple and the rest of the time we spent talking about what we would do on our vacation. Ten minutes earlier, it was time to get into the cars.

"Have fun out there, honey." I gave him a small kiss and ran my hands behind his neck. "I'll do it, in the end it will be the last race with my husband in it." Cameron nodded and placed his hands on my waist.

"I love you, Lara. Take care of yourself on the track." He gave me a little kiss and looked back at me, "I love you, Cam. I always do. Take care Cam," Cameron joined our foreheads and a small smile appeared on his face. "I always do."

We kissed each other and each went to our cars. Before I sat in the car, I looked to my right, which is where Cam's car was, and I blew him a kiss. It had become our pre-race ritual.

Before I sat down, I put on my protective gear and then sat down. I plugged in the radio and buckled up, making Bianca appear to squeeze me. "Have a good time out there, Lara, and show them what Lara Gallego is capable of. And take care of yourself."

I nodded and showed her my thumb, bringing a smile to Bianca's face. She gave the helmet a kiss and then went to the side of the track.

A few minutes later, the race started and I had managed to keep my position, but Cameron wasn't too far behind me and at any moment he would try to overtake me, but I'm more than sure I wouldn't let him.

He was about to get ahead when I pitted to change my tyres. I know I would get my position back and I would probably have to come in before Cam at the second stop, and that's why I was going to look after the tyres in the first few laps and then push again. That would help me keep my tyres longer.

Cameron had come in, but I had stayed behind him, and in the first few corners I could see the car slipping, and even though I could overtake him, it was better to stay behind him for a while, I liked the idea of overtaking him later, when we're in almost equal conditions.

After a few laps, I had pretty much glued myself to Cameron's gearbox, but I was looking for the perfect opportunity, although I couldn't take too long, because Amelia is coming fast behind me and getting closer.

"Lara, I hope you see how Amelia is getting closer to your gearbox" I smiled, mostly because I could see her without Eric saying anything to me. "I'm watching her, Eric, don't worry about it."

"Well, stop playing tag with your husband and get him ahead." I could hear his smile, making mine bigger. "That's what I'm at, thank you, Eric for your recommendation."

I heard Eric laughed, and I moved on to focus back on the race. A couple of laps later I had managed to overtake him and get away. There came a time when I couldn't see Cameron in the rear-view mirror, which was strange and a couple of corners later, they put a red flag, but I already passed the entrance to the pit lane, so I have to go around the circuit. I just hoped the driver is okay.

BIANCA'S POV

During the race, everything's going great, and you could see Lara is enjoying it to the fullest, mostly because I could see she has more speed than Cameron, but she didn't overtake him.

A couple of laps later, the cameras started to focus on Cameron's car which seemed to be losing speed, but after a few seconds she did it, so everything's great, until Cam took the apex of turn ten bad and ended up against the wall and the car separating in two.

That's when I prayed for them to put the red flag before Lara pass the pit lane entrance, but they put it just as she had passed, which would mean she would have to go through the corner Cameron is in with the car in two.

"Lara, do you hear me?" My leg started to move on its own, praying Lara wouldn't see anything. "Yes." She said "Listen, when you go through turn ten keep going." Every second it took her to respond made my nerves and those of the others on the wall increase, because we all know more than anyone how Lara will react. "I'm not going to stay there; I have to go to the box. Is the driver ok?"

I started looking for a way we could ask someone to at least cover Cameron's car so Lara wouldn't see it, because I'm pretty sure she'd stop the car in the middle of the track and go after him. I know Lara could also notice the seriousness in my voice, but what I'm sure of is I don't want my sister to see how her husband was doing, since the blow Cameron had was quite strong and I don't think he will come out of there intact. I covered the microphone and turned to Eric, who was looking in my direction listening to our conversation.

"Do we have a way for Lara not to see the car?" I asked under my breath in case Lara could hear us. "No." I took a deep breath and then went on to look at the screens again "She'll go crazy as soon as she sees Cam's car."

"The only thing we can do to keep her from noticing the car is distract her by talking to her." I turned slowly in the direction of Eric, who had the same look I must have on my face.

"I'm not so sure it works." I shook my head, because if there's one thing, I'm sure about, it's Lara will find out as soon as I pass by. "It doesn't hurt to try."

"Bianca... What happened?" I listened as Lara asked. "Lara, estouche decindo que me escoites, nada máis (Lara, I'm telling you to listen to me, that's all) Do you know Grandma has a cold? "

"No, it's not. Before I went to the track, sha has not. Ahora contasme que cona esta pasando? (Now you want to tell me what the fuck is going on?)" I heard her confused tone, because I know it was a lie, but at least I hope it gave her a couple of seconds to think about, since she's practically in the corner.

When she passed her, I could breathe because Lara had passed the place where Cameron is. At least she hadn't seen it, but a few meters in front of where the accident had occurred, I see how Lara's car stops in the middle of the track, which makes me look at Eric who had the same worried face as mine at this moment.

"Lara, is something wrong?" All the cameras had focused on Lara's car and I could hear the commentators wondering what was going on with Lara and her car.

"Neste mismo momento vasme decir quen é o do coche ou xuroche que baixo do coche a velo por min misma. (You'll tell me right now who's in the car or I swear I'll get out of the car and find out myself)" I knew better than anyone she's serious, but I hoped she wouldn't, because I don't think it's the best thing for my sister right now.

"Lara, you have to come to the box, don't stand there in the middle." Eric put the camera inside Lara's car, and I could see how my sister put her hands on her belt to take it off, which wasn't good.

"IT'S CAMERON." Everyone around me shifted their focus back to the screens in front of them, while me and Eric focused on the screen in front of us to make sure Lara didn't get out of the car.

I could hear her breathing quickening, and I didn't like that at all. I'm absolutely sure she's about to have an anxiety attack, so I started thinking about ways we could stop her from having one right now. I was about to try the method we used to use when I was little, when I noticed a hand on my shoulder, causing me to turn around to see who the fuck it is.

"Let me talk to Lara," Isabelle said, "It's not the best..." And it's true, I didn't think so. It would be too difficult for me to get her out of that state for anyone else to talk to her.

"Just let me talk to her, I swear I'll get her to come to the pits." I looked for Eric, who nodded, so I handed the helmets to Cameron's mother and took them from one of the engineers next to me.

"Lara, I'm Isabelle. I know what's going on in your head right now, but I'm just asking you not to get out of that car and come to the pits." She said in her calm voice, making me not understand how she's so calm right now.

The three of us were looking at the screen where we could see the inside of Lara's car, but she still didn't answer, let alone move.

"Lara, what do you hear?" I crossed my fingers to see if that worked, because I really needed Lara out of that car right now. "No.... Don't t..."

"Take a deep breath and then you answer me... I know you can do it..." Eric got up from his chair and motioned for Isabelle to sit down, which she eventually did and focused on the screen in front of her.

"Your... your voice..." Lara whispered, "Great. Now tell me what you see." I watched as Lara looked into the right rearview mirror and her eyes fixed on what was happening behind her car. "The... My god, how's Cameron?"

"I'll answer that the moment you come to the box. Now I need you to tell me what you feel." Lara took her hands off her belt, which allowed me to breathe a little easier. "The vibrating... vibrating from the car." Even though Lara's voice didn't shake so much, I don't want her to bring the car to the garage herself, I don't want her to have an anxiety attack coming to the box.

"Perfect. Now I need you to come to the box. Once you get here I'll tell you what you want to know about Cam, but now I need you to bring the car back to the garage. Do you think you'll be able to drive it?" We saw how she put her hands back on the steering wheel and started to put gears into it. I breathed a sigh of relief, and gave Isabelle a hug, because I'm completely sure she needed right now, but it doesn't take long for her to separate and head to the end of the pit lane where Lara would arrive.

"Listen Eric, if Lara stops in the middle of the track again, I want you to go where she is and bring the car yourself" We both stared at the screens, and when we saw Lara was going into the pit lane, I sighed.

"Go to your sister, I'll send some mechanics to put the car in the box now." Eric put a hand on my back, calming me down. "Thank you, Eric." The latter nodded and I went to where Lara's car should be.

I quickly followed Isabelle's path, and when I arrived, I could see Lara sitting in the nose of the car and with Isabelle squatting in front of her.

"Are you sure you don't know anything, Isa?" Isabelle began to slowly run her hand over my sister's arm, and Lara began to look her mother-in-law in the eye. "No, I don't know, but as soon as you change, we're going to find out what's going on with him."

Lara shook her head, which I'm more than sure she would. At this moment, her only goal is to find out how Cameron is doing. "First I want to hear from Cameron."

I slowly walked over to where they were and got on the other side of Lara, starting to do the same thing Isabelle was doing. "I know, but I think it's better..."

"Primeiro penso saber que é o que está pasando con Cam e despois xa falaremos do que farei. (First I'll find out what's going on with Cam and then we'll talk about what I'll do)"

Isabelle was going to say again bit it isn't necessary, so I ended up touching her knee, gaining her attention, and I shook my head. We weren't going to be able to convince Lara to change her mind my sister would do whatever she wants. The moment she got up, we stood on either side of her in case the anxiety returned. I just hope Cameron is okay, because if not, Lara will end up murdering someone.
