Chapter 24

-Kageyama P.O.V.-

"Kageyama-" I heard her mumble

"If I never met you, would we have won?" She asked while she stared at the ground, and my eyes widened at her words.

She quickly looked up at me wide-eyed, realizing what she just said "I-I'm sorry I didn't mean to say that." she quickly apologized averting her eyes from mine

"I guess you guys must have lost then," I say and she slowly nods

"We didn't even stand a chance."

"Kageyama! F/n!" I hear Kim call while she quickly joins us.

"I'm so glad you found her, we were wondering where you went, L/n." Akina said and L/n glanced up at her before staring at the ground again

'She is hurting far more than I thought.' I think to myself while the girls beliefly talk to each other

"We will see you around, Kageyama," Kim said with a small wave before dragging L/n along with her

'Maybe I should leave her alone for a while.'

-Back to Your P.O.V.-

"Come on F/n, let's go and watch the boy's game today," Akina said, trying to convince me to get out of bed

"Isn't there school today?" I mumble and she finally pulls the blanket off of me

"Yea, but we already missed 3 periods." She said while I attempted to get my blanket back

"I don't wanna," I say with a powerful tug, earning my blanket back

"F/n, you can't pull this childish act again. You did this last year when we lost in middle school. You have to get over it, we lose and become stronger." Akina harshly says

"Yea, but I don't wanna lose."

"Either do I, but to win I need you. I can't win by myself as a setter. That's why you need to stop mopeing around." Akina says while she tugs at my blanket once again

"Fine." I lazily say while I finally get out of bed

"I'll make some food so we can eat before we leave." She says and I nod before she leaves my room

'If I never met you, would we have won?' The words I said to Kageyama rang in my head

"I can't believe I said that to him." I mumbled to myself while I pulled out a hoodie and a pair of jeans and quickly change into them.

"Akina, how much longer until the food is done?" I asked while I walked into the kitchen and she shoved a riceball towards me

"We need to go right now, otherwise we will miss the game," Akina said while she headed towards the door with me following behind her

"Who are they playing?" I asked while we ran together towards the bus stop

"Aoba Joshai."

"We made it!" Akina says with a sigh of relief while we walk into the gym "And they haven't started their game yet either."

We both look down at the volleyball court, while the 2 teams shake hands before the starting line-up runs onto the court.

The whistle blows and both teams tease and the game starts

"A setter dump so soon?" Akina exclaims while girls fangirl over Oikawa

"Didn't you use to look up to Oikawa?" I asked Akina who lightly blushed

"In our first year of middle school, I did." Akina said while her eyes didn't the court "He is an amazing setter, I'll give him that."

"Give him that?" I asked in a questioning ton

"There is just something I don't like about him." She said while I turned my attention back to the court.

"He did a setter dump back?" I say while the ball drops on Sejohs side of the court

"You can feel the tension from up here between them." She says while we watch Kageyama mess up a serve

"You got this Oikawa!" I hear fangirls scream while Oikawa spins the ball in his hands

He tosses the ball in the air, before hitting it towards Ninshinoya.

"It's almost as powerful as a spike," Akina says in aw while the brown-haired libero dug it up.

"Bring it!" I hear Hinata yelled before the ball instantly comes to him before he slammed it down.

The match continues, and the more I watched Kageyama play he seemed irritated.

"A time-out so soon?"

"Probably just trying to break their flow," I say while I watched as each team talks among themselves before going back onto the court.

I watched as Karasuno's attack slowly started to speed up

"They need to slow down before things get out of hand." Akina noted and I nodded

We heard the whistle blown, turning our attention to the silvered hair boy who held up the number nine card.

"Isn't that upperclassman, Sugawara?" I asked and Akina nodded

"I still can't believe you got lost at the tournament last year," Akina says laughing

'I thought for sure this is the way they went.' I think to myself while I wander the halls that are packed of volleyball fans

I stared down at my map while I tried to figure out where I was.

'So this is court B?' I think to myself while I stopped in front of a set of doors 'But where was the game they were going to.'

I continued to wander around the hallways with my nose in my map until I bumped into someone.

"I'm sorry," I say with a small, earning a chuckle from the person.

"Are you lost?" The slivered-haired boy asked causing my cheeks to quickly warm-up

'He looks like a highschooler.'

"Uh- Why would you think that?" I say with a nervous smile

"Because I have seen you walk past here 4 times now." He says with a chuckle

"I was looking for Kita- Kitaguwa- Kitaguwa Daichi," I say trying to remember the name of the school that everyone went to go and watch

"Do you mean Kitagawa Daiichi?" He asked and I shyly nodded "I was about to head to that game myself, how about we go together." He says with a warm smile and I couldn't help but to nod

"Sure!" I say while I start to follow behind him

'Karasuno High School Volleyball Club' I read the back of his jacket while we walked

"Wait, you go to Karasuno?" I asked while I started to walk next to him, and he nods

"What is a highschooler doing at a middle school volleyball game?" I asked while we walked

"I came with some of my friends to see what the competition is going to look like next year." He says while he opened the doors that led us into a volleyball gym

"L/n!" I hear my name called while we walked into the gym

"Sorry I got lost." I apologize before turning towards the boy

"Thank you for helping me-" I cut myself, realizing I never got is name

"Sugawara." He answered

"Thank you, Sugawara!"

"I can't believe I got lost too, I was lucky Sugawara found me," I say while I laugh with Akina, but her laughter quickly died down

I watched as she stared blankly at the volleyball court lost in thought.

The first set was taken by Aoba Johsai, while Karasuno took the 2nd set.

I glanced up at Akina while the teams switched sides of the courts.

'She has been silent since we talked about Saugawara' I thought to myself while I stared the game below us.

The 3rd set quickly started, and Hinata's spikes started to get blocked.

"So their Libero use to be a setter," I mumble to myself while Oikawa spikes down the ball.

The ball continued to go back and forth from side to side, neither side giving up.

The whistle blows once again, indicating someone is being switched out. A green-haired boy nervously held up the number ten sign.

'A pinch server?' I thought to myself while he nervously walked to the line to serve. He tossed the ball in the air and I quickly realized what he was doing 'A jump float.' I thought while the boy hit the ball, and it sadly didn't make it over.

"That's harsh." I hear Akina say and I nod

"I wonder if that was his first time in a high school game," I commented while each side continued to fight to get ahead of each other.

I watched as it was Kageyams's turn to server again.

'He looks much calmer and focused." I thought to myself while I watched as he tossed the ball into the air, hitting it to the other side.

'Yet, he looks so at peace while he plays at the same time.' I admired while I continued to watch the game

The ball was soaring over the middle of the net from a bad receive from Tanaka, Oikawa went to push it over while Kageyama set it with one hand causing me to jump out of my seat at how awesome it looked.

"Yes!" I cheered while Hinata hit the ball earning a glance from Kageyama.

'It's actually really scary how fast he moves.' I think to myself while I watch Hinata run from side to side of the court.

Each side continued to fight, you could tell they didn't want to lose.

'Wow, they are already in the 30s?' I thought to myself while I watched nervously while it was Aoba Johsai's match point

"You got this Hin-" I started to cheer while Kageyama set the ball perfectly to Hinata only to be blocked by a triple block.

My eyes were wide while I watched as Kageyama, Ninshinoya, and Karasuno's Ace all try to save the ball but ultimately fail.

The whistle was blown, but this time to call the end of this long game. I watched as Karasuno stared in disbelief, while Aoba Johsia celebrated.

They soon lined up in front of us and stood in silence before the captain spoke.

"Thank you so much for coming!" He said with a bow, while everyone else followed his lead

'It's just like yesterday.' I thought while I clapped for them with a sad smile on my face, while they run off and head towards their coach.

"Let's go," I tell Akina who gave me a weird look

"Shouldn't we wait for them?" She said and I shook my head

"It's best if we just leave them, we can talk to them at school tomorrow," I say while I head towards the exit and Akina follows

"I'm hungry," Akina complains

"We should try that new ramen place that's close to-"

"L/n?" I hear called and I turned towards the voice it belonged to

"Hinata," I say, unsure of what to say to him while I stared at the rest of the team that stood behind him

'They are so tall.' I think to myself while Akina quickly came up with something to say

"Good game you guys." She said with a smile and I nodded agreeing with her and the boys didn't say anything in response

We stood there in silence until their Captain said something

"Thank you for coming." He said with a small bow before we said our farewells and parted ways

"I don't know how that could have gotten any more awkward," I say while I and Akina watch as the boys head to what I believe to be was the lockerroom.

"Actually lets head home to eat, we have a lot of food we need to eat before it goes bad," Akina says and I roll my eyes

"Ok, Mom," I say and she smiled at me while we leave together.

"I made Chicken Fried Rice!" Akina said happily while I walked into the kitchen

"Probably because it's your favorite," I say while I grab a bowl for the both of us, and began to put some of the food into the bowls.

"Here," I say handing her a bowl before grabbing a spoon and sitting down.

"L/n-" I heard Akina say drawing my attention to the girl who sat down in front of me

"You remember don't you."
