[Rio's Point of view]

The electrocute keystone doesn't work and quite useless since I can't hit the target with three consecutive hits within the time limit.

Brutal and Backbone work just fine, Since my physical output is much stronger than my magical output, I gained a physical bonus. It's not like I have magical attributes at the moment. Pack Hunter also held me and my comrades to win every battle.

"Ha! Is that all? I didn't even sweat~!" Rever Mantu said playfully as his battle ended. The Black Maned Wolf he fought has a lot of cuts and bruises. He won the duel, but him bragging that he did not sweat is outrageous. He might think that I can't pay attention to him while I was busy on my own fight.

"Tsk! What a braggart. Shut your filthy mouth and stay away from me. Your sweat reeks like shit." Rebecca Frostlight rebutted. She finished her duel faster than Rever does and unwilling went to Bluch to protect him. Her opponent also went back on its pack with bruises and a blind right eye.

Rebbeca then observed both my fight and Rever's while she is on-guard if ever other beasts sneak and ambush her. Well, that does not matter since this area is already marked when the duel began.

"Don't be too mean~ I'm just cheering myself, you know?" Rever Mantu

"Cheer your face. You have the guts to tease me when you yourself took too much time just to deal with a mob? Haha! So lame, you should be on the sidelines while cheering on me instead." Rebecca Frostlight

"Having a lover's quarrel on the mids of the duel?" I asked as I sat down on the file with my eyes locked on the elite who just recovered control over his body. The debuffs were also gone, but the beast looks exhausted for some reason.

"Ha! That's gross, Rio. I might stink but why would I have a taste when it comes to girls." Rever Mantu

"I have millions of admirers and hundreds of suiters. Even the worst-looking one is a hundred times better than this RedBird. So please stop teasing with that freak!" Rebbeca Frostlight

"Is that so? Then take this test seriously until we find a safe zone." I replied immediately after noticing their discomfort. Well, it seems like they don't have anything between them. Let's ignore them for now.

The beast in front of me closed its eyes as if he was sighing he then laid his tummy on the ground and stared at me as if he was telling me to end his life already. How prideful, he would rather die than losing like that?

Are wolf meat delicious? I want to know, but simply killing this beast might not allow me to eat its meat. Wolves are cannibals, a weak or sick member of the pack might become their meal.

(Third Person POV)

Rio stares at the beast in front of him. It's acting so high and mighty before their battle begun is begging for him to end his life. The cold light blue eyes that stare at him as if he was is now as dull as matt.

'Why would it do that? I mean, being prideful has its limit!' Rio Magus

Rio's thoughts were complicated as he helplessly took out a rope then approached the beast slowly.

The beast felt his movements and get itself ready. However, the next moment, instead of being killed by the opponent he who was an elite, the person tied a rope around his neck.

The beast opened its eyes, confused about what his opponent is trying to do. Is it trying to hang him then watch as he struggles to death?

Rio saw the beast's eyes then smiled. He put his hands on top of the beast's head to caress its soft fur. There's no fear of being backstabbed as he already knows that the beast in front of him means no harm.

Why? Cause the mark on his map showed a green dot instead of a yellow.

"Don't be afraid. I won't kill if it is not necessary." Rio Magus

Rio doesn't know, that the Scarred Black Maned Wolf Elite in front of him was once the savage and cold-blooded alpha of the pack. Every old member of the pack knew it and when the old leader lost and offered their life, they become uneasy.

Even the current leader of the pack — the son of the old leader opened its eyes to watch what will happen.

They watched as the old leader being tied with a rope, conflicted on what they are supposed to do. However, knowing that their old leader won't be killed has a great impact on how they see Rio's group.

"What are you doing, Rio? Getting a pet in the middle of a test?" Rever Mantu

"That's dangerous in one way or another. What if it hurt us in the midst of nowhere. I mean, yeah, they are the proud wolves, Black Maned Wolf. But, they are still the savage wolves who prey on meat." Rebbeca Frostlight

Although Rio has the same thought before, he still clings to the fact that the system recognized it to be a friendly individual.

He also saw something that piqued his interest. After putting a collar around the beast, the system was able to identify the beast, showing every status the beast has.

———

[Black Maned Wolf Elite](Retired Alpha)(Origin Wolf)(Loved by Darkness)

[Grade 1: Class 10(7)}

Status: Badly Injured, Old, Conflicted

Age: 20 Years

Description: The First Generation Alpha of the pack who seeks the way to advance in grade. The one who desired to reach the top.

———

'Identifying... When did I receive such skill? I can identify the content of my dimensional pouch. The Oracle Lense and Vision Trinket only show the individual's name and their relationship with me. Does the system recognized that this monster is already tamed and I was allowed to peek on some of its information?' Rio Magus

Rio started theorizing as he ensures that the collar won't untie, slip, or hinder his new pet's movements. The words written on his pet's information showed that he actually has an unexpected position in the pack — A retired Alpha.

That is one of the reasons why he made a gamble to make him into a pet instead of killing it for meat. Also, If his guess is true, then he might have pick-up something amazing.

"Seniors, take this rope with you." Rio Magus

Rio threw the rope towards Rever and Rebecca as he patted his new pet's back, signaling it to follow after him.

The Retired Boss of the pack closed its eyes as if he was sighing. It looks quite intelligent as it shook its head before stand on its four limbs then followed behind Rio.

Rebecca and Rever did not lower their guard as they watch the Retired Alpha followed behind Rio — who was walking in their direction.

Bluch who was hiding behind them were quite nervous, although he did not fight, he read the book of monsters and learned a bit about beasts. He knew that these Black Maned Wolves won't gang-up on them as they look weak.

"Don't worry about it, Seniors. As you can see, I managed to tame it. You guys have the ability to see your status, right?" Rio Magus

"Y-yeah. Indeed, I've got the status window. Why do you ask?" Rever Mantu

"Fight another one, if they lost and surrender their life to you this chap did earlier, then take the rope and put them a collar. Once you put the collar on them, there will be an Information Window that'll show on top of your target's head. It means you've got the ownership over it." Rio Magus

Rever, Rebecca, and even Bluch's eyes lit up as they heard what he just said. Who doesn't want a pet? Especially a huge furry wolf at that? Everyone has dreamed once in their life of having tigers as a housecat or having wolves as a housedog.

However, doubt managed to shock them after a moment of excitement. Is it really okay? Is it safe to just take some of the pack's members that easily? What if the Alpha won't allow such a thing and pounced to the battlefield then kill all of them?

Rio saw the mark of doubt on their face easily and can't help but smirk. They are learning quickly, which is impressive if you think that they're only able to acquire knowledge about the outside world (literally) for just a day.

They also did not get the same treatment as he has since his childhood.

Rio sat on the ground as he signed his new pet to lay down with him. The beast has no way of refusing, as one of the proud wolves, it can only follow what its owner asked for and sat down beside Rio.

The beast's matt black fur and its shiny black mane attracted the eyes of Rio's comrades and become the source of jealousy. Endangered of their desire to have one as a pet is overtaking their doubts.

"As the retired Alpha, you deserve a name yourself. From now on you will be Matt Volk, follow me and we will reach the height that only you can dream of." Rio Magus

As if the beast could understand what Rio just said, its eyes contracted and its senses sharpened. Rio's words were weak and plain, but the meaning behind them made it excited and enthusiastic.

It accepted his new name — Matt Volk — with glee as the eyes of the beast shone like a diamond. The light, as id has life, made its way towards Rio's eyes.

Rio can't even react as the light penetrated his eyes. He tried to cover it with his hands but it was too late.

[Alert! You named and received the loyalty of the Alpha Class Beast (Black Maned Wolf Matt Volk)! 80% of the beast ability gained!]

[Active Skill: Storm Dash gained!]

[Active Skill: Slash gained!]

[Passive Skill: Shadow Hide gained!]

[Passive Skill: Terror Stare gained!]

[Racial Skill: Haste gained!]

[Racial Skill: Swift and Silent gained!]

Rio's movement stopped as he heard the voice ringing inside his head. He was shocked that a simple word he spoke to lift the mood of his new pet Matt Volk will give him unexpected gain.

Rio went blank for a few seconds processing just what happened to him. His hands were locked on Matt Volk's fur until he heard the panicked voice of his seniors.

"Rio! What happened! He! Wake up!" Rever Mantu

"R-Rio! What is that? Rever, let's kill that beast before it's too late!" Rebecca Frostlight

Rio heard them as they planned to slay Matt Volk. He moved his hands and stare at Rever's eyes calmly, his dark black eyes turned crystal-blue as his pitch-black Iris contracted. The air around him suddenly tensed up as Rever tripped on his own as he stepped back from Rio.

"Ahh! W-what!" Rever Mantu

"Senior, ain't it amazing? Matt just offered me his loyalty and received 80 percent of his strength and all his skills. That thing you saw just now was the passive skill, Terror Stare." Rio Magus

"F-for real! That sick! I-I also want one..." Rebecca Frostlight

Rebecca who is as if did not see Rever fall said as she stared at Rio's eyes with envy.

"You can have one too. Just do what I said earlier and tame them. It's up to you if you can make your own pet offer their loyalty to you" Rio Magus

Rio's words made their inner child run wild as they thought of having an ocular skill. Ocular skills were quite famous as every animes that is super popular has one or two ocular skills that every child dream of having.

Rever and Rebecca approached the area where they fought their opponent earlier then look at the pack, provoking them to send someone and fight them.

The beasts were not offended, but they still send someone much experienced and much stronger than their previous opponent.

I've decided to upload a chapter every day with shorter content instead of one every two days XD
