The next day, at exactly four in the morning, Zoey arrived at a hospital. As she headed inside, Zoey yawned.
"Atty. Mone, I just arrived at the hospital. Please proceed with everything we talked about." Sounding sleepy, Zoey walked towards a particular doctor's office while rubbing her eye.
"Yes, Miss Zhou. I'll be filing the complaint earlier today."
"Good. I'll see you later." Nodding in satisfaction, Zoey ended the call before she knocked on the medical director's door.
Even without the permission to enter, Zoey slowly peeked inside. "Knock knock," She muttered, catching the attention of the man inside.
The doctor, who appeared in his early 30s turned to the door. Seeing her peeking head, a faint sigh escaped from his lips before removing his reading glasses.
"Come in," he said.
Zoey bit her lower lip and stretched the side of her lips a little upward. Slowly, she intruded into the director's office, revealing her homey attire with that comfortable hoody and pajama.
"Morning," Closing the door behind her, Zoey raised her hand that was holding on the coffee holder — gesturing him that she bought him coffee.
"You know I don't drink coffee. Something happened again?" Slowly, the man stood from his office chair and strode to the sofa in the middle of the office.
"It's tea." Zoey trudged towards the long sofa and perched on it, across the man's position. "I had a trauma, I'm being admitted." Leaning her back against the soft back of the couch, Zoey languidly informed.
"You'll get my license evoked if you keep manipulating your medical records." Sounding a little displeased, the man joggled his head sideways.
"Just this one — I offended someone I shouldn't have." Zoey pursed her lips in a thin line. By the looks of it, Zoey was acting differently around the doctor — she's more modest and sincerely sorry for dragging him with her troubles every time.
"Why?"
"He got on my nerves — that's all." Despite the vague question, Zoey understood what he was pertaining to and gave him the most honest answer.
"Got on your nerves..." Sizing her nonchalant figure, the man murmured before a sigh slipped from his lips. "Did you hurt him?" After a beat, he asked.
"A little — I don't really know. He's too fragile and weak, yet he brags about working out too often." Zoey scoffed in disdain, recalling how Richard Sun slightly trembled when she threatened him.
The man opened his lips yet closed them again, halting what was about to be spoken. Staring at her for several seconds, he sighed again. "So you want to be admitted for some therapy?"
"Hmm," Nodding, Zoey answered without batting an eye. "I'm sure he'll do the same with exaggeration. I won't be surprised if he said I broke his wrist and he's dying because of it."
"Mhmm..." Nodding his head, the man stood from the couch and went back to his desk. Opening one of the drawer, he picked up a folder before he headed back to the couch.
As he does so, Zoey watched his figure get things done for her. She arched her right brow as he didn't ask a lot of questions, just like usual.
"Err... are you alright?" Zoey asked, intrigued what was keeping him extra silent than he usually was.
"Mhmm," Casting the inquiring Zoey a glance, the man nodded. "So, you're dating someone? Cora told me." The man seemed nonchalant as he inquired, as if he was just asking out of convenience to keep themselves occupied.
"Yeah," Upon hearing his inquiry, Zoey smiled — a smile the man rarely sees. "The more reason I have to get rid of that freak because he'll surely target my darling."
The man just glanced at her for three seconds, sizing up her reaction before shifting his gaze back to the folder. "I see..."
"I'm not that little girl anymore — your sister can handle love this time, Big brother Zion." Zoey reassured with a smile, staring at the man she called big brother and waited for him to look back at her.
"*sigh* It's been awhile since you spoke sincerely." Zion Kwan slightly shook his head sideways, accompanied by a faint sigh that only he could understand the meaning behind it.
Regardless, Zoey didn't dwell on it as she knew that her brother was a worrywart. "He's different and so am I." Well, Zoey was confident that whether or not her relationship with Matthew Xi would work, she's ready to face the outcome.
