Chapter 22

Days quickly passed as I trained hard to get my body physically back in shape to play again.

"Another one," I said through my deeps breaths, and Akina gave me a worried look

"Maybe you should take-"

"No, I had a long enough break. I need to catch up to everyone." I interrupt her while I tossed the ball towards her

I watched as she set the ball in the air while I took my approach, I focused my weight on the balls of my feet before I jumped. And within a split second, I hit the ball down.

"Wow." Akina said in aw while she looked at me before adding "You are playing just like you were before the accident."

I gave her a small smile "Must be muscle memory."

After I told Kageyama that I had remembered everything, I was planning on telling Akina but she asked too many details about what happened between me and Kageyama that I couldn't even tell her.

"Have you even talked to him?" Akina finally ask me and I thought for a second

"Well you have been making me lunch, and I have been practicing volleyball in my free time." I said before adding "I mean we have had short conversations, but we haven't been able to talk in private."

"What!" Akina said wide-eyed

"Huh?"

"So you haven't even talked to him since he confessed to you?" She asked and I nodded

"I mean he has been practicing with Hinata, so we didn't really get to- Wait Akina where are you going?" I asked while she started to walk towards the gym doors

"I'll be back." Was all she said before leaving me there all alone.

'I guess I can work on my sets.' I thought to myself while I picked up a ball that was on the ground

I let the ball roll off my fingers making the ball go straight up, before it returned back to my fingers just to roll right back off of them.

"You're doing it wrong." A voice said, causing me to drop the ball on my head.

"Who are you to tell me what I'm doing wrong when-" I started to fire back, but then I realized who was standing at the gym doors

"You have to bend your wrists a bit more," Kageyama said and I held the ball in my fingertips like I was about to set the ball and bent my wrists back a little

"Like this?" I asked and he stared at me blankly before walking towards me

"No, like this." He said while he gently placed his hands onto of mine, and tilted them forwards.

"Yea, but this feels weird," I complain while I return my hands back to how I originally had it

"But this is the right way to do it." He said while he returned my hands back to the proper way to do it

"This is why I'm not a setter," I say while I gave up on trying to set, and put the ball back in the bin

"Tournaments are coming up in the next couple of days," Kageyama said and I glanced back at him

"Yea, what about them?"

"Are you going to play?"

"How is that a question, of course, I'm going to play," I said confidently

"Kageyama, where did you disappear to?" We hear a voice call out causing us both to look towards the gym door

"L/n!" Hinata said cheerfully while he ran towards me and added "We can practice together again!"

I smiled at him and nodded "Maybe after the tournament."

"Why not nowwww." Hinata whined

"Because I practicing with Akinaaaaa," I said trying to mimic his tone

"Nooooo your Not." I hear Akina say

"Wait, where are you going?" I asked Akina, who was packing up her stuff

"I'm going to go and eat dinner with Nami and her friends," Akina said while swung the bag over her shoulder

"Oki, I guess I will see you later at home." I say and she nods

"See ya!" She said with a wave before leaving the gym once again and I turn towards the boys

"We should work on receiving!" I say optimistically and Kageyama nodded

"That's definitely what you need to work on," Kageyama says to Hinata

"But you said her receives were just as bad as mine." Hinata protested

"Let's see then," I say, challenging him and he stood next to me, while we both faced Kageyama

I stood on the tips of my toes while I bent my knees, and slightly bent my back, while my arms waited in front of me to see where the ball went.

"Ready?" He asked us and we both nodded eagerly

"One more!" Hinata begged while I finally sat down next to my bag

"This is the last one, then we really have to go," I tell them while I watch as Hinata tosses the ball towards Kageyama and quickly bolted towards the net.

'Minus tempo.' I thought to myself while I watched as Hinata jumped, and the ball the slammed to the ground

"Wait-" I said looking at Hinata who was glowing with happiness

"Huh?" Kageyama answered

"Did he just do that with his eyes shut?" I asked and Hinata nodded

"That's right I forgot you weren't at the 3 on 3 match." Hinata said and I nodded

"I figured you guys won since Kageyama wasn't grumpy about not being the setter." I noticed Kageyama slightly blush as I said that

"I wouldn't be grumpy."

"The setter's job is difficult, cool, and awesome!" Hinata said trying to imitate, causing me to laugh

"H-Hey!" Kageyama said with redden cheeks

"Come on lets clean up." I say through my giggles and we all start to pick up the balls that remained on the floor

"Why are you going that way, Kageyama?" Hinata asked

"You shouldn't let a girl walk around in the dark, Boke." Kageyama said while he started walking towards the direction of my house

"I'll see you later, Hinata!" I say with wave before I quickly chased after Kageyama to catch up with him

We both walked in silence until we got to my home.

"Your gonna win, at the touronment right?" He asked and I nodded

"Of course!" I say confidently

"Goodluck." He said while lightly poked my head

"G-Goodluck too, you too!"

"Now go get some rest, you are going to have busy days ahead." He says while he turns on his heel to leave.

I stood there for a second, watching as he left before my feet started running towards him. I wrapped my arms around his waist

"Goodnight." I told him before I ran into the house before he could even respond.
