Why Did the God of Love Choose Me?!

My name is Kichirou Saiyaku, and I’m your average shut-in NEET. Gaming and anime are my life, everything else can go die in a fire! One day, I woke up and found myself in a world of magic, monsters, and even other races like Elves and BeastKin. Like, is this a dream come true! But the reality is I’m weak. Like what the hell! I came to this world level 1 with stats lower than that of a baby! On top of that, I was summoned here by one of the seven Gods to be her chosen hero, and she’s telling me it was a mistake?! What kind of Goddess misspells her hero’s name?! Seriously, why did the God of Love choose me?!

Chapter 1

It seems obvious adventurer was the best choice, but not everyone wanted to risk their life for money. So, most people did work with the royal family, to secure pay and safety.

As he spoke, he told me about the leveling system and how adventurers get parties and different work in order to level. He told me, that just like everyone, we are born level 1. And as you do simple tasks such as eating, working-out, playing and running around, you gain experience. Once you reach level 10, your stats have already been automatically distributed, that's when your class is assigned.

Also, once reaching level 10 you stop gaining experience from doing day-to-day activities. After that, the only way to get experience points is by doing jobs, quests, even doing favors for people can gain you experience. Though the amount of experience rewarded is based on the difficulty of the task, which is why parties are formed.

He told me that adventurers were always accepted into parties based off the stats they have. The higher your stats, the stronger an adventurer you are.

It's just like an MMORPG.

I had figured out how to check my status window as the old man spoke. All I simply had to do was want to see them and a window would pop up in my HUD. When I looked at my status window my eyes widened.

Wait! My level is 1! And my stats are all 20! What the hell! In most video games your stats start off higher than that!

In fact, my stats were below average. In this world even a baby had stats higher than mine.

"Why the look of shock?" The old man asked, noticing my facial reaction.

"...No reason."

Best to stay quiet about it.

I didn't want to admit my low level or stats. Being seventeen and level one with below average stats would be suspicious. And suspiciousness is always rewarded with questions.

The old man kept speaking to me, and any questions I was asked were answered. Before I realized it, we were in the city. It looked just like you'd imagine a fantasy world.

Most of the buildings were small, though these were mostly the shops and some houses. The bigger buildings were those of Inns, were you could sleep and stay as long as you liked, as long as you had the money to pay for the room. The streets were crowded, yet they all managed to part and walk around the carriage in a peaceful manner.

The buildings themselves were all rather close together with some more spaced apart than others. Those spaces were allies that gave short-cuts to the other side.

"Alright, Kichirou," The carriage stopped in the middle of the plaza by the fountain. "This is where you get off. I would love to show you around, but unfortunately, I have important business with the King. But before I go, I wish to give you this." The old man tossed me a rather large bag that jingled as it flew through the air. I caught it, though I nearly dropped it. "Inside is 1,000 gold coins. This should get you some decent equipment, as well as some left-over money to stay a while at a nice Inn."

"Uh...Thanks." I said.

I know. I don't sound grateful, but that was mostly because I didn't understand why a man I just met would give me that much money. Perhaps accepting the large sum would come back to bite me, although that would be something to worry about later on.

With a smile and wave the old man and his carriage made their way out of my sight.

Well…I guess it'd be fun to look around and experience the lively of this place.

With that thought I began walking.

It felt as though hours passed as I explored the city. The Plaza I was in had shops everywhere, all selling different things. And with the large crowd of people surrounding me, I began to feel sick.

Crowds have never been my thing. The more people there are, the more people stare and silently judge you. Always saying crude things behind your back or in their head. "Look at that loser. (LOL). He thinks he's so cool with those clothes." Stuff like that.

I was pulled out of my morbid thoughts as a hand grabbed my shoulder and turned me around.

"SIR! If I might ask, where did you get those fine garments?!" A skinny man with short blonde hair asked as he looked at me.

It took a while to register what he was taking about, but I soon came the realization that he was referring to my clothes.

Oh right.

It didn't even occur to me that I'm wearing the same clothes that I fell asleep in.

I was wearing black joggers and a plain white T-shirt. The only thing new to me were shoes, which I hadn't fallen asleep in. It was a pair slip on's I owned.

In reality, this would be common lounge wear, something you'd wear to be comfortable. But it hadn't even passed my mind that no one was wearing anything like it. They all dressed like adventurers, although still comfortable.

Wait, why didn't the old man say anything about them?

I wasn't able to think for long, as the man kept staring, waiting for a reply.

"Oh uh…I can't quite remember where I got them," not exactly a lie, I don't remember where I got them from.

"I'll give you ANYTHING just to have those!"

"Really?"

"Yes! Yes! Come. Follow me to my shop. I'm a tailor after all, I could give you some fine garments or even custom make some for you if you wish!"

"A-alright…"

I did as I was told and followed the man to his store, which was quite fancy. There were expensive red silk carpets on the floor and even more expensive looking clothes placed on mannequins.

"Now sir, choose anything that catches your eye, no matter what you can take it, for your clothes though of course. And if you don't see anything, I can whip you something up real fast!"

When he said fast, I hope he meant fast. I didn't see anything I liked in the store, it all looked like clothes from the '50s. But I also didn't want to wait hours or days to get some clothes.

I asked him how long it would take to make a full set of clothes, pants, shoes, shirt, and even a coat. To my surprise he said it would only take thirty minutes with his skill set. So I told him what I wanted and waited. He came out after thirty minutes, like he said, and handed me my clothes to change into.
