Letter to Carlos.

The academy entrance was empty, and while some of the windows were well-lit, others were without any light lit in them.

Through one of the windows, two persons could be seen seated in front of each other on Chesterfield and gazing at each other.

Richard was sitting on the divan in front of Edward and was avoiding his keen gaze.

"So, you want me to inspect Lydan with my see-through ability?" The room was silent until Edward spoke.

"Yes, that's all," Richard answered.

"And?" A satisfied grin covered Edward's face as he said.

Richard, who was once more averting his eyes, was sitting on the Chesterfield in front of Edward when he eventually opened his mouth and mumbled something.

"What did you say? I didn't hear a thing," Richard gave a stern look as Edward sarcastically spoke.

"How am I supposed to comprehend what you're saying when you won't even talk clearly?" Edward chuckled as he spoke again.

"I..." Before finishing his sentence, Richard paused.

"I?" Edwards replied as he fixed his gaze on Richard, who appeared to be struggling to speak.

Richard eventually said, "I'm sorry."

"For?" Richard was instructed to finish his sentence once more by Edward.

Once again, Richard stated in a single breath, "I'm sorry for removing your ability to move in front of the royalties while you were there to obtain discipline for them"

"There you go," Edward said with a wry smile.

Suddenly Richard ran over to the side table to quickly get a glass of water and drained the entire thing.

"Look at you, did simply uttering two words cause your throat to dry out?" Edward spoke as he gave Richard a disgusted look.

"Those words are not just any words," Richard replied as he set the glass on the front table and sat back down on the Chesterfield.

"You have embarrassed me several times in front of other people, yet your pride becomes less when you apologize," Edward said as he lay back on the couch.

Richard said, "I never did!"

Richard offered a few words in defense of himself, which Edward completely ignored, and stated instead, "Now that you have apologized, I will tell you something that I already observed in Lydan."

Before Edward could continue, Richard noticed the smoke that had suddenly started to build behind him.

"The black smoke you saw around Lydan, right?" Gage said as he abruptly emerged from the fog behind the Chesterfield, making Edward jolt forward with surprise.

"Why did you emerge so unexpectedly behind me like that?" Edward bellowed as Richard burst into laughter.

Gage approached the Chesterfield from behind, "I'm sorry about that, I wanted to test it again on someone" he said.

"Let me test something on you too," Edwards said in a frenzy as his eyes began to flare up with purple smoke.

Gage put his hand on Edward's shoulder to soothe him as he sat on the Chesterfield next to him.

"Professor, did something happen?" Richard inquired after observing Gage's peculiar facial expressions.

"Sire, you told me to keep an eye on the royalties and I found something that you probably need to know." Gage clutched one fist with the other and stated.

"What did you discover?" Richard inquired.

Edward's eyes ceased flaring the purple smoke, as he saw Gage's agitation–Gage cast a glance in Edward's direction as he told both of them all he had heard.

Richard and Edward were stunned to hear Gage speak as the room fell into utter silence.

"I knew that they were doing all of this on purpose." Edward stroked his underlips and said, breaking the silence.

Richard sprang up from the divan and hurried over to his desk.

"Sire?" Richard, who had a furious expression, was in Gage's line of sight, as he called.

Richard sat down in the chair and muttered, "This is more serious than I anticipated it would be. I never knew the Royals are keeping so much from us."

"Is this a letter you're composing?" When Edward noticed Richard scribbling, he questioned.

Richard said without pausing to stare ahead, "I'm writing to king Carlos."

"Do you believe that he will tell us everything, sire?" Gage asked.

"No, but I'm confident he'll give us what we wanted to know," Richard said.

"I think we should teach all the royalties together with the other Nobels," Gage proposed.

"Do you think King Carlos will approve of it?"Edward stated.

"He should since it's harder to keep track of the royalties separately and you've seen with your own eyes how much hassle they caused in such a short period," Gage said.

"The other professors will consent to it; they've already voiced a lot of objections about you and I being allowed to teach only the royal heirs," Edward said.

"Since they already know everything there is to know about the magic, we are only here to hold the noble and royal heirs in this Academy for a year at the king's request, not to teach them, So this will undoubtedly make the professors happy," Gage said.

While composing the letter, Richard abruptly stopped when he heard Gage's voice.

Richard yelled out, "Professor," as he gave Gage a stern look.

"Yes, sire," Gage answered.

"Do you have any idea how those words of yours might produce pandemonium in these modest premises of the Academy if anyone to hear it?" Richard bayed.

"It was a slip of the tongue, sire," Gage said as he realized what he had said.

"Your slip of the tongue can lead someone's neck to be sliced," Richard said.

"I'm sorry," Gage said.

"Please call all the professors and spell casters, I'll be talking to them about all the students taking their courses together," Richard said as Gage stood up and left the room after giving a nod in confirmation.

"Edward, I want you to lead the lessons tomorrow with the other teachers. It should be something completely unrelated to any of the magic," Without looking up, Richard instructed Edward.

"Normally I would have poured tea on his head for yelling at Gage and left the room, but he appeared never this serious before so I let it slip," Edward said in his mind as he glanced at Richard, who was writing.

"I will take a class that all the students would love to have," Edward started as he stepped up and left the room without looking back.

"It's time to see Lydan," Richard muttered as he sealed the letter in front of him with gold wax.
