"I imagined... that everyone would forget about the explosion, and that the glass had never broken," I explained, a shiver of excitement running down my spine.
"That phrasing suggests the event never occurred at all," IM pointed out, his voice a low rumble. "It means you didn't just repair the damage; you actually rewound time to before the explosion even happened."
The realization hit me like a thunderbolt. "So... I can manipulate time?" I asked, my voice filled with a mixture of awe and trepidation.
IM nodded. "It would seem so. But be careful," he warned. "If you imagine something incorrectly, it could backfire on you with disastrous consequences."
I nodded, taking his warning to heart.
We reached the parking lot, where my motorcycle stood gleaming in the afternoon light. I swung my leg over the seat, IM settling in behind me.
"Ah... can we go to Dove first?" I asked IM before starting the bike.
"For what?" he inquired, raising an eyebrow.
"I want to talk to her about Asmar," I replied.
IM nodded. "Sure, let's go."
Vroom! Vroom!
The motorcycle roared to life, and we sped off into the gathering darkness, the cool night air whipping through our hair.
"Xian!" IM's voice crackled in my ear, urgency lacing his tone.
"What?!" I asked, startled.
"Earlier, it seems like some people, like Seers or other Unveiled, aren't affected by your power when you rewind time!"
"What?!" My heart pounded in my chest.
"Your friend Lenna... when you rewound time, everyone else disappeared and reappeared in their classrooms, but she and I remained unaffected!"
I swerved the motorcycle, narrowly avoiding a stray cat that darted across the road. "What?!" I exclaimed, my mind racing. "How is that possible?"
"I don't know," IM replied, his voice tinged with concern. "But your power earlier didn't affect either of us. Remember, she's a Seer, right?"
"Yes!" I yelled, trying to keep my voice steady as I navigated the busy streets. The revelation that my power didn't affect Seers or other Unveiled opened up a whole new world of possibilities, and dangers.
"Does it not affect my family too?!" I asked, a sudden wave of panic washing over me.
"Let's find out," IM replied, his voice calm but his eyes filled with concern.
I nodded, my heart pounding in my chest. I twisted the throttle, and the motorcycle roared to life, speeding through the streets towards the WRA Company building.
We pulled up to the familiar WRA Company building, its towering presence dwarfing the surrounding structures. The sun was beginning to set, casting long shadows across the cityscape.
We rushed inside and took the elevator to the 20th floor. As the doors slid open, we were greeted by the sight of the entire Unveiled Family gathered in the conference room.
"Xian!" Irune exclaimed, her face beaming with excitement. She was the first to react, rushing over to greet us.
"Hey guys," I said, a tired smile on my face.
Everyone gathered around us, their eyes filled with curiosity and concern.
Dove approached us, her eyes wide with surprise. "Did you...?" she began, her voice trailing off.
I nodded slowly. "I rewound time," I confirmed, my voice barely a whisper.
"What?!" Everyone exclaimed in unison, their faces etched with disbelief and shock.
The room buzzed with a mix of astonishment and confusion. Aca's eyes were wide as saucers, and Irune looked like she might faint from shock. Even Vill, the usually stoic Seer, seemed taken aback.
"But... didn't you guys feel the windows explode?" I asked, confused by their lack of recollection.
Everyone nodded slowly, their expressions still etched with disbelief.
"The windows were shattered," Yolan confirmed. "But then... they weren't."
"It's because of me," I confessed, a nervous lump forming in my throat. "I killed the giant whale."
Dove raised an eyebrow, her voice laced with disbelief. "The giant whale? That giant whale?"
IM and I nodded in unison.
"No way..." Aca breathed, her voice barely a whisper. "How?"
"I... I imagined it was dead," I explained, my voice shaking slightly.
A hush fell over the group as they absorbed the implications of my words. The idea that I had somehow altered time itself was staggering.
"That's... incredible," Dove finally said, her voice filled with awe. "But we need to be cautious. Your power is clearly immense, but we don't yet fully understand its limits."
"I agree," Vill added, her brow furrowed in thought. "We need to find a way to control and refine your abilities. Otherwise, you could unintentionally cause more harm than good."
IM, sensing the growing tension, interjected, "Speaking of Asmar, did you guys hear that he's going to be arrested tomorrow?"
Everyone nodded.
"Yes, we did," Dove confirmed. "We're planning to attend the court hearing tomorrow. Would you like to come with us, Xian?"
"To be honest," I said, leaning back in my chair, "with this power, I don't even need to go to school anymore."
"Are you sure about that?" Vill asked, her voice laced with a motherly concern.
I nodded confidently. "Yeah, I could just imagine myself being the smartest person in the world."
Dove sighed, a knowing smile on her face. "Alright, alright. So, you're still in for tomorrow?"
I nodded again.
"Oh, and by the way," Dove added, "we've found the land you wanted to invest in."
"Really? Where is it?" I asked, my interest piqued.
"In Tangerang," she replied.
"Ah, right, The land of the rich and famous."
"So, since Xian is here now," Yolan chimed in, a mischievous glint in her eye, "maybe he can help us out a bit?"
I looked at her, curious. "Help with what?"
"Training your power, of course!" she replied. "And helping us create some items. Our factory is having some trouble with the machinery... maybe you could try imagining it working properly?"
I nodded, intrigued by the challenge. "Sure, lead the way to the factory."
"You guys go ahead," Dove said, stifling a yawn. "I'm going to rest here for a bit."
"Yeah, just go with Yolan, Xian and IM," Irune agreed.
"What?! You guys aren't coming with me?" Yolan protested, her voice filled with mock indignation.
"Nope," they all replied in unison, chuckling at her reaction.
Yolan sighed dramatically, but a smile quickly returned to her face. "Alright then, let's go!" she exclaimed, leading us out of the room.
We followed Yolan back to the garage, where she had left her car. With a quick wave to the other workers, we piled into the vehicle, the familiar hum of the engine a comforting sound after the intense atmosphere of the workshop.
Thud! The doors closed, and we pulled out of the garage, leaving the bustling activity behind us.
"So, what happened with the machine?" I asked, buckling my seatbelt.
