Chapter 28: Interlude

I look at the battle in front of me and feel a little bit inadequate. It has been a week since the guests arrived in Vindice, and boy, I was surprised at the sight of them. I thought it was a normal guest, but it was not.

Yasaka of the Nine Tails is the guest.

While our faction does not really care about the eastern faction, we still keep an eye on them, and I know the important people around that area. Among them is Yasaka, the leader of the Eastern Youkai faction.

And I can understand the reason why she was appointed as the leader of her faction.

BOOM

Another explosion happens, and another crater appears on the ground.

Yasaka and Valerian Millefiore spar with each other, and their fight destroys the arena. Power attracts, and the two show the others the reason why they are the leader of their respective factions.

While my students watch the fight to learn from it, I look at the orange flame both fighters use in the fight.

We came here because of the order from Lord Apollon, but Lady Athena asked me to check the power of the people of Vindice because it is a new power. A power that she had never encountered before. She, who is ancient, has never once encountered that kind of power.

I know the reason why she wants me to tell her about this kind of power. Among them is how to awaken that power. At first, I thought this power could be awakened when you entered this area, but I knew that was not the case when Yasaka and her group arrived here.

Or rather, it is not the only case. Arriving here is one of the keys to awakening this power, but it needs another key, and it comes from the leader of the Millefiore Family, Valerian. He can awaken the power outside of humans.

After weeks of staying in this place, I have already recorded what kind of power those flames have. The Golden Flame, or Sun Flame as they call it, has the power to heal. The Blood-Red Flame or Storm Flame has the power to destroy. The Green Flame or Lightning Flame has the power to increase defense.

I still do not know the power of the Blue Flame, the Purple Flame, and the Indigo Flame. As for the flame Valerian and Yasaka use… It is still a mystery to me. It can heal, increase strength, and even turn something or someone into stones.

The only theory I can make is that the flame can use the other's power or something like that.

However, it is not the only thing I need to report back to Lady Athena. I look up and see the massive silver sword above Valerian, glowing each time he uses his silver aura. I don't know what kind of power he has, but that thing is solid and not at the same time. You can touch it, but you cannot attack it.

If you try to attack it, your attack will go through it as if it were nothing but an illusion. But you can touch it just fine as long as you do not try to attack it. I don't know how it works, and I will leave it to Lady Athena to theorize about that sword.

I only know that it grants the user the ability to control gravity. Not only that, but Valerian also can share that power with others. He can already see his people gaining that power one by one and give it a week or two; all of them will have that power.

They are already a strong faction for the human race, but now they can compete with non-human factions with their unique power alone.

BOOM

I wince a little when I see Valerian get punched in the face by Yasaka and get thrown to the ground, creating a crater from the impact. I can see Yasaka about to do a dive kick but stop mid-air, and I can see a silver aura around her.

However, it did not last long as Yasaka released a massive torrent of orange fire to cancel the attack and land on the ground.

I can see the fight is about to come to an end as both fighters are beaten from the fight.

"Yasaka. Ready for one last more attack?"

The nine-tail fox grins and says.

"Of course! Bring it on!"

I can see the silver aura spike up and create a pillar of silver light before it suddenly vanishes. I look around in confusion before feeling something appear from above us. I look up and widen my eyes when I see a flaming meteor appear from the sky.

"You gotta be kidding me."

I quickly create a lot of magic circles to block it from hitting my students and me, but before I can deploy my magic, I can see a ten-meter-tall fox appear from the ground. Is that Yasaka?! Holy shit! She is big!

She opens her mouth and gathers dark energy in front of her mouth. A few seconds later, she fires a beam of destruction at the meteor and destroys it. However, I widened my eyes when I saw the fragment of the meteor fall to the ground, still on fire.

"That is even worse!"

I shout, ready to cast my spell. However, I stop once again when I see a silver light stop all the stone fragments from hitting anyone. I look at Valerian, who controls the stones and neatly places them in the corner of the arena.

Yasaka, who changes into her humanoid form, walks toward Valerian and says.

"You will teach me that!"

"Sadly, this power is exclusive to my family. Maybe if you join my family, I will give it to you."

Instead of answering his joke with another joke, Yasaka pulls him and kisses him. I can see a familiar light in Yasaka's eyes. It is the same eyes Lady Aphrodite gave to Lord Ares, who was just sparring with his son and minion.

I pull my students away from the arena. I need to make a report about this to Lady Athena.
