Chapter2

#Chapter2

The Year 2015.

The Land Rover comes to a skidding halt, just outside the gate to the boma (bush fence) entrance to Piet’s Photographic Safari’s. Now aptly named /"Double the Fun Safaris/", since the Frenchman Jacques Le Vee had joined Piet as a partner, the business is attracting more and more clients, thanks to Peggy and Le Vee’s marketing skills.

The burly South African tumbles out of the cab of the Land Rover, running before his feet hit the ground and shouting out at the top of his voice.

/"LE VEE, my moer, waar is die bliksem, LE VEE, WHERE ARE YOU MAN?/"

The tent flaps part, to reveal the Frenchman, clad only in a pair of bright red boxer shorts.

/"Ah, Monsieur Piet, yu ave returned from yur party, an how is the little birthday girl?/"

/"Nee fok Le Vee, put some clothes on, just now you scare the bloody game away./"

/"Ah, but Monsieur Piet, I am working./"

/"Working, what working do you do in those bliksem se rooi brookies?/"

/"I am entertaining one of the lady clients Monsieur Piet, I take my public relations very seriously. The client, she says she wants to see a Beeg Game Hunter, soooo I show her a Beeg Game Hunter, and she is appy, no?/"

/"Ag nee fok Le Vee, put some clothes on, ek en jy, ons moet nou praat, hurry up man, I’ve got a fokken plane to catch./"

The tent flaps part again, and the stunning Belgium model, who had been whispering sweet nothings into Piet’s ear whenever she could, eases past Le Vee, clad in nothing more than a wisp of a bikini, and slides over to the embarrassed South African.

/"You win some, you lose some big boy, and you were too slow on the uptake. But never mind, I don’t mind sharing, so think about it, after all, you do say /"Double the Fun,/" so prove it./"

Piet grabs his bush hat from his head and bites down hard on the material to prevent himself from saying something to the departing woman as she sways off towards her tent.

/"Monsieur Piet, do not worry, I can assure yu that everything will be in good hands while yu are away, and I promise to keep my end up./"

/"Ja Le Vee, I can see that, you bliksem, I am not even gone yet and not only are you keeping your bloody end up, you putting it away as well./"

/"Relax Monsieur Piet, I know which end to keep up, an I will not let you down. The business will not suffer while you are away, and I assure you, I will keep the clients happy, and show them a good time./"

/"That Le Vee is what worries me, the end you are keeping up, but ja, I must go so I leave everything in your, how should I put it... your hot little hands. I told David if they need anything to give you a call, and please Le Vee, think of a new name for the safari, this bloody /"Double the Fun/" is giving the ladies the wrong idea./"

/"But Monsieur Piet that is the objective of the name, more fun./"

/"Not ń moer ou maat, when I get back, a name change will take place, and Le Vee, be careful, you can’t run from a charging lion with those bloody red boxers of yours around your ankles./"

/"Monsieur Piet, yu make a joke no, do not worry, off with yu and ave a good time./"

Piet looks around the camp, taking in everything, but avoiding the eyes of the Belgium model as she stands in the entrance of her tent, and crooks a finger in his direction.

/"Nee fok dit, the name will change, that I promise you, just wait until I tell Peggy, she’ll change the bloody thing.

/"Take care Monsieur Piet, an come back safely, I assure yu that yu ave nothing to worry about./"

/"Ja okay Le Vee, I must run, but I promise you, when I get back we need to sit down and have a good heart to heart./"

/"Not to worry Monsieur Piet, I will keep a record of all the conquests while you are away, and then we can ave that heart to heart, over a brandy or three./"

/"Nee fok dit, I’m out of here, a man can only take so much.

Piet marches across the camp towards the Land Rover, again avoiding eye contact with the model on his way past, reaches the vehicle and slams the door closed behind him, muttering to himself.

/"Why Piet my love, what’s wrong, you look all red in the face./"

/"Ag Peggy it’s nothing, just sometimes I want to strangle that bloody Le Vee./"

/"What has he done this time my skat?/"

/"Nothing Peggy, just the fact that he’s single makes me see red, and oh ja, the name for the business that must change, it's sending out the wrong signals, this is a fokken safari business, not a bloody gigolo for hire./"

/"Oh now I understand, somebody is a little jealous, the handsome partner getting all the action now./"

/"Ag nee Peggy man, your mind is back in the gutter, as if I don’t have enough to worry about with Le Vee, now you as well./"

/"Never mind Piet, as I always tell you, you are my Jungle Boy, so it's hands off to all those other maidens out there./"

/"As usual you are right my love. Come, everything is already in the car, so /"let’s go,/" we have a plane to catch./"

Piet puts the Land Rover in gear and throws up a cloud of dust behind him as they set off for Lusaka, and their appointment with South African Airways. Behind them, the flaps on Le Vee’s tent close and the giggles and squeals from the model carry across the Kafue River.
