As a woman whose years were spent chasing those money signs, Zoey had nearly forgotten that her exciting prime years were nearing its end. The reason she had gone in search of her companion for life. However, how could a 28-year-old desperate woman find her soulmate if the greatest hurdle was Zoey, herself? Was it because of her standards? Heck, no! She has no standard at all! Then why, you ask? Well, it was because of one simple reason: Zoey was particularly attracted to men who were not interested in her! And to make things worse? She loses interest once they had reciprocated the feelings! What would happen if the desperate and narcissist drama queen Zoey becomes the heroine of the mysterious and the weirdest man on earth? Will spring come forth? Or, just another disaster will ensue? *** EXCERPT: "Are you sure you're not crazy?" Zoey Zhou narrowed her eyes as she leaned closer to his imperious mien. "Hmm?" “I mean, how can you not like the pretty me? Say, should we kiss and see if it will ignite some spark?” The corner of her lips curled into a grin while her brows moved up and down suggestively. Slowly, the man raised his eyes to meet her playful countenance across the table. Blinking once, his eyes traveled from her eyes down to her lips. He stared for a moment at her red, provocative lips before he opened his mouth. “Kissing you,” he said, raising his finger to point at her lips, “means your lipstick will smear on mine. I'm afraid I must refuse.” “Lame.” Zoey Zhou scoffed as she drew away from the table. “I knew it. He’s gay, tsk.” Zoey Zhou murmured. Alas, right after she blurted out her last remarks, her wrist was grabbed by his huge hands and without missing a beat, the man pulled her back to his embrace. “I heard that. Do you want to confirm the validity of your claim?” His voice was deep and yet so alluring. He leaned his head closer to hers, his musky smell emanating sexiness as a glint flashed across his pair of playful eyes. ----- For spoilers, questions, novel discussion, join my discord server: https://discord.gg/tdSWbQK Catch me on discord: BAJJ#2931 Buy this pleb a Kofi — ko-fi.com/authorbajj *cover not mine. credits to the rightful owner

If it's more important than me

When Matthew Xi reached his car — where Paul Qian was waiting for him — he raised his hand and spoke. "I bumped into Enzo inside. Send him the details of KHAOS events tomorrow." With that said note, Matthew Xi entered the back passenger seat.

"Yes, young master." Bowing his head, Paul Qian closed the door for his boss and jogged to the front passenger seat.

As usual, Paul Qian asked nothing. Although Matthew Xi seemed uninterested in attending the said event, Paul Qian wasn't surprised that his boss would send Enzo Li as a representative.

Paul Qian knew Enzo Li's inclination towards cars. Be it luxury or vintage, Enzo Li loved them all. Therefore, although Enzo Li never associated anything about the company affairs, he was still a perfect person to be Matthew Xi's representative.

Unbeknownst to them all, Matthew Xi's reason was simpler than they thought. He wanted Enzo Li to keep his distance with Zoey for the meantime — at least, for the night.

Inside the car, Matthew Xi stared at his temporary pink phone. After Zoey's last call, she never bothered him. Of course, Matthew Xi finally had his peace and finished the day's work.

However, now that he had free time, why wasn't she nagging him? Right, Enzo Li was with her.

That fact had this inexplicable emotion surging inside Matthew Xi's heart. Somehow the feelings were displeased, disappointed, and another alien emotion combined into one.

Which led to his current dilemma. Should he call her? Leave a message, at least? Now that he got the gist of Zoey's current situation, Matthew Xi was tempted to pretend that he's concerned and clueless.

"What a headache..." Under his breath, Matthew Xi massaged his temples. Zoey... just the thought of the woman gave Matthew Xi a headache. Why, though?

"Young Master, do you need medicine?" From the front passenger seat, Paul Qian turned to face his boss and inquired. He heard Matthew Xi murmur and seemed he was having a headache.

"No," shaking his head sideways, Matthew Xi closed his eyes and tilted his head back. Paul Qian didn't insist further as he nodded his head and sat properly.

"Right," recalling something important, Matthew Xi continued massaging his temple with his eyes closed. "Contact Mr. Richard Sun and ask him to have dinner with me."

Baffled for a second, Paul Qian peeked at Matthew Xi through the rear mirror. "Y — yes," despite the question that floated in his mind, Paul Qian abided and refrained from asking irrelevant questions.

Without further ado, Paul Qian immediately sent Richard Sun a dinner invitation. Of course, Richard Sun had the decision to decline. But, a dinner with Matthew Xi would be Richard Sun's another lucky chance to prove that he's capable.

However, just as Paul Qian considered Richard Sun as lucky, Matthew Xi's next words rendered him speechless. "I thought my warning earlier wasn't enough."

Meanwhile, when Enzo Li came back to Zoey's room, he saw her reading a document while other papers scattered around the bed.

"Hey," closing the door behind him, Enzo Li greeted. Yet, Zoey didn't stop from reading the clauses about the upcoming court battle.

"Right, she won't hear me now." Seeing that Zoey's focused was on the paper in her hand, Enzo Li murmured and dragged his feet to the chair beside the table.

Knowing Zoey, no one could distract her if she's working or doing something she thought important. Even if he talked to her, she wouldn't respond.

Just then, Enzo Li received an email from Paul Qian regarding the show's details. 'I really want to go...' Enzo Li sighed and glanced at Zoey's side profile.

Since Enzo Li's schedule was vacant for the entire month, he would go in the event even if it's a week long. However, considering Zoey's situation, he would feel guilty if he left her alone.

Not to mention, Zoey would surely use that to tug his conscience in the future. Enzo Li could imagine the terror of Zoey's shameless acting. What a cunning witch Zoey was.

"Are you going somewhere?" Slowly, Zoey retracted her eyes from the document and shifted her gaze to Enzo Li. "You can leave if it's important..." Upon laying her eyes on Enzo Li's dejected countenance, Zoey could tell he was upset about something.

"Really —"

"... If its more important than me." In a matter-of-fact tone, Zoey added. The hopeful glint that beamed across Enzo Li's eyes dimmed immediately.
