The same thing continued for weeks, delivering the so-called packages, finding some of their bodies a few days later and the continuous search and private investigations of Noel Cassius. Elizabeth had slowly become numb to the guilt she felt after figuring out that most of the people she delivered were sickos and criminals.
Both herself and Dyson had investigated Noel Cassius intensively but there was no trace of him, the mysterious man was that good at covering his tracks, Elizabeth remembered that she also had a hand in covering up his tracks because she did clean up some of his mess in the past few weeks but she still did not manage to catch a glimpse of him.
She dragged her fatigued body after yet another successfully delivery and plopped on her chair, it was late at night but she had to search for any news concerning the mysterious man or if there was another case where a person with hole marks on their body was found, since she had seen it quite a few times during the past weeks.
There was no noteworthy person with the name, Noel Cassius, just a few people with the same name. And just one popular Cassuis, Gaius Cassuis Longinus, he was the only popular person with the name 'Cassuis' but his history was as old as 44BC, so Elizabeth glanced past it. She was about to turn off her computer when her eyes caught something, it was the side profile of a man. Elizabeth clicked on the photo and the full picture appeared together with a few details.
-Harrison Aurthur, CEO of Northern Visuals and a few other gaming companies…-
Elizabeth clicked on all his photos and one, just one that caused her heart to jerk inside her chest, almost bursting out of her ribcage out of suprise.
The picture was taken when Harrison Aurthur had gotten into his car but someone was already sitting inside the car, his face though blurry was recognizable to Elizabeth, it was a face she should and could never forget, she met him once under the dim coloured lights of the club but his facial features has been ingrained deeply in her mind and memory.
Her blood rushed, due to both excitement and fear. If she could find out who he really was then she could free herself from his bond.
Elizabeth spent the whole night searching about Harrison Aurthur, his family members which he did have a few but Noel was not part of the family, she investigated his workers too, especially drivers and special aides but Noel Cassius was nowhere to be found like he simply didn't exist, he now seemed like a mere fragment of her imagination. But instead of her resolve to die, she pointed all her suspicions towards Harrison Aurthur. Though a lot of information about him couldn't be found, Elizabeth still widened her tired eyes and typed away with her hurting fingers, but she soon couldn't overcome the fatigue and fell asleep shortly after with one thought in mind: Noel Cassius was related to Harrison Aurthur.
She woke up the next day later than usual, she was stressed out but she still managed to drag her tired body to the station. She had to inform her new partner of her findings, though she felt guilty that she had to hide it from Chief Inspector Vans, she also felt a little bad that she wanted to use Dyson's help without telling him the whole story.
She burst into Dyson's office but he was already used to it so he didn't even bat an eye. He just kept his eyes on the file in his hand.
"I've got news." Elizabeth announced and sat on the chair opposite him.
"What news? Another 'fanged animal bite'?" He emphasised the latter part of his words and chuckled sarcastically.
"Ha! At least I never assumed it was caused by mythical beings like vampires." She rolled her eyes in response and the side of her lips drew into a smirk.
Both inspectors had came up with their own hypothesis, Elizabeth assumed that just like the doctors said, it may have been caused by animals with fangs though not venomous animals since the bodies were usually found in places where such animals could dwell in, but Dyson's hypothesis was a notch in the sky, he believed that mythical beings like vampires may have drained the victims of their blood. At one point, his hypothesis seemed quite plausible since a few victims were reportedly drained of blood, but still the existence of something like that couldn't be accepted, no matter how true to seemed, it just made no sense.
"What did you find this time?" Dyson asked but still did not bother to spare her a glance.
"A picture of him." Elizabeth answered and took out an already printed photo from her bag.
Dyson paused and looked up at her, he took the photo with slightly trembling hands but immediately he turned it over, he frowned, "What's this?" He asked.
"The man getting into the car is Harrison Aurthur, the CEO of Northern Visuals and the person sitting in the car is the supposed lord of Vandhill." Elizabeth explained and relaxed on the seat.
"Ha." Dyson sighed and added, "How sure are you about this? I mean, how do you know it's him? His face is in a blur."
"Are you implying that I don't know the 'man' when I see him?"
"It's not that, it's just that-"
"You don't have to worry, it really is him, I'm sure of it." Elizabeth interjected with a tight-lipped smile.
"Of course, you're sure." Dyson scoffed, thinking about the day Elizabeth had led him and the team to a wrong location.
Elizabeth chuckled as if she could read his mind. She herself was still embarrass about that day when her emotions were high and she just wanted to magically get to the roots of her problems.
"How did you say you met him again?" Dyson asked with squinted eyes.
"I already told you it was at the club on the day 'you fired me when it wasn't even in your power to do that'." She reminded him, purposely empjasing on the latter words with gritted teeth.
"You can't possibly blame me, I was ordered to." Dyson smirked and continued, "I remember you saying that the Noel Cassius came to you because you destroyed his town and promised to destroy your family too."
"Yes." Elizabeth nodded in affirmation.
"He has to be brought to face the law." Dyson said after a sigh and added, "That is if he's human."
Elizabeth burst into laughter. Dyson had added those words with a serious look on his face that anybody who isn't Elizabeth would be compelled to believe.
"I'll find a way to meet up with him." She said after she had calmed herself down.
"That won't be easy." Dyson pressed his lips into a thin line.
"Then you'll have to go. After all, I think he prefers male victim, he's just as pervetic as his victims." Elizabeth yawned while saying those words.
"It's strange how you can say such things without blinking and I'm not going to be a victim or some kind of bait to catch a supposed inhuman lord of some weird cult town." Dyson said with a straight face, he squinted his eyes and gestured at the door with his lips.
Elizabeth who knew what he meant stood up and headed for the door, "Tsk, I'll be back later for a more detailed plan then." She clicked her tongue and left the office, letting Dyson wallow in his thoughts all by himself.
