16 Shower together?

Devon instantly froze upon hearing his explanation. She couldn't move previously, but after hearing that, she could not help but step back.

"You're involved with such blasphemy?" She gasped, almost stuttering as she created a safe distance between them.

Who wouldn't? The real Devon was already strange to her. How could Lewis just support her all the way?

Perhaps he'd sacrifice her, too? Who knew? If Lewis was just making a good front, but actually part of a cult?

"I'm not, alright? You're the one who threatened me! Why are you turning the table on me?" Seeing her shocked reaction urged him to defend his poor soul.

"Huh?"

"You might not remember it, but you threatened me. So I complied with your wishes. Also, since I don't believe in such things, I don't see the problem. It's actually good so you can get used to my face as well."

Lewis clicked his tongue annoyingly as he explained. He couldn't believe that this would cause a small misunderstanding after several months.

'This woman… I mean, that woman before her accident. How dare she misunderstand when it's her own fault? Now, I look like a hopeless devotee.' Lewis gritted his teeth secretly, struggling to keep his cool with the thought.

"You can rest inside since we have nothing else to do." Yet he didn't want to dwell on it. Hence, he offered out of the goodness of his heart.

He glanced at her momentarily, nodding as he perceived it as a sign to give her some space. However, just as he turned around and took a step, he halted.

Slowly, he gazed down on his sleeve. Devon clipped her finger on his sleeve. Lewis raised his gaze, seeing her pursing her lips as she hesitatingly held his gaze.

"What?" He asked, arching his brow.

In retrospect, Devon spent most of her time in the room. He had never spent an entire day with her. Still, he knew that fact, since the housekeeper would inform him about her from time to time.

That's why, he thought, she might not remember. But perhaps her heart would find comfort in her room. Her gloomy room which was her sanctuary and safe haven. It might ease her.

But it seemed he was wrong.

"Where are you going?" She asked, biting her lower lip.

"In our room."

"To sleep?"

"If I want to sleep, I'll tell you. But, it's my first time having a vacation. I don't know what to do, so I planned to make a few calls." Lewis explained, tilting his head.

It was true, though. Since he had nothing else to do, Lewis thought of just making a few calls. Maybe, ask his assistant to send him important documents so he could kill some time.

For someone who knew nothing but work, the thought of not working bore him already. Not that they had plans to go out. He's just here to make sure she knew how to live here alone in a week.

Lewis furrowed his brows, seeing her hesitating. He tried to pull his arm away, but she clung on to it.

"Just say it." Annoyed, he mused.

"Can I — Can I accompany you?" Devon hesitated, but said it anyway. "I don't think I can stay inside that room… just yet."

Devon pursed her lips into a thin line as she looked away. It was embarrassing of her to make such a request, knowing it was just the two of them. However, being alone was the least she wanted right now.

"Oh…" Not expecting to hear such a strange request coming from those lips, Lewis rocked his head back and forth.

"Uh, alright, then. Sit over there. I don't think staying in our shared room together is right."

"You'll stay with me?" Upon hearing his indirect agreement, her eyes radiated with hope as she perked up.

Lewis held his breath momentarily as he drew back. With her beaming at him with a bright smile, he raised his hand.

He then placed the tip of his forefinger against her forehead. Slowly pushing her back down.

"I will. Just keep your distance, will you?" He said, snapping his tongue.

Yet, despite his reply, the corner of her lips stretched wider.

"Apologies, my friend."

His face scrunched up as he shook his head lightly. "Geez. Just watch whatever. I'll join you in a bit."

"Very well!" Devon smiled, holding her hands behind her as she hopped back. He shook his head once again, seeing her bright reaction.

The Devon who was like a black cat piling her nails even if someone died in front of her, just suddenly became a clingy cat. Gracious goodness. She became more dangerous now.

Lewis ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. Wondering what kind of blasphemy she had turned into.

"Where are you going, my friend?" As he trudged away, he halted upon her question.

His brow slowly raised, recalling the same scene in the past.

"Shower." He answered as he looked back. "Want to join me?"

As soon as he uttered those words, Devon's face immediately turned red. Her lips parted, but her words were stuck inside her throat.

Seeing her reaction caused the corner of his lips to curl into a smirk. Now, they're even. Finally, a revenge he had been waiting for.

"Hah! Just tell me when you want to shower together. I'll be happy to oblige." He added out of confidence, resuming in his strides as he grinned evilly.

Meanwhile, as Lewis headed towards their shared room, Devon covered her lips with her palm, flustered.

'Can a man really bath a woman in this kingdom? What… but I never bathed myself all alone. Was it truly normal and not obscene…?'

[Memory of the real Devon]

"Hello. Welcome. Where are you going?" Devon asked as he as soon as he arrived in the apartment.

"Shower." Without even casting her a glance, Lewis answered.

"Do you want to shower together?" Just as he took a step towards the shower, Devon asked.

Lewis flinched, feeling a frigid chill running down his spine. Momentarily, he couldn't believe his ear from hearing such a horrifying thing.

Slowly, Lewis turned his head to her and cast her a look full of disdain.

"I heard bathrooms are a good place to commit a crime. No, thank you."

"Tsk. I just want to know if blood is really hard to clean even in bathrooms." Devon clicked her tongue, annoyed.
