Her Name

The rune glowed in bluish light, gradually emitting cold air as it stuck still in space. Her index and pointing fingers were still joined together as their tips also glowed the same color as the drawn rune, she then swiped her fingers in the air as the rune broke akin to shattering glass

"This power is inside you now after the unsealing, it will grow and change as you progress your mastery of your abilities" she said as she placed her hand on the table

"What do you mean by mastery?" I asked not understanding what she meant

"Fool, did you not look through your status earlier, its the level counter accompanying your ability"

"Oh! so that's what it meant.., so it means the more it levels up, the more powerful I would be right" I said realizing this simple feature just like in games

"Basically yes, but the growth of your ability doesn't necessarily equates to your immediate power up, the abilities of champions change depending on the actions, behaviors and even encounters by its users, its entirely up to you how your ability will grow"

"In addition, the levels of abilities have 3 major levels and it will only level up once the user has unlocked its next stage either through training or any sort of enlightenment" she added as she stirred her tea

The implications of what she had said meant that a champion can make an ability become something entirely different as it adapts to the situation the user is in, and one could expand and unlock the limits of their abilities if the path they chose is the right one but it could also lead to limiting their growth if the path chosen can't unlock its full potential

'Its like making your own skill tree but without any guide or format for the matter, that's going to be a pain ...'

"You said I can do what you just did earlier right, the only difference is that I will use internal arcane"

I nodded at her words, since I have internal circuits, the intensity and capacity of what I have will affect how effective this rune thing will be.

"...So because I have internal circuits I cant do any of those..?" my tension rising because of this minor setback, I rubbed my forehead in frustration

Now listen carefully because this is important, remember that runes can only perform spells if they are combined with other runes. Well the one I gave you doesn't need other runes to activate because I built it to respond to your words"

"My words?" I asked puzzled

"Yes, your world's words to be exact"

'So its that simple huh' I thought. I expected it would have a more complicated activation process but well, it more convinient like this.

"Ill teach you how to use it now, First, write the rune on a surface using your fingers just like I did earlier because you can only write it on a surface for now"

'You should have done so in the first place, this is your second time demonstrating.. so that's my current limit, writing on surfaces?'

She placed the tips of her fingers on the surface of the table, her fingertips glowed blue as lines of blue light was left as she traced the previous symbol but without the circle this time

The rune didn't glow as much from before, the blue line having faded color

"You must be wondering why you can read it, of course you can read it because it is a part of you and the first thing that you should be asking is why we and the Folerians can converse with you casually" she said as she continued to write

"Oh yeah~ it slipped my mind up until now, ...hmm let me guess, you Gods granted us auto translation right" I've had a gist of how this works due to all that anime I've watched

"Correct, but runes are a different thing, one must have authority of sister Lau to read runes, Well in your case.. my authority"

"You must also know that when you speak the rune Inverno-, the next word spoken will not be translated by the blessing, but will be in your World's language"

"Remember that I built this rune combining your worlds language alongside it, simply put it wont activate if your words are translated, that is why I made a function that when you are preparing to say the rune in an action to activate it , it stops the blessing momentarily and returns the blessing after the spell" she said as she finished writing the rune, her two fingertips still in a gun like gesture

"Hmm that's a lot of stuff going on just to speak " I laugh awkwardly

"Fool... think about the implications of what I said"

'Huh? , what does she mean?....If it stops the translation during the chant then what does tha-....!?!'

"I got it... the enemy wouldn't know the nature of the spell I'm casting because they wont understand a thing I'm saying but that also include my allies...well except for my classmates that is" I exclaimed

"But how?"

"Just go inside my temple or any temple and I will momentarily stop the blessing"

[Inverno-Heat] she chanted as she swiped her fingers down but the rune did not respond or did anything at all

"I see what you mean now" I stared at the rune

" But if you say it like this, [Inverno-Freeze]" she again swiped her fingers down

The rune glowed blue as the table was covered in sheets of ice instantly, forming spikes in its edges

"Ohhhh this is freaking cool!" I excitedly said due to the prospect of using spells like she did

"In addition to using the rune, you are now immune to the cold and that is because your have adapted to it already"

"Whoah...I also forgot about that, so that's why even though it seems cold in my mind it doesn't really feel like that at all. That's really convinient, I thought that I would need to wear fur coats or something at this rate, Thanks for that" I touched the ice, not feeling the freezing cold at all

"Fool... there is a reason why mages carefully prepare their spells, what would be the point if the caster is dead for no good reason"

'It seems that's my name now..'

"That is everything I needed to tell you about your ability, How it grows and what powers you unlock as you progress to the three levels of Mastery, it will depend on the actions you take and ultimately also you're luck"

The Goddess then stood up as the tables and chairs dispersed into particles of ice as she turned her back. I fell on my butt

'Hey! at least give a heads up'

"We are done here... your consciousness will return briefly to Foleria" she said with her back still turned

My body then started to turn to particles of ice just like the tables and chairs

"Wai-"

The Goddess then turned towards me, with a gaze that seems to seep into my soul

"Fool.." she paused, looking down then suddenly stared at my eyes right after

"Colt Pelter...., do not close your eyes and see the world with eyes clear as ice, do not block your ears and hear their cries among the storming hails, do not reject the warmth that others give as you also embrace their suffering and pain."

She came closer to me then placed her cold hands to my cheeks

"Be as cold like frostbite to your enemies and as warm like fire to those you must protect. You are now and will henceforth be Irelia's champion, a bringer of freezing hell to the spawns of the void" her voice clearly resounding in my ears

She then kissed my forehead with her lips as soft as snowflakes

"My...Leda's champion, wish you good fortune"

Her gaze and her smile was breathtaking and so serene as winter snow

'So that's her name'

Those were my last thoughts as my body turned to particles of ice and soon lost consciousness.
