Wife for Hire

Wisdom Weisz was probably the unluckiest woman in the world. She lost her house and ten-month-old daughter in a fire in a single day. And what’s worse is that on the same day, her husband was making love to her best friend in the latter’s apartment without paying any sort of remorse for her. Weeks after, she was also fired from her job for the viral video that was taken on the time she shamed her ex-husband and ex-best friend in front of many people. Frustrated, she was left jobless and spent her remaining money in a luxury hotel’s bar. With destiny as unpredictable as ever, she met the billionaire in the bar who she already came across at various moments of her life. The man offered her a job and it was called, “Wife for Hire”, meaning she will be his wife without any emotional attachments. Wisdom was skeptical at first when the billionaire showed him the sum of money she will receive weekly. If she accepts, the billionaire will pay her upfront with a hundred dollars in her bank in just a blink of an eye. Wisdom eventually accepts as she deemed this as an opportunity for revenge to her former husband and best friend as the billionaire happened to be her ex-husband’s boss and her ex-best friend's employer. Wisdom Weisz was on cloud nine at first until she realized that her heart was about to fall for him. As a whirlpool of emotions stirred and a web of conflicts weaved, Wisdom will soon find out that this job was not easy as she thought as her heart begins to fall for the man who had employed her to be his hired wife.

Chapter 32

Denver’s POV

“You dare bring us here to the beach despite just receiving a threatening call?!” My fiancée yelled.

“That’s why I brought you here. So that we can take a breath,” I reminded her, making her cross her arms.

“And what if they’re serial killers? And considering we’re on the beach, our bodies could just be thrown in the water!”

I gave her a nervous, anxious laugh. “You really think that, huh?”

“And why should I not?” Wisdom frowned.

I looked past her, then to the sea in front of us, drenching our feet with saltwater.

“Can you hear that?” I asked while slowly wrapping my arms on her shoulder.

“Hear what? I only hear you talking,” she said with a chortle.

I stroked her delicate skin and she leaned at my chest. “The song of the sea, the crashing waves that I only hear often. That I just heard today.”

“And what of that?”

“It’s calming and soothing. Especially when you listen to it with the person who made your heart beat faster.”
