Run

Seven days, it had been seven days since Marissa last saw Blake. That day he ran out in anger. She really didn't get the reason why he was so mad. She just told him the fact. She didn't have anything to offer, so she gladly accepted the offer he gave him. Was that something to be mad about?

"Sis…" Micky called for her. "Sis." He called her once again when she continued looking blankly out of the window.

When the silence continued, Micky frowned. Marissa kept on looking outside the window like her mind was somewhere else. Holding her shoulders, he tried again, "Sis, are you okay?"

"Huh?" Marissa turned in confusion. "Are everything ready?" She turned and looked at the pack bag on the table. "Oh…" She stood up and headed to her mother. "Let's go mom."

Wanda looked at her daughter who looked troubled. "What's wrong? We didn't have enough to pay for the hospital bill?" Wanda's voice was shaky and weak. The doctor advised her to stay at least for three more days but she saw how concerned Marissa looked when the doctor said it.

Marissa smiled but the smile didn't reach the ears. The smile that was obviously forced. "No mom. Don't worry about that."

Micky, who heard that, felt so angry. He didn't know what happened between those two but Blake shouldn't have left them hanging like this. Where could they find the money to pay for the remaining four days. "Sis…" He called Marissa and intended to tell him to call Blake but as she knew what he was going to say, a sharp glare fell upon him.

"Come mom, carefully." Marissa slowly held Wanda's hand and brought her down from the bed.

Wanda tapped her hand lightly, feeling bad with all the things that happened to her daughter's life. "I'm sorry…" She clasped Marissa's hand with her together.

Marissa frowned right away, "Mom…Don't apologise!" She felt frustrated. She knew her mother would blame herself for everything even though it was not her fault.

For Wanda, it was her fault for staying in this abusive relationship, thinking Henry would change. She wasted and sacrificed her children's life for the sake of her love. Love that was clearly long gone.

The room was silent for a few moments before Marissa broke it. "Mick…bring mom to the bus station first. I will settle the payment."

Micky looked at her and didn't move. He then mouthed the word 'how'.

"I said, bring mom out first. I will settle the payment." She stressed every word. Passing the bag to Micky, she then slowly led her mother to him.

Micky looked hesitant but since Marissa insisted, he took Wanda's hand and wrapped it around his arm. "Let's go mom."

Seeing her mother and brother walking out the room. Marissa took a deep breath and slowly walked to the counter for payment. She stood there for a few seconds to gather her courage before she opened her mouth and asked, "May I get the full amount that I need to pay for the patient's name Wanda Lang." She gulped before continuing, "From VIP room number 3."

"Wanda Lang?" The staff at the counter raised her brow.

The reaction made Marissa nervous, she bit her lower lip and the hands that she put on top of the counter were clenched tightly. She tried her best to calm herself but honestly, she couldn't lie. Her face was pale while waited for the staff to answer.

"VIP 3 right, miss?" The staff confirmed with her without even checking on the system.

She nodded to the question. Her heart was thumping hard and she felt it hard to breathe.

"All the bill had been paid, miss." The staff, who was around thirty, told her.

"All?" Marissa asked in surprise. She was told that Blake only paid for the three days earlier. 'Did she come and settle them?'

"Yes, all." The staff firmly confirmed that the payment was already settled.

Marissa was quiet for a few moments before she opened her mouth once again, "Can I get a copy of the receipt."

"Sure." The staff passed the receipt to Marissa not long after.

The receipt on her hands showed the full amount of the bill. She read hard and gulped in anxiety seeing all the numbers. If the payment was not settled, she might have to go and beg Blake no matter what. She didn't think she had any pride left and she could never ever hang on her pride in her situation anymore.

"Thank you…" She walked away from the counter with her eyes still on the receipt counting the numbers that couldn't register in her mind. "Ouch!" She held her head as she bumped into someone. Ready to apologise, she raised her head and said, "I'm sorry…" but her eyes widened seeing two big men in front of her staring straight at her.

"Miss Marissa…" The big voice that was coming from the man gave an instant goosebumps for Marissa.

"Yes…" She answered with her heart thumping crazily.

"We were asked to bring you to Madam Ruby." The man continued. His body size was fit to be a bodyguard. Perhaps they were.

"Madam Ruby?" She paused, thinking. "I'm sorry…I don't think I know anyone with the name Ruby." She was ready to turn when her arm was held.

"Please cooperate. We didn't want to use any force upon you." The man smiled but the other one's face remained stern and it made Marissa scared.

"I'm sorry…I really didn't know anyone by that name." Her hand started shaking. She tried to remove his hand from her arm. The only thought that she could think at that time was, these guys must be from the creditor and she needed to run.

"Don't worry miss, we never intend to hurt you. Just follow us." He said again, slightly pulled her to their side.

Marissa's eyes were roaming around, trying to search for help. She gulped many times that she felt like there was no more saliva for her to swallow. Seeing like there was no hope as everyone looked like the type who was minding themselves, she thought of giving up.

"Okay…but can I walk by myself?" Marissa looked at the man and then her eyes shifted to his hand that was holding her arm.

"Sure Miss…" He said, pursing a straight smile.

'RUN!'
