Sabastian Townsend

The Sherriff, his deputy, and some of his officers have been looking for the wild dog in the woods for the past few weeks but they have not seen anything unusual, they have run into deer, antelopes, and other animals but nothing that could be dangerous enough to kill or maim people.

They were in the woods tonight again, the Sherriff was hellbent on finding whoever or whatever was responsible for all these. They could taste the cold night in their mouth, it was quiet apart from the insects chirping and the sounds their feet made with the dry leaves when they stepped on it. They all had big torchlights which they shone all over the woods looking for what they don't know exactly.

"What are we looking for sir?" The deputy asked the Sherriff with a low tone so the junior officers won't hear him and be discouraged but they were already weak and felt like they were just wasting their time. The Sherriff looked at his deputy, he had no answer for that question because he had no idea what they were hoping to find out here.

"We lost almost ten lives in these woods and they all had claw marks on their bodies. We're looking for anything that has those claw marks here in the woods."

"I know about that, but we don't even have any trail that we're following. It's like the animal is smart enough to cover its track." The deputy looked at the Sherriff, he stopped and exhaled.

"Look son, whatever this is, it's terrorizing this town and we must protect everyone in this town so do you get that soldier?" The Sherriff thundered as the deputy exhaled and nods.

"Yes sir!" The deputy responds as they both continue working, the other officers were ahead of them.

"Don't worry, we will get going soon. Tomorrow we try again." The Sherriff stated and the deputy nods as they continue walking.

"Something is here!" One of the Officers ahead yelled

"About time!" The Sherriff said under his breath as he unholsters his gun, his deputy does the same and they ran in the direction of the voice.

The Sherriff and his deputy were getting close to where the other officers were before they heard a scream and gunshot, they arrived to find two officers down. The deputy shone his torchlight on them and they had scratches from a claw on their legs, they were groaning in pain.

"What happened?" The Sherriff asked as he shines his torchlight around to see if he could see anything.

"We were attacked" One of the officers on the ground replied.

"By what?" The Sherriff inquired as he poised his gun and checks their surroundings carefully.

"I don't know what it was. It was too fast."

"I think it was a bear." The other wounded officer said as he winced in agony.

"They are no bear in Spring Haven." The deputy replied.

"And bears are not so fast." The Sherriff added as he still looked around looking for what it might be, his officers and deputy were doing the same. They even checked the trees but no trace of whatever it was that attacked them.

"Deputy get some bandage and stop the bleeding." The Sherriff commanded and the deputy holsters his gun as he collects a first aid box from one of the officers who was carrying it, they came prepared.

The Sherriff was not letting his guard down, he was excited that they were able to locate this animal but he was scared a little bit because he had no idea what it was. He wondered what could be so fast that the officers did not get a good look at it, his heart pounds faster but he calms himself down. He was a soldier and somehow he believes that there was nothing in this small town that could be as scary as the wars he has fought for his nation. The Sherriff was looking at his deputy as he was trying to stop the bleeding from the wounded officers and he managed to stop one but as he was about to do the same for the second officer, the Sherriff had his officer behind him yelling. The Sherriff turned swiftly and his officers did the same but the officer who yelled was already on the ground and had a claw mark on his leg but not as deep as the other ones. The Sherriff was not fast enough although he saw a silhouette of what attacked him, it was on just two legs but very fast, faster than a normal human. It could be a bear, the Sherrif thought but then again what he saw was too skinny to be a bear and it scares him that what he saw looked more human than a bear. He doubts that a human could have claws and be this fast but he then thought about the man in the hood that attacked the hospital a few weeks ago and his officers said he had claws and was pretty fast. The Sherrif was now thinking if it was the same person that was behind all the killings, the Sherriff could not tell what they just saw but he was not scared to kill it.

The Sherrif dragged the officer that was down already to where the other two were, he was dragging him with his left hand while he points his gun with his right hand and he never took his eyes off the direction that the silhouette he saw went. The Sherriff could feel his officers trembling, he commanded them to circle the wounded officers but back each other so they would all have eyes everywhere and they would be able to see it when it comes back from any angle. They stayed like that while the deputy was tending to the wounded, they were all looking carefully with their eyes wide open and their guns pointing to the direction that their flashlight was but they did not see any movement again.

"I think it took off." One of the officers said that they were like that for a very long time.

"Is that the Sherrif?" Tracy asked from the dining where she was making arrangements for breakfasts, she was hearing the Sherrif's voice from the TV.

"Yeah, he's with the press. Looks like he was in the woods yesterday night with some of his officers and they were attacked in the woods yesterday night." Mr. Beckham replied to his wife with his eyes still fixed on the TV screen. Tracy was shocked, if the Sherrif was attacked then it must be the werewolf and that means that he might be aware of werewolves now.

"Did he say what attacked him?" Tracy asked as she left what she was doing to come to the living room and watch the TV.

"He's saying that wild dogs are in the wild and the woods are still off limits but I could easily tell he's lying from here." Mr. Beckham said with a chuckle

"Are you saying that he knew it was a werewolf?" Tracy asked, she is in the living room now and she stood as she watched the TV with her husband.

"No, I don't think he was sure of what attacked them. His face does not look like someone that just found out that werewolves exist in his town." Mr. Beckham stated.

Tracy thinks that her husband might be right because the look on the Sherrif's face is that of someone determined to hunt down an animal. If he just saw a werewolf last night then he would be too terrified to think of going back there again.

"I am going back there with my officers and we won't rest until the woods are free of these wild dogs." The Sherrif said from the TV with mics pointing to his mouth, he turned around and left as the newscasters tried to ask him more questions but he was not taking any more questions.

"This werewolf is getting more reckless, I need to put him down."

"Then let's put him down," Chandler said as he walked down the stairs, Mr. Beckham paused to look at him as he joined them in the living room.

"Yes let's put him down. Sabastian Townsend has a cabin in the woods, Northeast so let's go and check if he's our werewolf." Chandler stated.

"Son I admire your courage but we have to be careful about this because the Sherriff is still going to the woods with his officers and he cannot see us in the woods there." Mr. Beckham explained he knew that the Sherriff already hates them and will be ready to charge them for obstruction and he won't even blink.

"What do we do then?" Chandler asked, he looked at his parents waiting to know if they had any plan yet.

"The cabin is in the Northeast right?" Tracy asked, Chandler and his father looked at her and nods.

"Then you just have to make sure that the Sherrif or his officers don't come anywhere near Northeast." She stated that Chandler was still confused about how they can do that and he looked at his father who was looking confused too.

"How do we do that?" Chandler asked and his mother was smiling, she got a plan.

Chandler and his father drove to the woods immediately after they had their breakfast, his mother got a burner cell that she used to call the Sherriff to tell him that she wandered into the west side of the woods and was just chased by what looked like a wild dog. The Sherriff had no idea who called him but Tracy knew that he would not resist taking his officers to check the west side of the woods.

"We have to move carefully, we're not sure that the Sherriff bought the trick," Mr. Beckham said as they walked around the woods looking for the Cabin.

Chandler knew that the Sherrif cannot resist going to the west side to capture whatever he thinks is responsible for all these death because he has made a lot of promises to the people in this town and the man seems determined to keep the promise. Chandler understood what his father meant because there was no way to tell that the Sherriff was tricked so they have to be careful and quick.

"I think that is it," Mr. Beckham said as he points to a cabin farther away from where they were but the Zinc was reflecting the sun making it hard to miss.

Chandler smiles and nods as he tries to move forward but his father held him back with his right hand, Chandler looks at his father's face and he got that face he always has when he wants to give him a warning but this time around it was an important warning.

"Be careful son, this guy is very dangerous so if this is him then we engage with precaution together."

Chandler nods because he understands what his father meant, he almost forgot that this was the same werewolf that have killed up to ten people already within the past few weeks. They moved together stealthily until they were in front of the cabin, it did not look like someone was living there but Mr. Beckham could hear someone inside.

His ears were perked up so he could hear a heartbeat inside the house before they even get too close and he looked at Chandler, it seems like he could hear the heartbeat inside too. They heard footsteps as Sabastian walked out stroking his goatee. Chandler and his father stepped back a little, Chandler's claws were already coming out but his father held his hand to calm him down first because they are not sure it was him yet.

"Took you guys long enough," Sabastian said with a smirk as he moved farther away from his door, he moved closer to Mr. Beckham and Chandler.

"So you're..." Mr. Beckham did not finish his question before Sabastian interrupted.

"The deadly werewolf? The villain of this beautiful quiet town? Yeah, that's me."

"Why are you doing all this? Why kill innocent people?" Mr. Beckham asked as he looked at him with disgust and anger

"Innocent people?" Sabastian scoffs "Do they care if we're innocent too or they just see us as monsters?" Sabastian added.

"And you want to prove them right? You're making them scared." Chandler stated.

"What do you know kid? They should be terrified! if they were then maybe my family would still be alive." Sabastian responded.

"What do you mean? I heard your family was killed in a fire" Chandler asked as he looked at Sabastian who just chuckled.

"Fire outbreak and I was the only one that magically survived it? I watched the Marshall hunters slaughter my family and set them ablaze." He paused and looked at Mr. Beckham. "You know how vicious they can be, they were kids there too but they did not care as far as you were a werewolf they don't see you as human but a monster to be slaughtered."

Chandler does not support the fact that Sabastian was killing people but he could not deny that he was feeling pity for him, he could not imagine how that must feel and how much it changed him.

"Why did they let you live?" Mr. Beckham asked

"Well, I wasn't a werewolf then. My parents thought that I was normal but I noticed a few years after their death that I discovered that I might be a werewolf so I finally broke my seal and now they will suffer."

"I'm sorry about what happened but the Entities need you to be stopped and brought to them because you would destroy our reputation and image." Mr. Beckham said and Sabastian burst into laughter.

"Did you just say reputation and image? They will always see us as monsters, what I'm doing here is for our good."

"I don't think so," Chandler said.

"Now, you can come quietly or we can do this the hard way.'' Mr. Beckham added as he howled loudly showing his fangs with his claws which were out too and his eyes were glowing.

Sabastian was ready to take two of them by himself as he howled too with his fangs and claws out, Mr. Beckham stopped as he turned around because he thought he was picking some sound behind. He was right, he was hearing radio chatter and he knew it was the Sheriff and his officers. He looked at Chandler who know what was going on too, they had to run before the Sherriff would get there so he took off with Chandler while Sabastian just stood where was standing but his fangs and claws were not out anymore.

The Sherriff walked to the Cabin a few seconds later to find Sabastian standing there looking at them.

"Sabastian right?" The Sherriff asked and Sabastian nods "What are you doing here? The woods are closed till further notice." He added.

"Well this is where I live, I don't have anywhere else to move to," Sabastian responded.

The Sherriff stood there just staring at him with no idea of what to tell him now, he can't tell him to leave his home.

"Just be careful out here son." The Sherrif said

"I will."

The Sherriff clears his throat as he signals to his officers to follow him so they can continue with their strolling but he paused and walked back to Sabastian

"I think I heard howling around...''

"Yeah, I heard that too." Sabastian could not let the Sherriff finish.

"Did you hear the direction it was coming from?" The Sherriff asked and Sabastian pointed to the direction that Mr. Beckham and Chandler just followed.

"That way"

"Okay, thanks." The Sherrif thanks Sabastian and then turns to his officers.

"Let's go, guys!"

They all walk away as Sabastian smiled, looked around, and went back inside as he kept on looking around to make sure that no one was around anymore.
